I love Jester. In Town of Salem the only evils I love playing as are Executioner or Jester. In this game I show you one of my favorite jester tactics. It's not a gimmick, and it's not annoying or bannable. If you want a good jester tactic give this a go!

Excuse me if you watched the game[i was series] i guided both T[Jailor]Princess[Lookout] through the entire game. I made great scumreads however i do admit skimms jester play was excellent, however lucky as i said being a medium, retri, and me revived spy dis credited him. I now look back and should have told T to execute him but i was blinded by having him outed :/ so we hung him instead.

One issue you have skimm is you expect people to be way too cynical with others. That "awful" will you had. Sure, it doesn't really contribute anything and you're right for being suspicious of it, but the vast majority of people won't be inclined. They'll either ignore it, or see it as a sign of someone who might actually be as they are, making sure they at least have a will, even if it's got nothing interesting beyond self-talk. It creates a deeper subconscious human connection and actually serves to cement trust more than degrade it. If you had simply not had a will, and avoided posting it, even after people were dead, that would have gotten you lynched day 3 even if there wasn't another medium.

Never have I seen someone say "how am I supposed to fake claim medium when there's a retri". Maf typically say "how is retri balanced?", or "how can maf win with ret?", not complain about how it makes it difficult to claim.

Amateur Psychologist time! Whoo! Okies, so why CCs have more trust inherently then original claims. If you're making a claim, you're doing so defensively, to calm eyes looking at you. As such, people are going to be suspicious of any act of defense. "Innocent until proven guilty" is a mantra because most people fundamentally, to their nature, believe the opposite, as if others believe such is true, and said others are in a position to take you to court/cause problems to you, the human psyche, being a bit of a herd animal by nature (Not excessively, but we all have tendencies to go with the crowd in certain respects, it's why shared morality beliefs are a thing, otherwise everyone would literally believe 100% in their own direction and some people would believe murder to be completely reasonable and rational without being an excessive minority) as such will tend to herd against anyone they perceive as being defensive. Finally, claiming on your own means you're 'afraid' for your position, which in turn makes you look guilty, even if you're not actually afraid, it makes you LOOK afraid. Meanwhile, counterclaiming has a few psychological impacts and logical impacts that improve its' weight. If you're counterclaiming, you're putting yourself on the line to go against someone else, this in turn means that if you're lying, you're dying, either that night or the next day, which puts a lot less value to ignoring CCs, further, if you counterclaim 'against' someone who's suspicious, you automatically tend to gain the weight in trust they lost from them playing defensive, as you're stepping out to reveal information on them, making you look more confident fundamentally. Additionally, counterclaiming tends to be something good players do, or it's perceived as such, which grants you the trust of expertise, so long as you're not named too acidicly and you're playing relatively professionally. Add in the extra weight that most often bad guys do not seem to counterclaim (It's a rare thing for them to do, for the logical reasons listed above) and counterclaiming tends to smell almost as good as being actually confirmed. In point of fact, in the event of it being a position where the person wouldn't be killed off by a counter claim, I'd highly recommend CCing any townie role that there can comfortably be two of, as I'm pretty sure that, so long as you don't dispute them too much, you'll create this loving distrust of any information they provide and, so long as you provide enough tidbits, you'll be safe for maybe even a bit longer then they are.

I haven't played ToS myself since before it was even on Steam and I remember one time claiming sheriff as jest. Managed to random lynch sk and then mafioso 2 days in a row and everyone thought i was confirmed sheriff after that point lol

I've had a similar experience, on a custom coven game, there were a bunch of town 2 mafia, 2 coven, 1 ga, 1 ne (me) and 1 ww. I got jester, so I decided to fake claim sheriff, point at a random guy d2 and call them out for being mafia... only problem was they were mafioso. So I am the first "confirmed" townie. Bg goes on me n2, cl controls gf into me n2, bg and gf die. D3 begins, I point at another person claiming they are coven, they were pm. Next day bg is resurrected. N4 cl controls ww into me, the very same bg who died for me once again is on me, bg and ww die. At this point it's pretty obvious who the cl is, I decide to reveal that I was a jester the whole time. Cl got lynched because mayor revealed. Bg rages that he died for a jester, TWICE, rest of town thanks me for being the reason all the evils died, either directly or indirectly. One guy also said "Jester MVP"

Had a great set of games the other day. One game was a great invest play: confirmed town d1, confirmed maf d2, confirmed town d3, and confirmed maf d4 for the win. Next game, I use the same username. No jailor reveal d1. I'm Consort. Jailed n1, claimed doc in jail. Jailor asks if I was lookout last game, I say I was invest, and he knows I'm the same person. HE THEN TELLS ME HIS USERNAME, because I was the same player and knew I was good. We have a janitor. Needless to say, we kill and clean him up real quick. We won that game.

