One of the coolest scenes, what happened was Kratos forces open the door while the travel room was active and it stayed opened. When Baldur set the room to go to Asgard Kratos basically forced it to go to helheim when he jammed the bifrost into the slot and since the door was open it sucked them out to the farthest areas of Helheim.

As to Freya overlooking the mistletoe in Baldr's protection, I remember it being because Loki deliberately concealed the mistletoe from her in order to fuck over Baldr later on, rather than any accidental oversight on Freya's part.

Kage1713 I think I can forgive Baldur's stupid weakness because someone deliberately hid the Misletoe from her. But Achilles is the most overpowered Demigod/hero in all of greek literature. He's got an armor set from Hephaestus that stun flashes opponent's with it's shine and he was trained by Chiron to be a beast in fighting. And like the Hubris of Baldur he pissed off a guy that is literally the god associated with Bow Hunting and a princeling whose got a dead brother that should've been the hero of the whole epic.

Would've got real annoying if lasted longer. Luckily, Kratos shot him down to earth with his god-level Dad speech. I loved that speech because it wasn't about Kratos chastising Atreus and asserting his authority over him. It was more about steering Atreus from being "too quick to temper, rash, insubordinate, and out of control." or in other words being like Kratos once was. To clinch it, Kratos brings up Atreus' mother because even if the boi cares nothing about Kratos at that point, he would still care about his mother.

This game is so good. The pacing is a bit weird, but the set pieces for the Baldur fights are something I would pay to watch in the cinema. The Boi's jarring change of personality was explained as magic shenanigans, so that's cool too. I was going to chalk it up to the greek in his blood making him act like a mythical greek hero, unable to conquer his hubris, just like Kratos, Ares, Zeus, Herakles, etc.

Well there are 3 minds on this: 1 Get the story done and nothing else 2 Get the story done, then clean up. 3 Do extra stuff during the story. I don't get peoples problem, the 2nd one doesn't make for a great LP (unless it's only bosses or something like that) and people would scream if they didn't get some of the extra dialog and rewards. People *did* scream at them every time they were able to get something they didn't have already, and yet people constantly complained when they do side stuff.

Lucas Martinez According to the game's director (I think), the actual reason behind Atreus's sudden shift in character was the result of time and budget constraints. They actually planned for his shift to be much more gradual but were forced to abridge it.

I'm bitching about a minor part of the game but it kind of killed my mood.

While it's easy to miss, my favorite part of this sequence is how it calls back to Kratos having Atreus learn the names of the sides of a boat, where in this sequence Atreus calls out to Kratos/you which sides of boat need their fires reignited. It's a subtle but satisfying bit of character growth for Atreus, while all I can imagine a giant bird ride being is pure spectacle.

I think he was actually in a sort of hormonal fugue state. Godhood seems to have a psychological component; thinking he was mortal disrupted his godhood and made him physically ill. Once he realized the truth, his godhood flooded his brain and got him on a chemical high. Think of a river that's dammed up. When the dam breaks, there's an inital flood of water downriver as the resevoir surges out. Eventually it drains and settles into a stable flow.

That's certainly a sound theory, but your theory would suggest a greater level of awareness of his actions as a result of a "chemical high." Thus upon the high ending and his mind stabilizing he would likely feel remorse for his actions. But in those last few scenes we didn't see remorse, we only got confusion and denial, the vision of the events that had JUST occurred where completely alien to the boy . Suggesting that he wasn't in control of his actions or senses. Considering the mystic nature of everything I assumed possession of some kind.

Oh my god these fights with Baldur are the HYPEST SHIT. He comes out of nowhere out of screen, and it just keeps going and going. Its so good. This is one time where I think the developers used the insane amount of money just right, you can see the budget at play here with the pure scale and spectacle of this game.

The writers demonstrating repeatedly that Kratos is actually full of fear, but doing so subtly, is great. His pride, even now, is so fundamental to his nature that fear of confronting past failures drives him. It may even be essential to his nature as a god. It may be something he can't even control: one of the many flaws of being a god with a specific nature he must inhabit.
