A majority of attacks Woolie eats can be up-dodged, instead he's scrubbing it out by spamming backflip and eating damage anyway. The lack of up-dodging to avoid damage and cancel moves is making me sadman. Woolie will never become Alexander at this rate.

What I don’t get is up dodge timing is super lax. I just finished this game and was using up-dodging with the exact same tempo and it worked 90 percent of the time. You only need to turn your brain on when i move is undodgeable. L

Trolling aside, Woolie has gotten better. He's doing some solid counterhits, juggles into launches, and evades. I just wish he stopped buying all the worst upgrades and being wrong with Pat a bunch lol.

I think he's seen all the cool techniques and juggle combos and wants to do those but is struggling with the fundamentals like proper guard breaks and crowd control

Dragon Kick That's what I was happy with is he's actually launching enemies away and juggling them in the proper way to avoid getting surrounded sometimes. I was more impressed that he was getting the fundamentals. He's even guard breaking more frequently. Plus his use of God Hand into pummel deserves some praise. Of course there's room to improve: making his combo starter a single hit to make guard breaking easier. Front dodging more often and using the lords blessed sweep. That being said, with the awkward placement of dodge on the right stick, making the game built for people with three thumbs, the time between the last time he played, and the cruel LP tax, Woolie's been doing mighty fine. Though I'm still pissed he went for that 6th orb!

Stomping Fist is top tier. It's an OTG, sets up juggles, and elite enemies/Azel can't dodge it so they either have to get hit or block it (which you can follow up with a guard break).

Something that definitely isn't a spiritual successor but reminds me of God Hand, I'm playstyle at least, is Absolver. I just got it on PS Plus and it is similar in a few ways.

I woke up today realizing I was mad about Detroit. Specifically the "Become Human" part of the title not really coming up narratively. Would the game have been improved at all if deviants called and considered themselves humans instead of doing the "my people", "our people" bit (and thus Connor's prompt was "become human" not "become deviant") and Markus's "convert" prompt was "awaken" or something? Convert kinda has the implication that he's doing it against their will (although I guess they don't HAVE will, but still, seems wrong somehow).

It's _literally in the title though._ It seems like to David Cage achieving equal rights is all you need to be human and there's no real introspective, soulful look on what being human might actually mean. I don't think I'm disappointed so much in Detroit being 90% hamfisted allegories as I am in it being so shallow a take on humanity that not even an ant could drown in it. Also letting good boy Connor be killable is super a failure of the game design.

I like how whenever Woolie runs out of meter or roulette attacks he still can't do basic dodges and immediately panics to get hit. And when he beat Elvis quickly he's like "I put in time in practice mode". Even though in that fight all he did was botched dodges and relied on Roulette/easy mode again.

If you watch the boss fight, all Woolie did was spam jab and pummel, relying only on his overpowered Roulette moves and how easy everything is on easy mode. I can't hate on him too much because he clearly has love for the game, but I wish people got a better playthrough of this. It's no fun if we can't even see most of the enemy's movesets due to easy mode. This isn't what God Hand is about.

It's also in large part due to the Transformed Demon Bosses not having a block, so multi-hit attacks are the way to go to build up stun even faster. The first time Mach Speed Jab as a combo starter is actually A Good Plan.

nah there is a soft lock at all times when you're near them. but what I mean is a souls like lock on. so when the eneny jumps behind you, or worse, only slightly behind you, you don't lose sight or the lock on. and, obviously, the ability to switch between targets manually. and if you smack a dude dead, it locks on to the next guy.

You know what this game reminds me of? Diablo. I stopped playing Godhand back in the day because I thought it was too repetitive. But then watching this, I remembered all the times a sane person would watch me play Diablo (or a clone like PoE) and say it was repetitive, but I would reply crazily, "BUT NEW PASSIVES AND GEAR THO." This is like fighting game Diablo. Same punching people on repeat, crappy looking rooms, but, "I GOT THE DRUNKEN MOVESET NOW THO." I'm gonna give this game another shot.

Sure, Onimusha itself is dead and gone, but Nioh and Sekiro are what I would absolutely consider 'Spiritual Successors' of the Onimusha series.
