Fun Fact: Tales of the Borderlands was meant to stop much earlier as the upper management at Telltale saw it as a commercial failure. (By this point Minecraft Story Mode and The Walking Dead Season 1 were selling like hot cakes.) Lead writers and director Nick and Pierre stated later that they had to call in all their favors and cash in their years of hard work, just to convince management to let them finish the last episode with a skeleton crew, as their team was already being transferred to other games, like Minecraft. So what ended up happening was only a few key dedicated members, spending nights working overtime to finish the game, while receiving no compensation according to some and juggling the other projects management wanted from them.

GOD, I FREAKING LOVE JACK’S CHARACTER! This Jack is so unbelievably different from the end of BL2 that it hurts. This Jack was unaware of what had happened to his daughter and was still the Jack from most of Borderlands. The Jack at the end of BL2 is a completely delusional character that has doubly reinforced his hero complex due to the death of his daughter at the hands of his former best friends (and former lover) who betrayed him. At the end of BL2, he just talks to you in circles about how he can’t die to the Vault Hunters because he was the hero and they were the bandits. He goes on and on about the story not being the way it was supposed to be and you ultimately get a decision to either kill him yourself or let Lilith do it. In this game, Jack looks like he’s thought about how the world probably looked at him and it seems like he was genuinely understanding of how things went wrong. And then he tries to get one last little trick down and kill Rhys before he dies as well. I don’t know if he actually was able to look back and see where it went wrong but man is it one of the best points of Jack’s character throughout all of the games. The sheer difference between his two deaths is incredibly awesome in so many ways. One is him stubbornly refusing the end of his made-up hero story and the other reads more like a tragedy with the hero recognising that he might not have been the hero he thought he was all along. Either way, each of his deaths serve to really show you what Jack’s character truly is. AND I FREAKING LOVE IT!

Part of me really wants to track the timeline of what hologram-Jack knows. Like, at first, he doesn't even know he is a hologram and that the original dead, but eventually he figures stuff out. I suppose at the end, he has figured out that Angel betrayed him, but by not having the thing happen right in front of him, he gets kinda detached from it, and doesn't freak out about being a hero.

Well, the Vault Hun.. bandits are pretty much grave robbers, and Jack doesn't want these bandits to get their hands on the secrets of a Vault, so obviously he thinks of himself as a hero, which he in a twisted way is. He suffers from personality disorders, but he isn't really worse than the main characters in Borderlands in terms of what he does.
@ryanklip246 жыл бұрын
suddenllybah if you pick the “your daughter betrayed you?” Option, he says that in the time he’s been in the Helios network, he read up on everything that happened to him. Eh, I wouldn't say he's great. He's interesting, but he's too stupid kick-the-puppy-for-teh-evuls evil for my liking. He has potential, but he's not well handled. They do handle him a bit better here, but in BL2 and TPS he doesn't feel right. Like, a lot of his "mastermind" schemes have obvious drawbacks to them. For example, he has a massive army of robots and he knows where the enemy base is, he knows the shields are grabbing out and he knows there aren't many defenders. Does he rush the enemy base and besiege them? No. He pokes them occasionally with orbital bombardments and hatches a convoluted plot that involves getting his most feared soldier getting killed, that ultimately fails. That is dumb. I do not consider characters who dumb things to be great, especially if the writer is trying to get me to believe he's some sort of evil genius. His backstory isn't right either. Where did he get the funding to build a containment field for Angel's Siren power? How did Hyperion not find out about her? If they did know, why didn't they just kill Jack so that the only family Angel knows is Hyperion? Its something that they really should have developed further. As I said, great potential, sloppy execution.

However, if he did this mix of Saw and Resident Evil, where he has places, like a mansion out in a mountain forest, where he locks people in with one or more of these monsters so he can film it and make more realistic movies, I'd have a bigger problem with that. I think it's because, if he just set them loose on the world, what would he have to gain from that? That would just be basic, generic villain stuff, he's probably doing it just cause he can. If he was kidnapping people so he could make a movie of them either dying or escaping the monsters, he'd have proper motivation as a total psycho.

So if Jack is an AI created by Nakayama, wouldn't that mean there could be backups? He seems like the sort of guy he would back up his pet project.

Kinda sad that neither mat or Woolie knows anything about borderlands. There are so many references and you miss out on alot by not playing the other games.

Wasn't Yvette still onboard?
@zachataxxii71266 жыл бұрын
Yep. She's dead now, probably. Then again, if Kroger survived....
@chrisossu20706 жыл бұрын
Well, Kroger was near the escape pods. Yvette was stuck in a holding cell.

She's super dead. It's funny because Matt antagonized her so much that he didn't even get the option to let her out of her cell, in that case, she would've been down in Pandora with Vaughn's tribe too.
@simbadg136 жыл бұрын
Yes she was BUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT SPOILERS If you are nice and tell her you're rhys she eventually tells you that the deal was to get you to Hyperion ALIVE and then save you. You can let yvette out of the cell and she joins the crew and survives the rest of the game.

Didn't Jack say he wanted to check up on Angel? Did he mean her body/grave or is she somehow still alive?
@FalselyProfound6 жыл бұрын
He didn't know she was dead in Episode 4. It's not until he takes over Helios that he figures it out.

My question is, how did Telltale keep getting to work with all these top-tier licensed properties when their sales were so bad?
@markymo11156 жыл бұрын
I think they acquired a bunch of the licenses all at the same time right after the success of walking dead season 1

Crushing the eye im pretty sure destroys the jack AI. So if you keep the eye a fragment of jack stays alive or something along those lines.

"Are vaults worth it?" Not really all vaults so far have a monster(even by Pandora/borderland standards) guarding it and the loot in game is just guns of varying quality with money and in 2 eridium.
@JackOfen6 жыл бұрын
That's not all. The vault from BL1 also released Eridium, which is how Hyperion became so powerful in the first place. The one from BLPS contained kbowledge and the ability to see future events. The one from BL2 had a map with all the other vaults in the universe.

The spookiest end of the biggest villain in the Borderlands Series given to Telltale.
