@straighttalkwithkyle79472 күн бұрын
Sorry Guga but that is not how they would have eaten that food in 1776. a small group of soldiers would have had a cook pot, the hard tack would be likely be made and brough in and the meat would be soaked and rinsed a couple of time because it would have been heavily salted. The meat would be cut up with whatever else they had and stew would be made. The hard tack would likely be broken up and put into the stew as the starch filler. It's too hard just to bite into. That would have been a lot of soldiers with broken teeth.

LOL. Hardtack is not a cracker. It's not supposed to be eaten straight. You're supposed to soften it by soaking it with a liquid. It was usually boiled with water and then you add some meat to it to make a stew. Basically think of it more like salty starch base for a soup rather than a hard cracker/biscuit to be eaten straight.
@straighttalkwithkyle79472 күн бұрын
Yeah, that's not how that first meal would have been eaten at all. The meat would be cubed up and put into a stew pot with whatever other ingredients they had. The hard tack would be broken up and put in towards the end or in individual bowls of the stew.
@elphive422 күн бұрын
Yeah - he ate soap with that meal, I think I’d put their historical accuracy at a minimum lol
@straighttalkwithkyle79472 күн бұрын
@@elphive42 I was just surprised by that take on how they would have eaten that. A very minimum amount of research, like less than ten minutes, and he would have known that all that would have been cooked in a pot together that would have been boiled over a fire.

The original MRE that I was given was something like a Burrito, but a soldier told me that the Spaghetti w/Meat Sauce was a good one, so he ended up giving me his Spaghetti one for my Burrito...and I was amazed at how good the Spaghetti tasted. I ended up eating my MRE cold, but it was still edible and my snack was Skittles. Happy Veterans Day to all those who served, thank you for your service.
