English do not use explosive fillers so that the enemy has a chance to leave the tank. And reverse is not implemented because tankers will most likely put it to use, influenced by their french allies. The british tech tree is a brave gentleman's set of weapons.

Theres explicit differences in the game in terms of spawn points, spotting mechanics, airspawn cost reduction etc that differ between them. British mediums are relatively "slow" compared to other nations (outside the cromwell) a lot of the time, brits need light tanks to fill the gaps on speed, spotting, etc.

I really enjoyed this video, but I'm disappointed by the lack of the A39 Tortoise. Sure, it's classed as a tank destroyer in game, but it was a breakthrough tank by design, and it's a lot heavier than all of the tanks listed in the video.

Problem is that it has extremely limited mobility (especially in realistic), high repair costs, slow reload times, and is basically dead in the water if it gets tracked (which is constantly because when they can’t pen the front, they go for the tracks). When they can pen the front, it’s just a waiting game of how long it takes them to kill your entire crew.

@@anormalplayer6638 @gavgnome The Tortoise isn't everyone's cup of tea, (no pun intended) but I love it- If you get downtiered against Panthers and Tigers, they can't scratch you, and it's the only tank at 6.7 that is almost immune to the PaK 43 on the Tiger II. It is really annoying when you go up against HEAT-FS shells from Leopards, M48s and T-54 derivatives, but other tanks will likely die instantly whilst the Tortoise just loses some of its crew and still has a chance to fight back. It's mobility is something I don't have too much of a problem with- I played a lot of the Churchills and the Tortoise actually has better mobility, and an actual reverse gear. The repair cost is far from ideal, but compared to other British 6.7s like the Caernarvon with a 20K repair cost, it's a bargain.

Yo, you can get the round out, you can open any breech once it’s closed you have to be able to! How you supposed to get a misfired round out!? But with that being said, with my experience on tanks specifically challenger 2 it’s an awkward and lengthy job to take out the round and replace it, especially with 2 piece ammo with projectile and charge, so yeah you’re both right, but both wrong 😂 you can get the round out, but you wouldn’t want to unless you REALLY had to, just much easier to fire it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Other than mobility... Black prince has much, much better armour, as well as a better gun. It was on steam for a while to buy too, got it on sale a couple years ago for £12, easily my favourite vehicle in the game

The Tortoise is actually an assault gun it's called Super Heavy Tank because of its weight it's designed pretty much like the T28/T95 which was also an assault gun which is also designated as Super-Heavy Tank because it was the heaviest American tracked vehicle of its time

One day I will figure out why: 1)wasn't Matilda upgunned like Valentine if it shared turret ring with Churchill; 2)who the hell asked Churchill to be designed with 2 pounder instead of 25 pounder? Or instead of naval 75mm that was later used in Gun Carriers. Would have gotten a proper gun from the start as well as had space to equip 17 pounder in 1944 without all Black Prince failures.

1) The Matilda's two bus engines were already heavily over-taxed with the weight of all the armour it had to carry, replacing the gun would mean having to redesign a turret to house the increased size of the gun aswell as stowage spaces for ammo, leading to either a reduced ammo load or a turret with vastly reduced armour.

Well, my favorite tanks over all are the Churchills, however, the way you were talking about the Mk VII made it seem like that 75mm gun is an upgrade to the 6 pounder, it's not, the 6 pounder is vastly superior, the Mk VII should really be given it's flamethrower though. @@boommeletop5443 it's never in a downteir though, I spent my entire time spading mine fighting (almost) nothing but tigers and panthers, and no I don't want it placed at 2.3, I want it to be given a shell capable of penetrating a tiger outside of the 10m mark. What I was saying was that the gun is no good at 4.7, it was only passable back at 2.3, and even then there were better guns to have. Having the flamethrower would just be a nice historical touch, as that's what the Mk VII was for, the larger gun was for cracking bunkers, and the flamethrower cleared it.

As both a British and German main I love a good heavy tank. While I love my Tiger E and Tiger II Sla.16. The British heavies have to be my favorite. Especially the Churchill Mk. III (Both British and German Versions) and the Caernarvon. I can always guarantee that I'll have a good time when I play either of those.

