All the monitor vendors who flag G-Sync seem to outright refuse to list the two others, yet plenty of people report compatibility. Are there compatibility rules that are always present, or is it a vendor-by-vendor or model-by-model type situation?

@@AndySomething Anything to do with PayPal is dubious at best. Please watch Kirk Miller's videos on youtube, he details his frustrating experience being an early adopter for the Eve V, ordering 2 and to date receiving none. He also details Eve lying on their community updates, Eve's ties to a Chinese company that they tried to hide behind for the reason of many, many people not receiving their Eve V. Hell Eve was even taken to court for being $1 million in debt, and they only escaped being forcefully declared bankrupt by claiming "We have a new product coming (Eve Spectrum) with lots of pre-order money, so we can still pay it back" (with the pre-order money that's supposed to go into building the monitors lol). I was really interested in this monitor 2 months ago but there's so much scammy bullshit swept under the rug with this company, their reddit is heavily moderated against anyone trying to call them out. Please heed my advice to avoid! Worst case if this product EVER comes to their customers, you can buy it then.

Look up reviews for its predecessor the LG C9 (this only came in a 55inch version at the smallest). The LG C9 beats every gaming monitor in every single category. The only thing you can fault it is that it is "only" 120hz (144hz doesn't really matter), and it doesn't have display port, where HDMI 2.1 is still hard to connect to since this year's graphics cards are just now coming out with it.

@@sqlevolicious I think that's very untrue and very anecdotal of you to say, and no idea where you got that statistic from but I've seen different times numbers that don't agree with that. 4k is a buzzword for people and it has plenty of users, and the tech is there now to make use of it more than ever. Also, if he's gonna take the time to benchmark dozens of videos over it, what is 3 to 4 more minutes in a video like this gonna hurt even if what you said is true? Lol. Let a consumer make an informed decision, even if the monitor benefit isn't something that works for you. I’m just curious, what’s your setup looking like? I mean you’re not at a desk if you’re using a 55 inch tv so do you game in a gaming chair a few feet from the tv or do you sit in a couch/recliner? I ask because I’m considering switching from PlayStation to a PC and am trying to decide if I want a monitor at a desk or a really big tv, say Samsung Q90T 85 inches. I have 2 OLEDs, 55 B6 and 65C7, but I had issues with burn in on the C7 so I don’t wanna go that route with a gaming tv haha

@@jamesadkinsiii7925 It's a desk actually...something IKEA with big metal T looking legs. The legs are a white T, but upside down. It's big...but I'm still right in front of the TV :D I wanted the 48'' model, but in my country they said that MAYBE they will have it some time in 2021 and I was like meh, I'm buying the 55'' then. It's super immersive for some tasks and bad for others...but I like it. I also have consoles and stuff and I'm an artist sooo this big screen could be a good thing. I hope my eyes can handle it tho. I've been in front of a 40''+ TV for the past...11 years. What's 15''+ more... :D But tbh...43'' is the maximum in my opinion...for this close as I am. It's just that...gaming monitors with those specs and around 43'' either don't exist or cost more than a car AND they don't make OLEDs so small...So I guess...if they ever start selling the 48'' LG CX in my country, I'll sell the 55'' and buy it. I also got the 55'' at a 30% discount so...selling it wont be a huge loss for me. But let's see, I might get used to it.

If you have the ability to use a fairly large TV, this is superior for immersion and AAA and AA and indie/old games than ANY other LCD gaming panel by far. It also is better for competitive gaming thant 120-144hz LCD panels, but not as good as 1080p 360hz or 1440p 240hz for that.

Many people are argue "what is the point of going 4k if your display is too small" but I would argue the opposite. What is the point of upgrading to 4k only to end up losing Pixel density in the process. 40" is the absolutely maxium I would go since it has at least the same PPI 1440p 27inch but really I would want it to be sharper.

