The Svalbard Global Seed Vault? I've heard of that place. Glad to see it did its job.

The fact that the federation immediately wants to revive humanity means they are probably noble in intentions (although the best intentions paved the road to hell) I believe they are probably going to be on the level of Star Trek.

Damn, love that seed vault. Hopefully it is never needed. But it is something that gives me hope. As well as the history I know about people giving it all the ensure the preservation of our biological history. I vaguely remember a story where a trio of men willingly starved to death to converse the seed grain apart of some experiment(s) I think? I don’t remember the surrounding context on how it came to be

Yes I know of that story: It happened in Russia during the mass starvation of Stalin's rule. They were trying to breed a better crop of rice(?) that would grow in Russia. They kept the seeds safe from a crackpot pseudoscientist called Trofim Lysenko. I'd love to put a link of him here but every time I try that I get blocked so you'll have to google it yourself. Try youtube and search for "The Man Who Killed Millions Trying to Grow Food in the Snow." However the story you're thinking about I remember from the second Cosmos series.

I thought for a moment that the story you cited might have been the basis for 'Silent Running', but discovered that Silent Running was from an original script by Douglas Trumbull (of 2001: A Space Odyssey fame). They sound similar.

Did you, by any chance, watch the Cosmos series in 2014? I remember that story being a part of an episode on Soviet science.

Aliens will never learn to not revive the humans. The last 100+ times I witnessed it, it did not turn out well for the aliens.

- "Ordovic", said the reasearch assistant, also a member of the Lupine species, "Plant Specimen 745 - a large plant called "Pine Tree" - has reached 75% of its mature size and most lab employees seem to feel the irresistible urge to go to the bathr... Sir ? SIR ?" - "Sorry", said Ordovic, lowering his hind leg. "I spaced out for a moment. What is it ?"

We can make a longer story with this. Cloned humans + uploaded memory data that can be injected to the clones.
