At first I thought you were exaggerating but then I watched the entire video and realized this is exactly how I feel...I've struggled for so long and never knew what brush to use even. I have followed two pieces of advice from this video - don’t continue to blow out a section of hair once it is dry, and don’t use products which claim to combine several functions - and already my frazzled damaged hair is starting to look better. Thank you so much, neither of these things had ever occurred to me before!

I’m a newbie to your methods, and I don’t know how I got to be 54 years old without knowing this…and I applaud you for teaching all of us!!! I would think that hairstylists would want clients to KNOW these things to optimize results. It’s not replacing the stylist at all, it’s about having healthier hair for the stylist to work with. THANK YOU!!!

It's just nice to hear I'm not crazy for not knowing how to do all this hair stuff. I have been so insecure for almost a decade just thinking I can't be salon beautiful all the time. Truly so thankful I came across your videos. I have always thought I'm just screwed when i have to do my hair at home. It comes home beautiful from the salon but after the first wash, it's never the same... But thanks to tour guidance i have made choices to try new simple techniques (like trying a blow dry brush for beginners) , followed rules and tips, and even though i am not a pro at all yet, my hair turned out decent (like a salon) and has stayed nice for the past 3-4 days for other styles just as you have suggested. Thank you for giving us who don't know hair, knowledge and hope that we can be sexy beautiful too.❤

I have that Kenra spray! I have curly hair and usually wear it curly. I bought that a long time ago.... crunchy curls. Didn't toss it. Glad I didn't. Thank you for showing me how to use it. I struggle with when I straighten my hair from it getting all gross by day 2. So many stylist and curly hair specialist seem to promote more products and gobs of it. I noticed using a tiny amount of curl cream my curls actually came out more spiral instead of waves with some random loose curls... and ONLY using leave in conditioner, curl cream and oil ONLY on the ends... I didn't realize my hair was actually pretty. 😳

The products you recommend are amazing and really make a difference ( 👍redken big blow) . I used to wash my hair every other day and was never happy with how it looked. Now I wash and blow dry it following your recommendations and it looks great, stays silky and shiny for a the whole week. I do have long hair and a lot of it. Thank you for this. I hate when stylists tell me to just buy things that claim xyz. This stuff isn't regulated and they can claim anything. I have found good blow dry creams but struggle with protectants for flat ironing. I will try the Kenra. I'm also very skeptical about the amounts needed. I know with sunscreen, the SPF tests are so subjective and we tend to need to apply a lot more sunscreen than folks typically apply. I can imagine that heat protectants are similar and you probably need a lot more to get the claimed effect.

I’m a pro HD, if this helps pls follow. Detox or wash your hair w Redken cleansing cream, followed w your regular shampoo, + conditioner or hair mask if it feels too raw / dried out. Then out of the shower you will apply your hair leave in product. The leave in is as equal as that cream you use in your body after shower. Protection !

I just love you. I’m a black woman with European ancestry. What you teach make sense for people like me too thank you. Up until today my wash day routine was to wash, put leave in conditioner and braid. I would let my hair air dry. Today I decided to sit under the dryer for a hour on low heat because air drying takes too long. 1am my hair is still damp. Today after I dryed my hair it’s still slightly damp. Do I need a heat protector? Yes I know that I need to get some rinse out conditioner too. It’s on my list. Thank for listening.

Another question: my stylist mentioned to me that no matter what high-end brand of heat protectant he used (e.g. Balmain, Davines, etc.), it would always dry out clients’ hair with continuous use. His clients reported the same as they used these products at home. That’s why he switched to only using a few leave-in conditioners that have heat protection in them. Curious if anyone had a similar experience, and if Chris could comment on it. Thanks 🙏

Happy to dispell this myth. Not all hairdressers are created equal and more than I care to admit, many of them speak from self contrived knowledge instead of an acquired knowledge from a reputable form of education. The bad part is that most clients know very little in comparison to their stylist about their hair so they trust everything they tell them; as well you should be able to trust the person caring for your hair. Nevertheless, for many reasons, people are comfortable with the just having knowledge they received from hair school and or that they receive from a ,self serving, product manufacturer that teaches them just enough to make them arrogant and slaves to their product but not truly what they need to know to make them competent. So they don’t seek continuing education get the science and the why of their craft to fuel and maintain them throughout their career. As technological advances continue to widen our understanding we have to keep a learning attitude so that we can continue to grow. That reigns true for life and for every industry under the sun.

I have yet to find a stylist that doesn’t try to ruin my hair. The number of people that put a flat iron on my very fine, bone straight hair while it is dry, adding nothing to it (and another did it after he bleached it 😤) is ridiculous. I get compliments when I use your blow dry cream recommendation (when I actually blow dry it) even though I don’t notice a difference yet.

