I wish I could be there to see the reaction of aliens as they discover these HFY stories in the remains of our planet after we go extinct. "These humans sure were confident in their abilities."

Oh we actually have some amazing abilities dude, believe me, and we already devised FTL drives 30 years ago, its just that we re on the wrong path and dragging behind so much useless crap from our past.

Seen this story before told by other KZbinrs, and I'll say it's a good one. Although not explicitly said in the story, humanity clearly has vastly superior manufacturing tech to any of the aliens given that they can do things like 3D print entire cities and shit out a war fleet's with all new tech capable of challenging the supreme military power in the galaxy in a year's time. If the Terran Union had been given another year, they likely would have drowned the hostile aliens in sheer number of hulls and would have had no need to commandeer their dreadnoughts.

Although from the initial probe scans, it seems like this is Earth now. Taking in 7 billion refugees and doing all that stuff indicates at least a much more cohesive world government. Just a little fantastic on the time side. Maybe 10 years instead of 1 might be a bit more realistic to integrate all this alien tech and get organised.

I'm wondering how you can have a "failed launch into space!" But actually be in orbit!!!

Everyone forgets that Special Forces' real job is to convert ragtag militia into an effective fighting force. Once I heard that the marines had landed aboard the ships, and that the ships were still there, I knew the aliens had lost.

Truth is, this story is going well, but it's kinda unrealistic, let's be honest, in reality, we'd spend something around 50 figuring out that those aliens are just like us. And in the meantime in 10 years to learn their tech.

not at all, during WW2 multiple technologies of the Germans were captured and reverse engineered by the allies within months, and both sides did it: everything from Bazookas to fighter craft
