The natural inbred protection of the Corso blows me away, I wouldn’t swap my corso for the world, she’s 100% loving, loyal & faithful to the point where I could honestly hand on heart say that without a doubt she’d put her life before any of her family members, plus I’ve never needed to use my property alarm system since she arrived 😂 she is the most alert dog I have ever known, and constantly aware of everything that’s going on around her. After all that’s said they are a huge handful of a dog that needs a hell of a lot of training and maintenance. But like any dog if your prepared to put the time and effort in, then what you get back from your corso is what I’d class as one of the best breeds out there

There was nothing on Earth like my Boerboel. My French mastiff trusted and relied on me to protect him from everything. My Boerboel, though, was switched on ALL the time. Hated strangers with a passion and wanted to kill everyone, but was an angel with me. Wouldn't even leave my side to run and play in private fields.

I live on the Texas border and I got an Anatolian Shepherd, he’s 5 months old now and I’m already so happy with him. So sweet and kind with my son and our sheep, but he’s already scared off people coming through our property and he’s only at half the size he will be.

Amazing dogs! People said that they are so hard to train. I actually think it's the opposite. I mean sure it's not like the german shepherd I had who could go and fetch the newspaper on command and a million other things. But so much easier to live with. I've got 2 kangals now. And it's the best dogs I've had. Close second would be boerboel. And the added bonus, let's just say I haven't seen my stalker since I got them. :P

Wish this was a top 10-20 list, but as always great content and insightful perspectives from Will whether you agree with him or not.. However in my opinion, the Doberman and Rottweiler should have been on the list especially as they are still way more common in service in homes and with security services globally compared to the Corso. I do love the Corso as I do have one, but I personally would have had him as 3 and the German breeds higher. Thanks for sharing Will

Got myself a Mali. Although the Corso is great, but our girl will get the job done and is amazing with the family. Even as far as the family cat. She is alot of work and requires alot of attention and basically with me nearly all of the time. When she is in hmguard mode she is astoundingly alert and reliable. Her recall is second to none

I own one too! I spoke up for her at two weeks of age. Didnt know this lady but she called me at seven weeks old to meet her. She lived in another state. She gave her to me. Wonderful gift! She helped me get through my cancer surgeries. Very protective of me. Watches everywhere I am when at home. Very loyal and a real sweetheart! Love my girl! She amazes me at things that she does on her own. These are very smart and lovable dogs! Love to please their owner. I love most dogs! Great to have around. Not a dog for everyone!

I have a two year old male. He is magnificent and such a natural guardian. He is sleek, intimidating, and deliberate. Strong willed, but wanting to please his family, he requires constant and consistent training. My boy is about 28 inches at the shoulder and 125 pounds. I've had Dobermans, German Shepherds, and a number of other large-breed dogs. All were good and loyal pals, but this guy is beyond what I could have ever expected.

I have a large pitbull, he protects and guards me when we're out and about. However if a burglar broke into my home, he'd just wag his tail and greet them. Pretty typical to the breed. If I ever move to a bigger home I'll probably get a guarding breed dog as well.

My Mastiff is an excellent guard dog of property. He’s never shown a tendency to protect my person. My Newfie is the opposite. She didn’t care to much about property, but circled me like a shark and moved in to protect me when necessary.

We had a Newfie in the family for almost a decade. The neighbors down the way got a pair of pit bulls that they let charge people on the sidewalk. My sister walks by with Duke, yeah they stayed on the porch after that and eventually became good neighborhood dogs. Duke was a good boy like that, it was just about making sure everybody got along.

I'm so torn. I've worked K9 as a LEO. I had so many perfect dogs. Never a bad one. Been researching the Cane for years. Had old English, Fila, boerbel, rott, dobe. My male is 13 ish. No idea what direction. 😮

I think the Cane Corso's popularity is do to Jason Cory and his awesome Cane Corso "Bruce Wayne" and now also "Joey Justice" two very outstanding representatives of the breed!

I woke up to find out someone had broke off into my house my female presa was on top of him he ran out the front door push the clothes she jumped through the screen door and was on him again until I pulled her off. I would had hate to think what would happen me sleep on the couch with the intruder in the house she was right there doing her job.

This is a good video but for me the best guard to is a American Pitbull Terrier Rottweiler cross first generator. Probably not legal in the UK but the best guard dog you can get. Extremely tolerant with children and family , friendly with people when the owners are around but once engaged there is no separation of this dog from his target. Average weight around 40 kg with Rottweiler strength but with endurance and engagement of a Pitbull.

Everyone knows that these dogs have excessive energy if you can't burn these, They will show some serious problems in their behaviour. Everyone knows if a English Mastiff bite any of these dogs they will cut in half. If you don't know or accept these things then you know nothing about dog breeds.

My list would be Boerboel, Kangal and either Alabai or Caucasian shepherd.. No specific order. What dog I would get would depend on how I was living and the family situation.

@@neverbored8589 yeah they weight a bit. But I have never had a single problem with controlling any of the dogs I’ve had. Some had more inherite guard instinct than others of course and were absolutely not social butterflies. But the ones who was like that I trained soooo much more with. To know that no matter the situatio. They would listen. And there have been situations where if I had not done that. It would have been bad! Like my Boerboel/caucasian Shepherd mix she was very stable and listened very very well, loved working. But was absolutely not found of strangers. So with her I had to train a shit ton. To feel like I could bring her evetywhere. Because even though she was stable she was not found of strangers. If they didn't acknowledge us. Everything was fine. They could even accidentally bump in to her. But if they broke their path to talk to us. Then she’d react. The 2 kangals and the alabai/Kangal I have now are very mild mannered normally. Never overreact but they also don't let real threats pass. But I mean it's a daycare pretty close to where I live and all the kids just rush them to pet them. And they LOVE to just relax there and get spoiled with cuddles. I bring them on the bus, to town, to my doctors appointments, literally everywhere. So they definitely know when to use their social skills and when to drop them. Used to take care of a friends Alabai and she had a few things to work on when I got her. But after two weeks everything was perfectly fine. So the fact that they outweigh me has never mattered. 😊

i watched security camera footage of a pitbull save his female owner when a scumbag broke into her house and chased her into her bedroom. No idea what he had planned but he quickly ran out of the room as her pitbull went to town on him. In that scenario a chihuahua would have been next to useless. Powerful dogs can save lives while noisy barkers can only bark.

So many corsos in rescues and the shelters in the US. Backyard breeders are cranking out the poor quality puppies for big $. The inexperienced buyers can't handle the dog once it reaches maturity.
