Best Japanese maples - Amazing Maples & Crazy Conifers

Here is a view of about 100 or so different japanese maple trees in their fall color. I do not know about you but I can not pick out my favorite, they all are spectacular.

I leave my ginkgo and maple in a frost free pot out in the winter and they do just lovely in the winter. With a little extra mulch on top to keep them warm.

Those beautiful Maple trees are an incredible sight, such a wonderful display is breathtaking. I have just begun to take an interest in Maples ( Japanese ) I have four now in containers, I find them fascinating, I have never been a fan of deciduous trees before, but these even have attractive bark. I hope to continue to grow and collect as many as my small back garden can take. Thank you for posting.

I have planted a few trees in different colours around a house and after a few years the place looks stunning, you can mix the colours without any order and still looks beautiful.

In my case the trees are strategically placed next to each other to have different colors and different sizes so there is virtually no gaps

Yes, they are beautiful in the Fall, but the time its in that state is only a couple of weeks. I would like to see the same layout on how they look during the Summer, which unfortunately the time is much longer.

@@amazingmaples I live in Roswell, New Mexico a very hot place in the summer with temps of 110 and sometimes we get freezing weather in the winter. Do you know of any maples that can survive in this area? I am also starting with bonsai, Suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Japanese maples in containers takes more care, watering them correctly and adding a proper amount of fertilizer is important.

I have added a small amount of slow release all purpose pellets to mine now I have put them into the pots I hope to grow them in for the next couple of years. If I can get mine looking half as good as some of these I'll be happy

Many of the trees have been planted in the ground and then dug up and placed in containers so i can sell them

As someone who loves Japanese maples (I have about 5 on our 14 acres in the PacNW), your video is my idea of heaven. Question... Do you know what variety are the ones that have the bright green chartreuse leaves with the dark bark?

5 on 14 acres? sounds like you have room for more. There are several with the chartreuse leaves, Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum' is one of the best. Summer Gold is a new one that is very nice for the bright color as is Gold Digger. You are more than welcome to Look me up to get more Japanese maples for your property.

David My collection/inventory since I do sell the trees has reduced over the years. I have found a lot of the cultivars are very pretty during a season but just don't quite look good in a garden setting. Also many cultivars are a duplication of another tree but maybe a slight difference in color or height. One of the best places to get information about japanese maples is on UBC garden forum,

It is a Mikawa yatsubusa - if you watch the video on a PC you will see the trees are labeled in the video.

Just for giggle, I watched it on a PC and Lion Heart shows up but the bottom Yellow leaves (Mikawa Yatsubusa as you said) box shows empty (FYI). However, thanks for the information. You have truly amazing maples and Crazy conifer collection :)
