I just got into Sweden tier 3 after getting there with every other nation besides Japan. The extreme depression angles allow to to hide in some truly bullshit spots, and to hit people that essentially cannot even see you.

What i look for in a tank is the ability to get *out* of trouble, whether it's through its armor, speed or reload rate. I love heavy tanks, sitting on a cap point with impunity is the literal best until something drops from the sky.

War thunder devs! not sure if you'll be able to answer this one on "The Shooting Range" (because it is an "will you add this" question), but have you ever considered adding flare-shells for night battles? since they exist IRL, and have it work like the fire from downed aircraft and so on. I was in a 7.3 AB game awhile back where I had to crash the special planes into the important places on the map to illuminate them for our team. it was stressful, but soo fun at the same time. having flares for it would make life so much easier for the players who have no NVD.

I go for tanks I enjoy which is pretty much anything with decent penetration and a turret as I just don't enjoy the TDs with a fixed forward facing gun. Things like repair costs don't bother me as I do well enough that I always make more then what I spend in repairs, and lack of depression can usually be worked around by knowing the terrain layout so I'm rarely bothered by it.

Question: is indirect fire possible in game? Using vehicles with high angle of elevation guns (say Flak 88) could you effectively play as artillery? Probably not an effective way to play but might be a fun challenge!

It is possible but extremely difficult. Experimenting with squadmates, we have been able to occasionally use large cannons (155mm and up) to indirectly fire on chokepoints and popular areas. It's extremely difficult and requires great coordination with your team (you need spotters) but technically doable.

@@bluntcabbage6042 I've done some long range HE shooting with low velocity guns (early Pz 4's mainly) from behind cover to great effect in lower tiers. Certain maps have noob trap cover locations and the spawn (Berlin is great example), I just randomly lob done HE into them and frequently get hits. But I wonder if the game mechanics have a time out on shell flight, or an altitude limit where they are lost. Next time I'm in an SPAA I may try shooting a burst of shells straight up and see if they come back down on top of myself.

More often than not I find that having a tall enough tank to go hull down behind rocks or dead players effects my tank choice more than depression. If I can't meet that requirement then I look for turret rotation speed.

A good depression is a good tactic in Long range maps whit little hills, like dunas in the desert and stuff, and if we talk about my important tactic, is have lots of armor, Im so good angling the tank, so I don't worry about the shape of the tank, the one I use for it is the German KV1

I have a suggestion for you that might give people (especially for console (PS4 Xbox ect)) a better experience. My main suggestion is that you could add a level editor so that people could make their own maps. I'm talking about making terrain, adding buildings, and adding hostile such as AAA and other anti aircraft weapons. Also, you can add bots, and edit them. You can select their vehicles, and how "Experienced" they are. Plus you could get rewarded by giving the player 1 holden eagle or 100 research points. This would mean a lot to me if you responded or actually implemented this into this super amazing game that you very much care about.
