Glad you found Harbor Freight. There's a pretty good way to hold the foam in shape once you've picked and plucked to fit your firearm. Spray Flex Seal on the foam (without the firearm in place). Works pretty good.

Might have to try that, the 1800 is small and tight enough for my Ruger EC9s and spare mags on the bottom, but may have to use that trick on the bigger cases if they start getting real loose.

@@joshua_J Sir, Once you've picked and plucked, you learn real quick the strucutural integrity of the foam is deminished. After you start carrying a firearm sit in the case on it's side. You'll find gravity takes it's toll. I store two AR uppers in a case and let it sit on it's side for a long time. After awhile the foam shifted and some pieces tore loose. A product like Flex Seal added some structure. I was skeptical till a buddy of mine did it. P.S. There's no panacea, this is a "life hack". IMO best solution is to custom cut block foam with a wire hot knife, second its to use an electric knive like some people use to carve their T-giving turkey..

I bought a model 3800 a few days ago. I configured it to carry 7 weapons with 2 seperate magazines per handgun, and on the second level i even made a pocket for my wheel guns with 2 compartments for their speed loaders as well. Btw, I bought mine to carry whatever weapons I need to bring the range. I'm stoked about it! I'm glad you discovered Harbor Freight.

They are nice cases for the money. I haven't purchased any for my pistols, but I have actually bought two different sizes for two different on/off road motorcycles I have owned lately. They work good for that also. Nice foam inside and they are water tight also.

Hey brother. Pull out the top piece of foam in the bottom and you can put two pistols underneath and two more on top like you had it. Total of 4 in that case

I have several cases from Harbor Freight. Very pleased. Harbor Freight is a strange store. Somethings are great, other things you might want to consider more carefully, but those cases are well-made and indestructable.

i bought one for my drone years ago. Works great. Bought one that fits perfect in a backpack-->very important. just neglected desiccant pouches for moisture ..Harbor Freight is awesome, after I'm done using their one off tools (tools I'll never ever use again) i sell "my" tool on offer up rather than return it) (unethical to return).. Great choice for gun case. When I told you I had several metal reinforced cases those are the ones I was referring to. I bought all black cases, but as you saw, Harbor Freight has several colors. I got one of their double rifle cases with wheels and use it when I go to the ranch or range.

Was just at Harbor Freight before going to work today. Needed to pick up a new drill. They had a special going where everyone who comes in gets a free microfiber cloth, was supposed to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They said they ran out a couple hours after they opened on Friday.

That is a nice case for the money. Sometimes they have sales and coupons for specific items. I will go there for a gun case. Just do you have the weight of the case. Is it light because remember today you always have strict weight limits? I do like Harbor Freight. Never thought of them for gun cases but now looks good.

Yes, I've been using these for years for my knives ( yes, I'm a knife guy ) and sharpening stuff. I believe there are companies that will cut custom foam inserts too.

Looks like the one I carry my .41Mag Ruger Blackhawk in. Gotta get a new foam pad for it. I dont like the way the pull apart foam has loosened up over the last couple years.

They work for other stuff too. I use one of their cases for a depth/fish finder. I take unit off boat when traveling, and put in in the case.

Thanks for the info. I do buy some items at Harbor Freight. Recently got a similar case at my local Northern Tool store. I plan to store a ruger pistola in it. Sorry about the baggage thugs stealing folks valuables, lucky for you they only got the knives. That would still make me fighting mad. They will get caught eventually.

Plenty of videos on youtube on how to configure these. You can fit 4 guns in that case.....not including extra mags. Look also for the vids that show you how to plastidip the foam. Great cases.

No one commented about that knob he was turning, it's a sealed case. That knob is a valve to regulate air pressure. It needs to be open when put on a airplane, luggage areas are not pressurized, and the case can rupture during a change in air pressure.

Sucks what happened. I've been using the Apache brand cases for years. No complaints. Bing bangs, Camera equipment, RC controllers.....You name it. Can't justify the price of Pelican.

As thick as the case is I would think that you could remove the pick and pluck foam and replace it with a couple thinner layers of foam and put your knives and maybe a couple of spare magazines in there too.

What I wondered was if the foam is stiff enough to hold the pews in place. I bought one from fleet farm and it would hold A pew in place but if I out a 2nd pew in it would shift all over the place...

I use cases like this to hold my RC Airplane Transmitters. Comes in a soft case but that doesn't help when the flight box falls over on it.

Me and my buddy found a few cases from harbor freight. They are very customizable with the pick n pluck foam. They look great and are very affordable. Become a member and save even more money. Also, the Pittsburgh tools all have a lifetime warranty. Edit: I personally don't pick the foam for the same reason as you but my buddy did pluck it for his bul armory 1911

A lot of the cases you find are rugged, and have good lock holes, and latches but sometimes they drop the ball on the hinges. some of the ones out there make me worry.

I think when I bought my 2800 it was on sale for $20 now they would only let me get the black 1 for that $ but hey they are pretty cool.... I avoid Harbor Freight even tho I have been there. Everything is Chinese stuff. Like everything! Granted that seems the way things are going in this country but it bugs me. I wish more people would try buying American products (even tho it's hard to do sometimes). I'll personally spend a little more to buy something besides a Chinese made product. I will admit though I probably spent way too damn much on my Pelican rifle case. Ouch that was expensive!
