Last year I was having so much trouble with the Make Up For Ever HD Skin. (That product is actually how I first found your channel!). My skin was SO dry and literally everything was just a flaky mess unless I layered 42 toners and creams and stuff OR unless I scrubbed off the flakes (which just irritated my skin more). Turns out the 1% tretinoin I was using was just too strong and my skin could never adjust (after a year of 2-3x per week use). I’ve switched to 0.025% and now that HD Skin looks SO flawless and perfect. So, yeah, it works well in dry-yet-hydrated skin but nothing works on flaky skin so if anyone reads this: if you’re experiencing that and using tret, try stopping the tret for 2 months and see what happens.

Hi Mallory, my 63 yr old skin has been an on/off mess since the pandemic, but when I can wear foundation I can use the Chantecaille gel creme foundation. It’s not cheap at $80.00, but it doesn’t have any scent, I can find my shade, it’s light as a feather and doesn’t aggravate my skin. I bought the MUF Reboot foundation but I think it has fragrance in it so I returned it. I must pull out my Armani luminous silk. Got to investigate the Laura Mercier to see if it has fragrance. Would love to try the YSL All Hours, but can’t seem to use scented products on my face so that’s a no. Thanks for the video. Hope you enjoy your Easter.

My fave foundation’s for dry skin…. Saie, Kosas tinted oil and Pat McGrath sublime. I like a thin/hydrating foundation. I apply all with my hands and go over with a sponge. If I want more coverage out of these foundation’s I mix the Nyx bare with me concealer in them. I always powder with a talc free powder. My faves are the Hourglass powder and Kosas. 👍🏻

I'm currently using the HD skin foundation. I like it but I prefer the MUFE Reboot foundation because it feels more hydrating and lightweight plus I found my perfect shade. I wish MUFE would use the same shades for all of their foundations, the HD skin is too yellow and I have an olive undertone. I think I'm gonna try the Laura Mercier next.
@V88333 Жыл бұрын
@emi The HD skin has medium coverage and the Reboot has more light-medium coverage, it looks more natural. The HD skin looks more makeup-y on my dry skin but it's still a good foundation. I just prefer using something that looks like skin. I don't want to cover up my whole face, I prefer using full coverage concealers for specific areas. The Nars Soft matte concealer works great if I want to cover up pimples and the Elf hydrating camo concealer works great under the eyes.

Giorgio Armani is amazing but it had alcohol. For me Mallory the best foundation i have ever used was YSL all hours, the problem denatured alcohol. My skin was even dryer , I never realized da was in it. It took months to repair my skin . I have literally asked and wrote to YSL to remove the DA, they did reformulate it but they added Sunscreen, If they ever remove it That would be my Holy Grail.

Is sunscreen in foundation bad?
@ctowndoc Жыл бұрын
Yes this. I have seen so many dry skin influencers rave about foundations that contain alcohol (haus labs, Armani, ysl) But how the heck are they tolerating it!
@makennanelson2229 ай бұрын
So there is some alcohols that are actually meant to hydrate. Not all alcohols means the consistency of rubbing alcohol. But I can see what makes it a little drying on you some of the ingredients are drying but it’s usually not the alcohol. Alcohol denat. Is needed in products for absorption and formula stability. The overuse of dimethicone in the YSL foundation is what is probably making your skin dry

Hi Mallory! I’ve been watching you for some time now and have struggled with dry skin myself. I used to always have really dry flaky skin, I then started to really get into skin care, do at-home chemical peels, use good ingredient moisturizers & serums, and a year later my skin has changed so much! It’s still on the dryer side but no more flakes and I can even use most matte foundations! Which is something I couldn’t do before. Have you tried getting rid of your dry skin type and flakes? Or is it something that just won’t go away? I feel like you can fix dry skin with good/consistent skincare.