Hey guys, Thanks for your review. It's a very on point "follow up content" that's very much in the style of your channel. I added my 3 cents below for those shopping around and looking for an additional point of view. - Yes, Jay upped the ante by trade marking 2cents ;) - But before even getting into this, people, go in your display settings in windows and actually check or set your refresh rate manually to whatever max value it can provide. Almost all displays are at 60Hz by default. You would not believe how many people take the display out of the box, plug it in and start playing. Never aware they're actually playing at 60Hz the whole time eventhough they payed for 3 times this speed. It's a bit like XMP for RAM. Another tip to give here is make sure the DP or HDMI cable you're using is able to transmit your resolution at the desired speed. Buying an expensive 244Hz display and connecting it with an old cable from 5 years ago that was just lying around is another common mistake. I personally have a Dell s3220dgf. Surprisingly cheap at the 400 to 500 $ price point, depending on offers, considering its 4ms response time and very good build quality. It's a wide and tall display, for those who enjoy lots of screen real estate (e.g. if being used for work & gaming). 32 inch curved is a nice format in my opinion and 165 Hz at 1440p is for me a perfect sweet spot at the moment. That's because you actually can get to 165 FPS consistently in most games at this resolution especially if you reduce settings in ways that make no visual differences whatsoever, so you'll use your display fully. For the best experience you want to be above 165 FPS, say 180 and cap your FPS at 165 Hz (or your screen refresh rate) in game settings. This will make your frame time extremely consistent while gaming which gives you a better fluidity and immersion than super high but inconsistent refresh rates. Average and variance in frame times is the performance criteria gamers and reviewers should actually focus on, more so than just average FPS. I personally cannot see the difference anymore past a certain refresh rate. I am sure I'd barely see the difference between my 165Hz and a 120Hz. 244Hz sounds absolutely overkill, especially since no GPU will deliver this consistently and at max settings (incl. RT) in the coming (5?) years. I'm not an esport gamer. I don't game 30 hours per week so when I do I want it to be an experience. I push settings to the max, I want to use RT in games that make sense and I'm perfectly fine at 165 Hz. I would assume most gamers are in my situation. I also find ultrawide curved display significantly more immersive but that's another kind of subjective point. 27" flat seems to be a format better left in the early 2010s just as 1080p is an obsolete resolution at this point (unless you're an esport gamer). Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely fine if you're gaming at 1080p and are content with the result. But if you are currently upgrading your hardware though, there's not many reasons to stick with this resolution anymore. Personally, I would make the move to 4k before making the move to 244Hz. The significantly increased crispiness of the image greatly overweighs the barely perceptible added fluidity. I would probably also go for a bigger display before going for a higher refresh rate. If you're about to break the bank, go check out some screens at your local HW store (I know at the moment it's not easy) to see if refresh rate is important to you. I really feel like 165Hz is a luxury already and I doubt 244Hz will make a difference for most people. It usually makes a difference in the price though..

There is a video on this channel covering it, which is why I purchased it. I typically use adaptive sync, but cap framerate in RTSS at different levels in each, based on necessity.

@@eyebash1 They usually sell out pretty quick. But Best Buy has them in stock right now. If possible though, I would suggest buying from a retailer in-person so that you don't have to worry about it getting damaged in shipping or something. www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-27-ultragear-uhd-nano-ips-1ms-144hz-g-sync-compatible-gaming-monitor-with-hdr-black/6423550.p?skuId=6423550&ref=212&loc=1

I don't get why I anyone is not recommending the HP Omen 27i. It came out in 2020 and it has the same panel of the LG27GL850 but with a higher refresh rate, G-Sync and Free-Sync and a very minimal and stylish design without that crappy gamer stuff on it.

I got the LG 27GL850 based on HU recommendation. Unfortunately it had horrible bleed, sent it back. It's replacement, had bleed too but OK not nick picky. Few weeks later dead pixels start to pop up, sent it back. I went for ViewSonic XG270QG, which had excellent reviews everywhere, I'm so pleased with it, no visible bleed and its build quality is excellent. I have to say it, a true G-Sync module monitor it does makes a worthy difference, Gsync Software compatible is not definitely not as smooth vs hardware module. I would like to make a warn for the G7 Odyssey Monitor, there is a huge back-lash for a unsolved flickering issue, with this monitor If you are interest please digg on forums, you can find many KZbin videos looking into this issue.

I suggest the HP Omen X27 for 1440p 240hz also ($580). you guys reviewed it relatively recently and gave it a great review. ive been super happy with it in the short time i've had it. definitely recommend to anyone who wants to stay at 1440p until high fps gaming in 4k becomes a thing....which i dont see happening for 4-5 more years. i just dont see why anyone would rather game at 4k 60fps instead of 1440p 150+fps. we dont build high-end pc's to game at 60fps. hell, you could save yourself $2,000+ and just buy a console if you want to game at 4k 60fps.

The pandemic. It has fucked up everything. Shipping is a problem, so supplies to manufacturers is a problem, so supplies to consumers is a problem. Local outbreaks have stopped entire factories for weeks or months... And you only need to run out of one single component before an entire product line comes to a grinding halt.

@@andersjjensen I get that, but it seems monitors like the pg27uqx were announced at CES 2019 and still don't seem to be available so, while C19 has been bad for everything, I am not sure it explains all of these delays.

I've tried so many 1440p monitors and they are all average. I have the Odyssey G7 now and im liking the colors that much and it looks a little less sharp than an ips panel, however the contrast and black levels are okay which ips panels lacks. There is always a huge trade off, hopefully there will be more 4k high end monitors coming from now on.
