@@MikeHaggarKJ what makes you anti-hype? I don’t buy hypebeast related brands typically, but I’ll wear shoes instead of letting them sit like trophies. Plus, the hype brands and products will get crossover views with revenue from sneakerheads. We could all benefit from the average sneakerhead being more interested in higher end leather opposed to brand names or gimmicks. The Jordan ‘85 is a gimmick. I’ve never owned a pair of Jordan brand kicks in my life. Still, it’s interesting to see how these stack up to other sneakers. $180+ per Jordan Retro is a hefty retail cost compared to every other sneaker brand’s quality at the $200 range. New Balance has ace quality made in the U.S. or U.K. Nike continually cheapens out leather quality-even when SB Dunks used to be a beacon of quality at $65-$90 retail.

I’ve never held the shattered backboard 1.0s in hand but it’s crazy how they still remain the top Jordan 1 when it comes to leather quality. My softest and best feeling Jordan 1 is the Jordan 1 High Bloodline. I wonder how they compare to the SBBs? It would be nice to see those cut up. I am disappointed tbh. I think Nike did a pretty good job to make them look like the 1985 pairs. And I hoped that they tried to get some better leather that's higher quality compared with what they usually use. Many OG heads tell us the 1985 pairs had the best leather. Even better than the SBB 1.0. So it makes me a little bit upset, because I was so hyped that we finally get the "real" OG colourways back with the better shape and better quality. I just hope they still will age well like a 1985 pair.

Those days are done, and yes, they did generally speaking on most shoes. But they weren't using the leather like on Italian sneakers today. If you really want the (now) most played put shoe in the world next to the air force 1, find someone who makes custom 1s with quality leathers and pay the price. Personally I wouldn't do it, but NIKE won't ever go back to using premium without charging a premium although they have done some premium releases that are set apart from the rest due to enough people complaining like the 3's with the Nike Air heel tab, but especially the 2015/16 Cement IV, and in 2017 they did a pair of 6s with premium leather and Nike Air on the back too. The shoe claims full grain leather treated with stone wash and wax and from what I've seen on the internet, it's typically manufactured in Portugal but the Made In Italy one is indeed handmade in Italy so you don't need splurging out the Dior 1. Magic Basket goes to B-Tier because while it uses cow leather, some of them have synthetic detail.

@Oyashio2022 жыл бұрын
@@etagged Yes, it would? Remember, the grain structure practically defines how durable a leather is. The higher up it is, the less you want a thick coat on it because it's plenty durable by itself and the porous nature of it's skin will naturally show(SBB). The 85's clearly didn't have it so they have to throw a thick coating AND put a thick ass coating on it with FAKE porous holes. This is more like a high quality steak seared well with a bit of butter on top versus a super market steak with ketchup on top. Will it matter to sneakerheads? Probably not tbh cuz it's ultimately what looks good to them anyway.
@etagged2 жыл бұрын
@@Oyashio202 Still not convinced. You say that the 85's aren't durable so they have to add a PU layer on it, but Rose Anvil never mentioned that in the video. from the comparison pictures, it looks like the leather from the 85's and the SBBs are identical - some grain and then the split layers. To me Nike probably added the thick layer to add to the water resistance (and a little more durability). Leather is water resistant but leather with a PU coat is even more water resistant. They likely added the fake porous holes because they can't have the shoe look totally smooth after adding the layer. Let me know if I missed anything though, I just don't think anyone has demonstrated that the 85 leather isn't as durable as the SBB leather and therefore they need an additional coat.

I would like for you to do a review on the Jordan 4s or 11s, especially the 11s patent leather

I’d like to see you go down the Jordan line. Msrp wise 2, 3, 4, and 5 are higher in price ranging $190-225 for “GR-inline” and Quickstrike product.

A podiatrist suggested I purchase a pair to help with my incredibly flat feet, but i was thinking "those dont look supportive at all!" now that youve opened em up it def looks like the '85s would have good support and stability though! Think im gonna stick to my instapump fury collection for now though haha. Thanks for another awesome video!!

The Jordan 5 jade horizons are under retail so I think that’d be a good shoe to cut apart for next week 😎

Would like to see you dissect a Jordan 3,4 and 11 as these are the most popular Jordan sneakers in the market. Very curious on their construction

you should review the Jordan 1 pollens. I'd love to see how you grade the leather on those

Also you should compare the the spartan green dunk highs to the spartan green dunk lows. They completely changed the quality of dunks around February 2021

Not sure if someone has mentioned it before. I m really interested to see the leather quality on the Air Jordan 1 Visionaire. Many people saying that this cracked leather is the same as the Air Jordan 1 Chicago ‘Reimagined’ coming out end of the year. Thanks and always appreciate your channel. Keep up the good work!

I'm almost 50, so I'm the right age to have had original jordans (1's, 4's, and 23's! LOVE the 23's don't @ me lol spats rule) and now have reissues of the 12's, 1's, 4's, and 2's. All the reissues feel like they have cheaper leather than the OG's except my oreo 4's from 2015. The 12 reissues feel pretty good but I did not have an OG of that type so I can't compare then directly.

I’d love to see a video on the Air max 90? They are a very popular shoe and would love to see what they look like when cut in half

Please, do the Brooks Zeal Walker! Not the most popular Brooks shoe, but one that's got a mostly leather upper. Most Brooks are mesh shoes, but not the Zeal Walker. The Addiction Walker is also a leather shoe. And the lining is really good on those Brooks, high quality textile material, long lasting.

The 85s def feel more supportive and solid on foot, I'm sure the upgraded insoles help with that too

Listen, I pulled a few pair of Just Dons out the back of my collection. From my novice opinion, they used a beautiful high quality leather. I actually had them hot wrapped for years and taking the seal off the leather smell smacked me in the face. I’d love to see you analyze those shoes.
