Same as when they did Bloodborne and waited forever to put anything into strength, when they used Gascoigne's axe. Watching Pat and Woolie comically misunderstand what stats to allocate for the builds they use in Souls games was one of the highlights.

I started the series on 360 maybe a month or 2 ago and the drake sword you speak of sucks the first weapon I got and used was the claymore which I beat the game with at 10+ drake sword not even worth it even though it's easily attainable anyone that reads this just get the claymore on the bridge with the redkite drake you run into and just use that and upgrade it my opinion 2nd best weapon in game the 1st is the black knights halberd

Dumb meme. Straights swords are bad in this game. All the Drake Sword does is let you get higher than normal AR for no investment for the first third of the game. Real game breakers are the Black Knight Weps which you can get to +4 before you do anything at all
