I don't think it's best to delete the 'worst' shot based on if it's in the water or not. I would've gone for the furtherest off centre personally. The water isn't always going to be there, but your dispersion will always be there.

Thank you so much. Finally a club fitting aimed at us high handcappers who are still developing our swing. I started playing a couple of years ago with a bargain basement set of old Mizunos. I've been trying to get fitted for a new set but no one in our area seems to be interested in helping beginners unless they seem a performance increase. Mine are battered with missing backs and they feel too short - its time to trade that old wreck of a car in and buy a new one! Also, fair play to Brent - I felt all his pain and joy throughout the video - please pass on my thanks for being every beginners stunt double for the purposes of this video.
@mikeward29223 ай бұрын
I'm right there with you. I haven't played in years and was that guy who played with hand-me-down clubs and surely not fitted correctly given I'm 5'5" with short arms but with athleticism. Think typical football fullback. So, I'm hoping to at least get into a decent set, but the outdoor fitters near me are definitely tying the fitting to choosing and buying from them. That's okay, I need them, but I really want to get the fitting to at least see where I am in terms of the entire ball park. Am I in, out, or what. I'm on some old King Cobra irons right now - they're way too much blade, too long, and it definitely shows at the range.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Alot of people say get lessons which I totally agree with but imo its really important to find a set of clubs that fit. Brent showed a lot of heart in putting his swing on YT. I know there were a few negative comments about his swing, I hope Brent ignores them. As long as Brent is enjoying his golf, I do not care how his swing looks. In order to improve the video I would suggest include the lofts of each of the clubs. Hopefully there is another video where Brent gets fitted for shafts for both the Cobra and Mizuno and lets see which club comes out on top.

@@Thewaldo12345I’ve been trying out a bunch of different irons. For me I saw an increase in distance and efficiency. For example my r7 7 iron will carry 168 yds with a 1.34 smash factor. Where as something like the Ping G430s, I was carrying a 7 iron 192 yds with a 1.48 smash factor. It all sounds nice, but the result is a huge yardage gap between where the irons end and wedges begin. Ping does have a retro set that weakens the lofts. I just don’t know if it’s enough. Maybe I’ll just need to carry extra wedges. The one thing that surprises me the most is I saw no improvement in accuracy over the r7s with anything I tested.

First of all I'd like to say this was one of the best fitting sessions I've seen for the simple fact the golfer was like me, better actually from the scores he says he has. I'd like to see a follow u with the top 2 with shaft changes, loft, lie and length analysis. Maybe hitting on a hole makes sense for a low hdcp golfer but overall and especially with a high handicapper I would suggest using the driving range simulation. You're after the shot, not affects of sand or water or trees. Its about the numbers. It would be similar to choosing a sea side course with a lot of wind to judge ball flight characteristics.

It's easy to make fun of some random person's swing, but the reality is we all started somewhere. I've been very recently humbled by an old swing video of mine from late 2022, so at least he was willing to put it out on the internet. Fitting is hard with a swing like this that creates more opportunity for inconsistency, but I think it's also helpful to see how having the right club/shaft combo can help with that while you improve the swing. A ball fitting would be beneficial for most people as well. I would love to see that in some future videos for different handicaps/skill levels.
@jpwantland29609 ай бұрын
OMG dude you found my clone, Brent, to do the game improvement iron fitting. Finally, a mid-high handicapper that I can relate to instead of a scratch golfer hitting the game improvement irons. By the way, I watched the video where you reviewed the game improvement irons and at the end of the video you said you would be bringing in a mid-high handicapper to also review the irons. I watch a crap load of KZbin golf videos and this video ranks in my Top 5. Plus, I pushed the subscribe and like buttons after watching it today. One must never forget that the mid-high handicappers far outnumber the low-scratch handicappers. And we mid-high golfers are more prone to drink the Kool-Aid if we think it will trim strokes off our game on a continual basis.

Nice to have a high handicapper rating clubs, as many YT reviewers ratings dont translate to the higher handicapper, as this example just showed with a very different ranking. One point I would make in pulling out the worst shot, I would do it by absolute deviation from the center line, not based upon a simulated water location on a particular hole and leaving in a shot with worse dispersion just because one happened to get lucky on that hole and hit it so far off line that you were actually wide of the water on that particular hole. Because the goal is to hit the ball straight according to a target line, and so the deviation should be based on distance from the center, regardless of the trouble left or right on that particular simulated hole. Hitting left of the water would be your worst shot on most holes, but you just got lucky on that particular hole that the hit was so bad it was left of the water. So, it should be measured in general terms, with the farther from the center line, the worse the shot.

I wanted to love the stealths or hot metals but the ping G430 were actually my best but too pricey. Very cool to watch this video! I should have watched it when it came out, but it just popped up for me - I'd have been interested to try some of these myself. I just bought the Ping G425 last month; I also bought a new putter, so I decided going with the second latest in tech was OK, and left me with the money for the putter. I'm a 17 handicap so I felt all of this. I'd been playing stiff shafts, but at 56 years old, I figured it was time for me to give that up. My swing isn't nearly as strong as Brent's. Used to be, but no more. My miss has nearly consistently been short and right, so the Ping with the offset head was a good solution for me.