I had a game where I was Mafioso. We had a BMer and a Janitor. There was a Retri in the game and the BMer saw someone whisper that they were the Retri. That night, we attacked the Retri and cleaned him. Next day, dead jailor was revived and I confirmed myself as the Retri. Mafia won. Only casualty was the GF towards the end.

I think the reason ccs are more trusted than the person that grt's cc'd, is because the cc is actually more likely to be town the person that get's ccd. Because town will cc evils, but evils will very rarely cc town, often just trying to go unnoticed. So on average to cc is more likely town than the other one.

@@LilJbm1 dude.... Not jailor obviously. But that and maybe TPs are the only roles that a player would think "That's worth my sacrifice" from. A role which in the end will be fully dependent on certain roles' deaths, will be soooooooo boring to play and in many cases rather useless if a TP or Jailor haven't died. The role would in my opinion be predictable (more than it already is), useless and also annoying to play as town would hang a retri claim in a second considering it will also be a claim that evils will make a lot as they can just say "I'm waiting to revive a BG or Jailor" or some shit. People will then be forced to revive someone for their own life and then just be a bored bystander the rest of the game.

The reason that the cc'd person is more suspicious, is because the mafia don't want to cc. The reason that mafia don't want to cc, is because a) when they lynch the cc'd guy, then the mafia gets exed, and b) mafia don't want to draw attention to themselves.

As jest, as soon as someone claims jailed, a second later I come up with a sheriff will that says they are suspicious. This usually gets me hung right away thinking I am exe, unless the town is so dumb they lynch the jailed guy who I could not have possibly checked as sheriff

My favorite gimmick is to claim LO, start whispering to the TP/LO claim, and try to get someone mislynched. I tend to get lynched the next day xD

I think I have a good idea on why people believe the CC claim over the first claim. If the first claim is made under duress ("what's your role?? You're susp!"), a CC looks to reinforce the group mentality that the other guy is evil.

When someone dies, I just go all out saying “Oh I killed him, what have I done,” everyone will start to ask for my role and if they don’t push me up, I just repeat that tactic over again until I die at night or get pushed up and hanged. It works 50% of the time.

Only won once as Jester. I mentioned I was teleported, the tele said your welcome and I said I was in no danger. Immediately I got voted up and convicted 10-1. My last words were lol to easy. As people joined me in the graveyard I mocked them for falling for that.

Once I won as jester cuz a confirmed vet whispered me what my role was and I just refused. He tried several times but I wouldn’t tell him. He told everyone else later so everyone thought I was mafia lol. Because that vet townie ended up convincing every one I was mafia I decided to help towns win. I chose to kill who I though was GF but I killed SK. By then it was only gf mafioso, and one day townie left I think lol so mad won.

Think you should claim something mafia won't bother to kill quickly, médium is like the best town claim, but you have survivor claim (in games with survs, obviously), exe/jest claim. But your town partners need to know you're covering your vet identity and the reason why you're covering it (you can do it in ranked practice).

Wait a sec... If you die you don't get the achivement, right? I think being active in town (preventing being susp) but not too much (mafia/coven would target you) Is the key to the achivement.

One tactic I enjoy is claiming, looking credible, and staying just credible enough until it's you and one other person claiming the same role. Then, "Lynch me, exe them tonight. Confirm my role, and take them out. This way jailor doesn't lose exes." It works every time I get to that point. Problem is w staying credible, and even then I'll usually get lynched being accused of being maf. High win ratio, but definitely not smth that would work in casual imo.

I played Jester last Friday, I started asking for claims first second the 2nd day came and if he didnt respond in 2 seconds I told the town to vote him for lynching cause he wouldnt claim, then they started voting me, vote didnt end the first night, so I insisted they should vote him, they voted me, for defence I said Im vigi and i investigated him (vigi doesnt investigate) so I got lynched

cc means counter claim and NK is neutral killing. Counter claiming is what you do if someone else is claiming the spot that you have and NK is a spot on the role list, which can either be Arsonist, Serial Killer or Werewolf.
