Hello everyone, fyi, this video has subtitles. You can go to setting and choose your preferred language for caption. Btw, for stronger clay, I have added few pieces of toilet paper when kneading the clay. It will strengthen the clay, absorb extra liquid, best for sculpting. The clay will dry super hard, no cracks and take the details better. You will have super homemade clay above the best😁. Don't forget to read the update at my website: www.clay-it-now.com/besthomemadeclay.html You can see the video on how I add the tissue paper at kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6aTlqmIl52FZrM

Hi guys, another tip: put the 1tbsp of oil in the 1/2 cup first let it get oalong the sides of the cup then pour into the flour. Next put the glue in that same cup and pour on your flour and oil mixture. The glue wil slide directly to the flour since you coat it with the oil first.

First of all, im a fan of ur channel and i totally appreciate how u take the time out to respond to most of your comments, as i see many who do not, thus people have questions that never get answered... it shows you appreciate your viewers. I made this recipe once and i do live in ky so i had to add more flour but it turned out nicely. Last night i decided to make it again, but i decided i wanted something that will get even harder. I tweaked ur recipe just a tad. I added half tube of caulk i got for a dollar at dollar tree. I tested it by making a few flowers and it turned out incredible! Obviously if you want something that's one hundred percent non toxic i don't recommend adding the caulk as idk what it would do ingested but the strength is incredible! Thanks for this recipe ive tried several ones i like yours the best! Oh i also sprinkled alum to help double down on keeping it from going bad during storage

I'm so grateful for this recipe and all the time you're putting into answering eveyone's questions! I have made small objects with this clay, and I'm noticing that after a week or so, there's some discoloration appearing on the surface, whether it's been mixed with acrylic paint or not. It looks like small whiteish circles all over the dried pieces. Have you ever had a similar experience? I'm trying to figure out what causes it!

Just a comment on measuring flour, and probably the corn starch as well. Because flour is so fluffy, no matter how carefully you try to measure a cup of flour, each cup will have a different amount of flour to air. To get a consistent amount of flour, be sure to weigh it instead. 50 grams of flour will always contain the same amount of flour, whereas two separate cups of flour can contain up to 50% more or less flour.

I am so in love with this recipe. When I started I got really nervous because my consistency was really wet. So I paused and read through more of the reviews. What I found from some Q&A’s.... I added squares of toilet paper (7-9 squares - soak up the moisture and gives it that extra uhump) and I ended up adding more lotion and more cornstarch. The reason I added more was because on one comment you said not to add all the water if you don’t need it. But I never saw that until later and I added it all. Mistake for me because I almost had chunky soup lol. But with your replies and viewers questions I saved my clay and now know how to fix it. VIEWERS if you get discouraged because you think it’s taking to long to form it it too wet don’t get upset. Have patience. It will work out if you just give it time. None of this would of been possible without your brilliance. Yes there are a ton of other tutorials and I’m sure they are just as good. But you’re my Guru. I’ll always come to you! You’re the best and thank you again!

For me, I live by the ocean, and in a city with LOTS of mosquitoes in my area, and the weather is *literally* backwards! (Hot in winter, freezing in summer) and black mold and “people fungus” aka “homeless must/grime” is abundant in the pavement outside... none of my work has molded except for one forgotten, re-soaking, in the bathroom! Wash your hands with whatever you’d use to hand wash dishes (soap or detergent) taking extra care around your wrists, between your finger curves, and under your nails! Doing this will strip the outer layer of oils and skin-stuff that fungi and bacteria live on. Do not rly your hands! Wash your tools and containers with the same, and rinse as best you can, as hot as you can, and prop up to dry in a clean, ventilated, dirt free area. (Probably in the sun, depending on what is spoiling your things) IMMEDIATELY use the moisturizer from your recipe on your hands and wrists, use a little more than you need for just your hands to feel wet, but not so much they *look* wet or you can see streaks of the cream. Pat of the extra, wherever you need it, **don’t** *wipe* it off!!! Measure your ingredients into the bowl, as she did, but I add the glue after rubbing the cup with oil. (If I remember right the order was dry stuff, then oil, moisturizer, vinegar, water. That’s the cleanest method, because the oil makes the moisturizer slip off, the vinegar’s acidity cuts through the oil, and the water can be used to rinse the spoon.) this also removes the need to rinse, since water is so abundant and evaporates quickly around you. **Now** as you get ready to kneed, very quick rinse your hands and wipe them off, this time. Don’t soap them. Just rewetting the layer of moisturizer on your hand to remove whatever has stuck on your skin. Another tip I have is to use a container or bow that is tall and narrow, instead of wide and flat. This is to reduce the airflow and air traffic of germs in the bowl. And try not to breath directly into it. It’s like our breath is a gust of wind for germs and spores. My last piece of advice is to kneed *in* the container, or holding it. But not on a counter or table top. If you have to use a surface because you’re making the full recipe and it’s just better for you, lay down some plastic/cling wrap, if you can afford to, but just before you kneed, not before then. (I can’t really afford to, since more would be wasted unused before I even turned around! Lol, so I try cutting recipes down to 1/4 or smaller to test them, first.) Let me know if any of this helps, please!

