Anything is a tool in the right hands, And any tool a weapon when needed. Tis better to be a warrior in a garden, Than it is to be a gardener in a war.

I don’t know, man; I’d rather have a few rail/coil guns and not need them, than need them and not have them. Because there’s something to be said about throwing magnetic rocks at my enemies, at a significant fraction of C.

A sword, a knife, a gun... These are merely tools with specific purposes. A mining drill, a laser impeller, a cargo driver. These are tools that can become a sword, a knife, a gun. Under the right circumstances.

the number of toothbrushes used in prison stabbings is testament to that anything can be used as a weapon if you are desperate enough

It should be noted, that only the sword is a weapon made to be a weapon. the spear, bow, and gun, all can be used as a hunting tool. axes for lumber, hammers for crafting. But the sword, is made for war and only war. This, means that humans have created a tool to fight with, but quickly found that their tools are better suited for war.

The list of tools built exclusively for war is short, however they are extremely effective at it.

I beg to differ-land mines are pretty single-purpose. I almost added artillery to the list, then I remembered that some places use WWII howitzers to trigger avalanches before skiiers can.

@@Jszar if you boil "landmines" down to the most basic, it's just an explosion... and well, our world runs on small explosions... everything from cars and ships/boats to airplanes and rockets use explosions as propulsion... anything that uses a combustion engine uses explosion...

I wanna get a sword just to use it as a big knife to put butter and Nutella on my bread, or cut bread/meat, Also due to the length it can be used to make big skewers.

Kult of Athena is a good place to buy swords, check out the sword buyers guide if you need help picking one out. If its just for peanut butter, I’d suggest a stainless steel knife. You can find them around shortsword length and the stainless steel makes it easier to clean. Just don’t buy anything over 12-14 inches or so in stainless steel. If you use a reputable site like kultofAthena they will label the blades as battle ready or not. Its not a perfect system but will help newbies not get a hallhanger swordlike object.

I have done some nasty things to people with just a fork. (Spoons not so much.) Also, an ink pen can stop a fight too. Believe it or not, a butter knife can spread more than just butter. Box cutters are useful. Bricks. (I prefer Acme bricks. Very well-made bricks.) On the opposite side of things: I've been stabbed with an ice pick twice. Taken a baseball bat to the skull. (Talked with a lisp for a week.) Had my arm sliced open with a shard of glass. Things I tried once but never again: Swinging a Master lock on the end of a chain. Hit myself in the nards. Wizzing on a fence in the dark only to learn quickly that it's electrified.

I ended up in the ER once because of a butter knife. That was a defeinite Learning Experience that also entertained the people on duty. I had one stitch put into a finger becuase the wound was unreasonably long and unreasonably deep. My own, stupid, fault. Haven't made that mistake again. Pressure cuts are worse that sharp slices becuse of the damage done to surrounding tissue. Soft tissue damage, and trying to heal "hard tissue" turned into soft tissue is awful to recover from. Box cutters and multi-tools are great for always having a sharp or pointy thing ready if you need one. I get more respect from the local critters when I have my "Goose Herding Stick" (a retired bo). Even feral dogs understand a log stick and what a monkey can do with it. I have never had a problem with anyone when I'm doing chores with The Stick nearby.

@@goldengryphon Sticks are always nice. Animals understand what they are and will keep distance from you. As for two legged animals, a stick and a toothy smile like you've been waiting to try the stick out is effective too.

Used correctly a spoon is a brutal weapon. It normally involves eyes, or other sensitive areas...
