Adam Celadin great to see this video. Uncanny timing. I've been helping my nephew log his new property so I can scoop up what the old timers call "lily pads" here in logging country Washington/ Oregon USA. The mascot of our local soccer club is a logger/lumberjack (MLS Champs), The Portland Timbers, saws off a log round for every goal we score. Not my point - I'm always so impressed by how well you use your right hand. It's like skating switch-stance very well

I’m trying to find someone in my area to cut me some tree rounds… would they last longer if I was to protect them if I get some with a clear coat of varnish? Otherwise I’d think they would dry out and chip what’s your thoughts? I so wish I had the money and means for you to train/teach me I’d love to learn from you Adam!

So Adam I have learned so much from you, being almost blind I can’t see/appreciate your videos as I would like. However one thing I learned is don’t buy cheap knifes lol. The first 2 sets I got where junk and bending and not much more then pop can strength lol. And not small so I spent $50 on a 3 set of 10 inch Smith Wessons (SWTK10) and way better starter knife but little big for my comfort and lack of skill. So I just spent $130 on a 6 set of the same knife but 8 inches (SWTK8). So I’m done buying cheaper knifes and I wanna save my Pennie’s to get a decent durable set that can take a beating from a beginner so I was hoping you could recommend something close to the 8 inch set I just got TIA and keep up the great videos cheers!

Not sure if anyone asks or cares but if you are looking for wood type recommendations for longer-life targets I would suggest Cottonwood. It can take repeated hits and the holes close back up nicely and, most importantly I think, it doesn't really rot so you can leave it out in the weather for years without deterioration.

A friend of mine, who sadly died 3 years ago, had a really nice set up, with stumps of wood like this, bolted onto poles in the ground, rasing them up so he could have a net underneathe. He did this to avoid having his knives getting dented as often. This was understandable, when he showed me how much some of knives cost, and he had lots of them. Thinking about it, his collection must have cost him £10,000+ over the years. He also had a small archery range and a half pipe that had seen better days. He didnt even have a house, just a couple if static caravans and some poly tunnels on a plot of land. Edit, I have no idea what happened to all his knives, I don't know if he had family or not, as we never really talked about it. (This is now really bothering me that I never found out.)

@@AdamCeladin Callum, he died suddenly due to a tumour, there was no warning. The brightest candles burn out the fastest. He was only 44, and never had any children, he also never spoke to me of any past lovers. I regret how little I really knew about him, but I was in my mid 20s and often without thought for others. Recent revelations opened a new part of myself. I also regret how we drifted apart before he passed.

Great video, I'm loving learning no spin, but I'm relatively "poor", so I would add that if you have a chainsaw (or in my case an old friend with one), you can find old, free, tree stumps, fallen trees and branches in public forests and beaches and just cut the size/sizes you want, that's how I got my range of log-round targets, they are amazing ::) just be responsible and use dead wood, unless they are on your land, don't cut down other people's living trees please... respect nature and work with it, don't kill it ::) And don't throw on living trees, they tend to die :(
@thothtahuti5509
@thothtahuti5509 2 жыл бұрын
Adam mentions this on a few videos (because he's a world class thrower and a great guy) but mostly on complete beginner ones, but many people I know just started on live tree's and most of the trees died from rot/infection at the "target point" outwards :(

you should start a series called "Will it Stick" and attempt to throw different items to see if they would stick. also this may sound dangerous but you should try to throw a butterfly or balisong knife to see if they are effective. Very cool. I'm sort of lucky in the target department. My dad burns wood for heat in the winter and we cut it for him ourselves so I cut a few rounds while we were out getting firewood. :)

It's like (Norwegian?) Bill and Ted's Backwater Adventure lol Seriously though, get a damn chainsaw and cut a tree! Also you could have used a nail gun for the target, or even a hammer and nails to balance on! Now for actually throwing, whether it's cards, knives or a tomahawk rotation and grip are everything! You should through that it.