I just made this recipe and I am really happy with the end result! There was a minor hiccup that had my husband thinking I'd just made a HUGE mess instead of clay. When I had added all the ingredients and picked up the clay to start kneading it, much like the experience Simon Jensen had, it was far too wet. My hands were coated in wet, sticky muck. I had the hubs add 1/3 cup flour to the mound on my hands and worked that in....still too wet, I had him add another 1/3 cup and it tightened up nicely. I wasn't able to incorporate all of the last 1/3 cup--I used maybe half of it. Once the consistency was right it was a lot of fun to knead! Once it is thoroughly kneaded the clay is wonderful!! Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I look forward to making this clay and exploring lots of clay creations far into the future.

I make your original 'Best Homemade Clay' but I add about 8 squares of toilet paper 3ply separated. I add it during the kneading process 1 square 1ply (24 squares in total of 1 ply) at a time, always adding to the top of the clay, and melding it in by bending the clay backwards to ensure it mixes in properly.. (like bending a book inside out, if that makes sense).. The resulting clay is strong and easy to work with.. Does take a bit of kneading.. but its a good workout.

Very nice video! Being a cook, I carefully measured everything but came out with a very soft "dough" ... well actually maybe something more like pancake batter. LOL! But I kept adding flour until it was no longer sticky. That and kneading until it looked like the finished product in the video. I can figure out the purpose of all the ingredients, except for the baking powder. I have made clay in the past using baking soda but baking powder and baking soda are two completely different products... though both are used as leavening agents in baking. I still have to see how this clay will work, especially with the addition of the extra flour. Thanks for the video! :)

Let me give u a little “baker” advice, u really don’t need to knead your clay for 20 or more min. Just do it for 7 or 10 min top, then wrap it on plastic film and let it test. That will allows that your “dough” will rest and get all the “grains” on it get moisturized. After 15 min of resting will do it. Then knead it for 5 min and I can assure you you will have better results. Ah! And never stretch any dough! That’s the easy way of stressing it and make it more “stubborn” , lol!!!

To measure the water, you used a 1/2 Cup measuring cup for volume measuring, but you did not fill it full. It is only "1/2 Cup" when filled to the top edge - as much as it can hold - so you did not actually use 1/2 cup of water unless you poured some of into the mix prior to filming. From what I saw in the video, you actually used about 1/3 cup water not 1/2 cup. Just an FYI: If you want accurate liquid measures, the only way to do so is to use a liquid measuring cup (like a Pyrex liquid measuring cup) and, while measuring, you need to be looking at the liquid at eye level with it - not looking at it from above. To do that usually requires bending down to get at eye level. This is crucial for measurements to be exact. This clay does not appear to need exact measures but other things require it, so I share this in hopes that it helps someone out there. Vaya con Dios

OK. . . I have never done this before, so tried it today. Seems to be OK and holds its shape. Just had a big problem in the beginning. I did clean my cup out with water from the glue and measured it....When I added the 1/2 C of water, I lessened it by the 1 T. My mixture was like lumpy, thick pancake batter. Mine never looked like yours and could not take it out of the bowl with my fingers. At the end when I had added the cornstarch and the other flour, it was still too running. Very sticky no matter what I did. I ended up adding 2 more T. of flour and then another T. of cornstarch. I kneaded it for 45 minutes. It looks like yours and holds it shape, but still may stick to my table. Do you have any ideas of what to do? I do live in the desert in California, so we don't have very much humidity. . . . I don't think that's the problem. Any suggestions will be totally appreciated. Thank you for the video and all the wonderful instructions....You are so talented on everything you do and I love watching your videos. Happy crafting. Take care and God bless. Jeannie😊

I made a little house project in December 2020, using a similar airdry clay, only it had rice flour. It too contained glue and oil i think maybe vinegar, not sure about the rest. Anyway, the project dried really hard and I added a couple or layers of acrylic paint as well as sealed it with 3-4 layers of transparent lacquer. It stayed on a shelf since then only for me to notice it had been eaten by flour bugs. They drilled through it all despite it being hard and painted over. Now, have you had anything similar happen? Because I've used your recipe on another project which I've given away. It will be really awkward if I get it back in a couple of years all drilled through.

Thank you. Try adding few piece of tissue paper on your clay when kneading. Is your clay cracks because it shrink after you wrap plastic pot?

I've got some glutinous rice flour; I'm going to try a little of that if the dough comes out too soft.

daisy3690 I thought the same thing! Frustrating to watch but the info is good to know. For me, it was the way she kneaded the mixture. Yeah, frustrating!

Easier recipe: 1 cup glue, 1 cup cornstarch, 2 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar, 2 tbsp any cooking oil, 1 tsp acrylic color of your choice. Mix together and heat

I used that recipe too in the past. It works great. But I like to experiment with homemade clay and so far happy with my own recipe :)

@@RosieBrownie It produces a more "smoother" (dunno the right word to use) clay. But I find that cooked clay is too heavy for my taste.
