Best Heavy Scorpion? | Age of Empires 2

Let's find out who has the best Heavy scorpion. I picked 4 civs, the Celts with twentyfive percent faster fire, twenty percent faster creation time and plus forty percent more hit points. Next we have the Kmai with plus 1 range and their unit tech that porvides one extra projectile. the Romans because of their sixty percent lower cost gold, the thirtythree percent faster fire and their benefit after researching ballistics. The Chinese with the huge plus 4 attack from their unit tech, although the lack siege engineers.
Civs like Dravidians, Slavs, Teutons, Bulgarians, Ethiopians and Mongols are left out because their bonuses are not as impactful or are situational, like the Mongol's unique tech with fifty percent faster movement on siege units, it is an awesome bonus but in these tests does not make a difference.
What are you thoughts on them?

For me Romans are clearly the best for scorpions. Both Ballistics and the discount are incredibly strong bonuses that can really impact the game.

For me range is the king here also romans and celts are very close together behind , after are the others……Chinese is ok but lack of range is huge for scorpion, romans also have minimum range 1 which is huge

Shoul have also a cost-effectivness confrontation, and accuracy situations, there romans win. Pity that scorpions and skirmishers has only 2 tiers and not 3.

I would be interested to see hypothetical tier 3 scorpions and skirms. But with skirms we get imperials too

Ethiopian bonus not impactful? Ethiopian Scorpion have the highest damage output from all.

No they don't. And there is no possible way to test in a scenario the 0.3 extra blast radius. Units must be ultra stacked to work. It's a very good bonus but not easy to demonstrate.

I would argue the Slav bonus is relevant for the match up. Instead of equal numbers of units, you'd go with equal resources spent. Numbers advantage often snowballs in AoE. This would have also let the Roman's 60% less gold actually factor into these tests as well. Edit: actually I see you did this for the Romans.

Small tip you can turn on the option to show unts hp that makes it easier check out the options menu nice little useful detail when making such informational videos.

What role does scorpion even fill ?, never had a reason to use them and even in campaign i either just delete them or use them as cannon fodders, atleast rams and mangonels have specific uses

One scorpion vs others is not a good test. Scorpions are meant to be used en mass. And Romans will always win the massed game.
