I recently made the trip up to the frozen tundra of Illinois to Nate's Custom Boats and Accessories. I wanted to tour Nate's new shop, meet his employees, and of course build some parts!
I was able to document the build process of all aluminum dry hatches Nate is known for. We made custom parts for some of my upcoming boat builds I will be doing at #brigadeboats.
In this video I will cover the following in order:
-First, I will do a step by step walk thru of the build process of a standard all aluminum dry hatch. All documented at NCB in Illinois.
-Second, I will show you how we fabricated a custom rear transom hatch and front hatch with recessed pedal tray built in.
-Third, we will take things back to Georgia and I will show you the layout of my upcoming personal build, the #topgunportajon , using Nate's hatches. I will cover layout, explain framing, and then go in depth of each particular hatch. A general walk thru of the jon boat build.
-Fourth, I will show you a couple unique hatches for my upcoming customer build as well as the livewell that is going in it. Livewell is also fabricated by NCB.
Of course I will explain in detail throughout the video why I believe the aluminum hatch is the best jon boat mod you can do in 2021.

A 14,000$ Miller MIG welder wstable arc and argon. I'm not a welding expert but that's what I took away from it...

You don't need a spool gun to weld aluminum. The welders we use at my job. They run backwards into a 8 foot lead that's connected to a water cooler.
