im korean, if you cannot find the korean pears, then pineapple or kiwi works well. the taste difference is subtle adds sweetness and tenderizes. korean pear is ideal for the more authentic flavor. 👍

Kiwi and pineapple are good replacement but if you marinate with them, you can only go for a few hours as they will over tenderize the meat

I've seen some recipes that use persimmons instead, along with a bit of ginger. Maybe that's more Jeju style, I don't know, but it sure does cook up nice.
@-EchoesIntoEternity-5 жыл бұрын
@@CarlGorn i would say finding persimmons might be as difficult/easy as finding korean pears for those outside major areas. Jeju definitely has its own unique style due to their subtropical location.

I stumbled upon your channel by accident, and now it's my favorite food program -- serendipity, baby!!! You guys have created something very special here, on many levels. I live in the U.S. and I have noticed that we as Americans are being conditioned to value ease of preparation, but especially speed of preparation over the quality, the flavor, or the appreciation of delicious food. Honestly, your videos are far better than anything on the Food Network! I have learned more about cooking Michelin quality steaks at home after watching just one of your videos than 40 years of watching other cooking shows! You have taught me the importance of a methodical approach to cooking the perfect steak. By controlling temperature and time with precision, I can finally cook beautiful, delicious, steaks -- consistently -- each and every time! God bless you all, Brian

Thank you so much for kicking up a Korean recipe. Although, I have to say, it's not a truly Korean meal if there's no kimchi at the table. Whether it's made from cabbage, radish, or stuffed lotus root, that spicy-sour pickled vegetable dish is the perfect counterpoint to the rich meaty sweetness of galbi & bulgogi. Keeps the palate fresh and makes everything else taste that much better.

You should try something Danish, like "flæskesteg" (roasted pork). The salty, crispy skin on the roast is amazing if done correctly, and you can even make sandwiches out of it (called "flæskestegssandwich" - they are amazing too). It is a very traditional Danish food to eat around Christmas, but make sure to also make the side dishes (like "brune kartofler" and "rødkål") as they also play a big role. There's also "smørrebrød", but it may be hard to find traditional Danish rye bread outside of Denmark.

Hey Guga! So im mexican and one of my favorite dishes to eat is the VERY traditional dish we call "Salpicon". It's made with deer meat. You have to first season a pot of boiling water with salt, pepper corns, bay leaf, and garlic bulbs cut down the side and boil the deer meat (any cut of the deer is fine like the thighs or the cheeks) until its cooked through (I havent tried sous vide for the deer so feel free to try that by the way). You then take the meat out and leave it to rest for an hour. After you rest it, save the resting juices for later. for assembling the salpicon you must shred the deer meat and transfer to a big or deep tray for adding the rest of ingredients. With the shredded deer you add salt, pepper, sliced black olives, sliced purple onion strands, sliced bell peppers of any colour, chopped cilantro, chopped green onion, a very simple "vinaigrette" of an even ratio of olive oil and white vinegar always totaling 1/4 cup, and the resting juices. Evenly mix together all ingredients and leave it to rest over night. The next day enjoy the delicious salpicon with some toasted tortilla de harina chips baked with a blended mixture of olive oil, chile de arbol, salt, pepper, and chives or ALITTLE cilantro because why not. You will NOT regret making this one Guga. Plz consider this one👌👌👌

short ribs have become my latest new thing ... and i love kahlbi . i have had authentic one time - made by a korean woman who gave us the recipe at a church picnic - no one else even ate it they where more traditional ( wealthy closed minded) white people . that ladys kahlbi was incredible ! then when i made a big deal out of it and spoke with her they all tried it and agreed. love your videos pal , the quality of the video is REALLY stand out exceptional , music is very good too . you should be very proud of your amazing work . your nephew? is VERY lucky . its funny how much we have in common but also different and i am way more of a noob... . but for years i use a AC powered set of really cool (ikea) mini fans that are sturdy , with metal grille but very small 110 volt. i adapted them with longer cables on a footswitch - much like a bbq dragon . i got a set of three my lil bro garbage picked and they have been a life saver for temp regulation in my smoker and lighting charcoal too.