I did learn a few things from the video and appreciate you teaching us via these videos. I am 61 and still learning. One thing I have tried to do in the past but have not been successful with is using products in my hair. Now, I use the heat protectant before blow drying, using curlers, flat ironing, curling iron, etc. I do use a good shampoo and conditioner and I do finish the styling process with a good reputable argon oil. I find this works for me. I had no clue on how to style my hair when I was a teenager. I had to figure it out on my own as we did not have computers and iPhones with unlimited access to the internet. I even taught myself how to style my mother's hair as she was not that mother who could do her own hair, let alone her daughters. But, she was a great mom. Bless her heart, by the time I came along she already had four sons. She was tired! LOL. I am very appreciative of the videos we now have access to.

So much good information in here. I do have some questions. What is the difference between blow dry cream and blow dry spray? I have a number of blow dry sprays and I’ve never even seen a blow dry cream. I use a smoothing balm on my hair before I blow dry it but after I use my blow dryer heat protectant spray. I think I’m doing that wrong. So, as I understand from watching several of your videos, it goes like this, after washing and conditioning: first, put in leaving conditioner, then put in your blow dry cream or spray. If you use a flat iron, say the next day, do you reapply heat protectant spray?

I have been using the Redken 22 you recommended. It absolutely holds my style for days. In that regard, 10 out of 10! However, my hair doesn’t feel nearly as good as it looks. It feels stiff and dry. Do you think I’m using the product incorrectly?

Hi! I just discovered you and love your channel. I've already watched four of your videos in a row and have learned a lot. I do have a question for you: If I do both, blow drying and afterwards the flat iron (trust me, I need to do both to have decent looking hair), when should I apply the heat protectant? Is it before blow drying, before the flat iron, or both? Thank you in advance for your reply.
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane Жыл бұрын
They're both heat protectants. The Redkin Big Blowout is for blow drying, which isn't as hot, and the Redkin Hotsets 22 is for use when using any kind of curling iron, flat iron, hot rollers, etc. because they get a LOT hotter. So if you do both things, use both products... the Big Blowout before drying, and the Hotsets before hot irons.

Hello Chris, amazing channel you have here! Discovered you 3 days ago, and already had fantastic results with your Trinity routine. My question is, what heat protection should I use before curling my (thin) hair with hot curlers? Blow-out cream or thermal spray (for the hot iron)? Thank you for your content! You saved my hair!
@martinaprivitera6276

For a blow-out the Blow-out cream and if you need to use irons the thermal spray. If you need to blow-out+ curl your hair at the same time you can apply the blow-out cream, get your blow-out done then apply the thermal spray and get your curls with the iron done ! I hope I helped.

@@martinaprivitera6276 ciao Martina!

Is it necessary to use a blow dry spray and thermal styling spray? Or is one enough, if so which one? For example, Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray and the Kenra Thermal Styling Spray 19.

I know it's a year later, but I remember wondering this last year when I saw this and again now. They have different "thermal" sprays and I have no idea if one is better than the other 🤷‍♂ Although according to the video, the blow dry spray should probably be used like the blow dry creams he talked about - when you're blow drying your hair. And the thermal sprays would be for hot tools like irons.

Hi Chris. I love your videos!! I'm on a wedding hair journey. I'm getting married next year and I'm trying to get my fine, frizzy hair into the best condition. My question is should I use a seperate heat protection sprays for hairdrying and flat ironing? Or will Redken hot sets work for both? Also, should I spray heat protection spray on hair once before drying and styling if styling all in one go? Thanks in advance!

I come to you a few months on what to do with my hair as I had bleached it blonde. My hair is totally transformed itself after a few months of using professional shampoo and applying olaplex. I had no idea about the haircare industrial complex however! I had been using redken 25 in 1 as a heat protectant and leave in conditioner! I’ve now learnt from that however I wanted to ask: Is there any cheaper alternatives for stuff such as blowdry creams, hair oils or leave in conditioners? Whilst i totally understand the heat protection for flat irons I do not want to be spending lots of money on all of those products if there is a cheaper option out there (even if the results aren’t as good.) For context I have coarse hair! I go about 5 days inbetween washes.

Hey that's awesome! I try to make all my routines as cheap as possible and with the least amount of product. It can seem expensive at first but since many products like the hair oil will last you 6+ months it's pretty cheap over time. If it's an issue I would just buy 1 product at a time 👍

Hi Chris, great video, thank you so much. I followed your guidance, bought some of the recommended products and I can already feel the difference. I’m struggling with the heat protection spray and the dry shampoo though - the ones you recommend are not available in UK at the moment. A friend advised me to use Olaplex N. 9, but I don’t really think it’s good for that. Do you have anything else you could recommend as heat protection and dry shampoo for medium hair?

@@hairdiaries5596 do you have hard water? I’ve read that some people have had that reaction if their water is hard. I have hard water so I shampoo my hair to get the minerals from the hard water out, then use no.3, then shampoo again and condition. It works so much better - the first time I used no 3 without shampooing first and the ends of my bangs snapped a tiny bit - they were very heat damaged. Now I shampoo first and Olaplex has become a miracle product for me.
