SOS is awesome, he has done maintenance and installed new garage opener for me and my father. He does great work, honest and showed me how to do the maintenance myself.

Thank you for your post. I bought a can of the SuperSlickSlickStuff. It does have a pleasant scent and I appreciate the short straw like applicator. It still comes out rather forceful and does splatter a bit, so have some paper towel handy when applying.

I have always used those little handpumps and fill them with engine oil (10W40 or 5W10). In the past i used White grease spray, but that leaves a mess behind, and attracts dust.

So, the comparison of the products was good and many of the other comments are good. But, what I would also like to know is - if I am in the store looking for a lubricant - short of spraying a little bit out - how would I identify a more "liquidy" type product vs a more "foamy" type product? Is there a specific ingredient in the product that make the difference? Appreciate the information and suggestions.
@sosgds2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes indeed! The silicone lubricants will spray on runny and can drip. I like to apply these types of lubricants by starting on the top roller and just let it drip down. This can save you lube as you apply less on the other rollers. The lithium based lubricants will leave a sticky film along the rollers. If you cheaper rollers then I would use a lithium based lube. If you have a bearing roller, silicone lubes all day.

I live in the midatlantic. Is there a best brand or model garage door company or model that is not for people that make 100k or more a year? I care more about quality/ durability vs color or style.Is a steel the best quality/strength/durability/non rust... Or do some brands and models very greatly? I need 2 smaller/normal garage doors. Opener quality? Clear winner and looser/crap? Thank you.

Hello. These are great questions. Mid-America might be big in your area. Hauus Doors are very sought after also. I prefer C.H.I. and Wayne Dalton for a custom made door.

How could you miss testing Blaster garage door lubricant? Same results as get some and super slick but 50-75 less price!! $5 vs 11 or 15$!

Hey John! Great suggestion. I do like some of the Blaster products. Maybe I will have to do a versus video between the two lubricants. Stay safe party person!

I tell people to use the one by 3n1 garage door lube. How do you think that stacks up. Reason why I recommend is because you can find it at the hardware stores reliability and 3n1 has been around for a while with a prominent brand, never really tested it out like this.

Hey Justin! Thanks for the great question. Yes I have used it. I find the smell to be a bit harsh. Some customers have complained about it. So when I use the Super Slick Slick or GS1000 they don't complain as much. It's strange but it's a common complaint I get.

Anybody have a trick keep the drips off your car? I have waited several hours before bringing the car back in. I've tried wiping the screw drive when finished lubing, but its so messy. All these videos show nice clean garages so I know you're not making a mess. What's the secret??

wipe everything down as you spray.. super thin coatings are the best

Hello! Great question! I prefer to wipe down after applying on the hinges. Yet I mainly focus on spraying the rollers. I also prefer to use a dry lube as it does not run as much.

best oil out there is 3 and 1 Garage door oil. Last the entire can, and has 2 spray settings. Plus it has less pressure against over spray. Place on your ladder. Homeowner takes a picture, and they can pick-up at there next Home Depot visit. Always oil bottom brackets. Especially where cable connects. A big problem with salt or moisture coming thru the concrete. And this works as a rust inhibitor.

Good video. Call me a rebel but WD40 will lubricate and quiet garage door squeaks. I use it all the time on various moving metal parts and it never fails me. And NO it will not degrade rubber parts. Problem with all these specialty lube products is that you need to buy a bunch of them to have the "optimum" one for each specific problem, and these cans do have expiration dates.
@sabugdalantx Жыл бұрын
Be careful - if you use WD40 on your garage door parts, you'll put extra wear and tear on them. For instance, WD40 can actually soften and deform nylon rollers. Plus, it'll attract dirt and debris, making for gunked up tracks and gears, and a noisy, rickety garage door
