Plot twist: it was humanity that was the threat they had to leave for. That it turned out the humans, despite everything, were becoming the slave races new master, and that the power was corrupting them. So in order to truly save everyone, humanity had to abandon everything.

i get the part that the humans may have left so that these races could grow up without parental supervision, but why would human colony planets be abandoned and why would earth be off limits to everyone. That is the wrong way to do it - you have to replace the slavers and give the slaves more and more freedom over generations, make them independent, let them make their own errors, make them to want to live on their own... You can't force people to want to be free and independent in a few decades. They have to want to be free on their own.