In a tradition iron set the length of every club is different. 4 iron is the longest and your wedge is the shortest. With the cobra one length irons the 4 iron and Wedge are the same length. The idea is one swing for every club.

Great video I definitely relate but I’d rather get lessons from my cousin, then later buy irons when I can consistently hit fairways. Definitely was already thinking Titleist T300’s.

Brent. Hats off to you. Your scores are pretty identical to mine. I’m looking to buy irons so this was important. It basically taught me that if you like it, you can make it work. Like marriage

i think you should determine best and worst of shot group and center line, not if it landed in the fake water or not, because you could be running this simulator in an open field, so i dont think water lie is a good factor of swing consistency

It would've been interesting to see him the normal Paradyms instead of the X's (which are draw biased iirc and would tend to pull hard left for him). I've tried one and it's so much nicer to hit than my Lynx Predators that i'm getting a fitting next week... really excited!

my mishits are left, because i use more power and its easier to swing out to in. When I need accuracy its in to out and does a nice fade but loses alot of yardage. When everything comes togather! yardage is 5 yards less than the power misses but straight, Its good to see avg players come in and test these clubs!!! Amazing video hats off to you guys(channel)!

Great video. It’s funny cos I went in to test out some clubs and I was hitting Mizuno Pro 225’s better than the JPX Hot Metal Pro’s and now I like players distance more than game improvement because of feel and dispersion and I’m a high handicapper

Thanks! Ya it's funny that way. Just gotta find what works for ya. 🍻

Great review of the clubs. Id 100% be spending money on getting that swing corrected b4 buying new clubs. Well done though 👏

Were all of these irons equipped with graphite shafts?
@KyleFalconer18 ай бұрын
I love the video and the relatability. I think Brent could use lessons and a sizing session. My gut tells me the shaft lengths are too long for him, it looked to me like he was up on his toes trying to make good contact.

I’ve got a fitting at GOLFTEC and using only 7-P of the Ping G430 regular launch with senior graphite shafts. I am 68 and need every advantage . They gave me 10 yards plus great consistency. I really liked the looks of the JPX but didn’t hit it as good. To each their own I’d say.

Golftec is great. I'm glad you found something that works. Ya exactly, everyone is different.

I'm a big Cleveland cbx zipcore wedge fan, and am looking forward to the new cbx zipcore xl irons. Really hoping they blend with the wedges. Have you seen them yet? Cheers

I know everyone is a critic - but how about the 923 HM pro? Less offset for his left miss and he liked the looks. It’s like the zx4 but more forgiving and less offset. 🤷♂️ fun to watch!
@NewNineGolf10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I think the "pro" name itself might intimidate him. Haha. Wouldn't hurt to try though for sure when he does a full fitting.

Funny I did a quick and dirty fitting over the summer and ended up picking the Cobras over the T350 after swinging 6-7 different clubs.

The look of the Srixxon at address, for a game improvement iron, is just... 🤤

Shafts can make or break the feel. Also grips and grip size makes a huge difference..Its not just the head..

great video,.I wanted to try the JPX 923 HM HL, but went with Stealth HD's. Would love to see some hybrid options vs 4 - 7 iron.

Hey man new to the channel, really good content helping me a lot with my decision on which clubs to get. Just one question I’m really wondering questions around what are some of your favorite shafts. A lot of companies offer a multitude of different brands and types. Going for a stiff feel and just wondering what brands and shafts you can’t go wrong with. Hopefully some of the options will be free on the websites(multitude of them are). Thank you man!
@NewNineGolf4 ай бұрын
The only shaft I suggest for you is the one you get fit for 🤷♂️ Sorry that’s probably not the answer you were looking for but it’s the only right answer.

M4's are not bad irons. I came back to the game in 2020 after a 15 year layoff and started back with some used TOUR BURNERS. AGE DIFFERENCE BTWN PLAYING was 42 to 57. Speed and back are not the same as before, so for the first time in life, I took two lessons, driver and irons. Got to a 16 HCP and got fitted for TaylorMade SIM2 MAX OS, VENTUS 6 65G shafts, midsize grips. Now, Im at a 10 HCP and I LIVE IT!!! Not buying clubs again till these are wore out. I live in PINEHURST and I play ALL OVER. AVG is about an 81. This guy has incredible clubhead speed, but before he buys clubs, he should get a lesson on stance and swing. It would definitely help him before he buys any clubs.

That's awesome you for fitted for clubs you love and that work! I agree and he's actually starting to get lessons right now. Thanks for watching and your comment. 🍻

can you "show all" - or overlay each set? it would be amazing to see the single page comparison of each set, its separated by color already

I agree that looks and sound are important for helping with confidence, but ultimately it's about improving your game if you are going to drop a lot of cash for new clubs, I think.

Is a stiff shaft right for his club speed? Just asking as ive just been fitted for wilson d9 forged irons with a similar club speed, i had a 180 on my good swings but apparently stiff shaft is for 85mph+
@NewNineGolf9 ай бұрын
It depends on the shaft. My guess is he's probably between a regular and a stiff and could probably benefit from a regular or a lighter one to get his spin up. But he does have an aggressive transition though so I'm kinda interested to get him in for a fitting to see. 🍻