Gaijin... did you forget about the Tank, Infantry, Mk III, Valentine I, the Valentine IX, and the Valentine XI? I also would like to mention it went from the A.45 to the FV201 (FV200 series) tank prior to leading onto the FV221, the A.45 is a WWII era design. That and the Chieftain didn't mark the end of the Heavy tanks but instead ATGM's did, as it negated their armour considerably as well as the firepower they brought, the FV215 being the next step in the evolution of the heavies after the Conqueror, but the 183mm cannon it was to be equipped with was considered over kill compared to an ATGM that can do the same job on a truck.

Slight historical error the FV.221 Carnarvon was not an A.45 hull with a cent Mk 3 turret but an FV.241 hull with cent Mk 3 turret. Y’all forgot the best tank the brits can get at 6.7. The FV4202 is nigh impenetrable head on turret wise at its rating, with a high degree of gun depression made to peek over hills along with a stabilizer to allow for quick pop up shots over said hills and is quite fast too. Lastly, it’s APDS round can pen ANY vehicle at or around its rating like a hot knife through butter and the HESH is highly effective even against heavy armor. Played right it can annihilate the enemy team and bounce every shot at it. If I see an enemy one, I’m sure to approach very cautiously, if at all.

Churchill 1 - surprisingly effective, Churchill 3 - even better but no real backups for it Churchill 7 - pointless. It needs to go down a tier.

Recently got the Black Prince, half the time most of the others are dead when I show up to the fighting, but it's still fun to see how the others are trying to figure out where to pen me and I can just shoot them nearly anywhere with that APDS on the 17pdr.

I kind of sad that they didn't say that they didn't mention Matilda tank was one of the only tanks to serve and all three theatres of war, being used extensively by the Australians in the Pacific against the Japanese and is also with the only British tank to serve from 1939 to 1945

I want to like the conqueror, but I keep getting uptiered 8.7 battles where I'm too slow in both speed and reload rate to be competitive with things like the Leopard a1a1 and the tech tree t-55. Meanwhile, the main thing about it (it's armour and gun) is basically irrelevant when facing APFSDS rounds like the DM23 which can go through the ufp like it's nothing. Even with the armour protection package installed, it does nothing against I-TOWs from the Begleitpanzer 57, 3M7 Drakons from the IT-1 or any ATGMs for that matter. And it's gun which has on paper good penetration rates with it's APDS round not only reloads too slowly to be competitive at 8.7, but the round itself at 8.7 is just average, but combined with the slow reload makes it effectively subpar. There are many situations where I've been uptiered to 8.7 and faced nothing but teams of 8.7 vehicles like which have every advantage over me and I get killed without having a chance to fire back. I'm not saying it's a bad tank, at 7.7 battles I can be decently competitive and I've had battles with 5-6 kills when not uptiered as I face things like the T-54, IS-3 and IS-4 and original leopard 1 where my armour actually means something. But it's in an uptiered situation like uptiers to 8.7 battles where the tank struggles against tanks which are not only more mobile, but also have weapon systems that the conqueror simply can't compete against. I just don't understand why uptiers are a thing, it should be common sense that 8.7 vehicles particularly the premiums in that br range should not face vehicles which can't compete against them efficiently.

I've never really used the heavy tanks for the British, I just use the crusader mk3 and the saint along with a comet, Cromwell 1, a centurion mk 7 along with any plane and do pretty well. Mostly with the crusaders

I love my brits especially Churchills ,i wish TOG was availiable and some other types of Brit vehicles but the thing that i despise is the uptiering which makes them perfect useless and one shotted.

For me it’s all about the Chieftain. Though I have to disagree with identifying them as an MBT. They just don’t have the flexibility that so commonly defines MBTs. I think that Chieftain and the M103 are the last NATO heavy tanks.

@Manuel - I sort of get your point. I just don’t see how Chieftain matches up with any part of NATO’s “standard” doctrinal definition of an MBT. It’s got very poor mobility as a result of exceptionally heavy turret armor and stupidly weak engine. The UK had designed it to slug it out at very long ranges with its huge 120 mm rifle. Preferably engaging the enemy from prepared defensive positions enhancing the advantage of that turret armor. However the poor mobility (speed) leads to it being forced to pull back from those positions much earlier than other contemporary NATO tanks. This was to avoid, at any cost, being caught in the open. Because the weak hull combined with poor mobility make it very vulnerable in any close quarters or open field combat. Honestly? IMO, Chieftain is starting to look more and more like a TD than an MBT. 🤔
