Celine. Those runs. Completely mind blown. The fact that she sustained her voice till so far is the most impressive thing ever. I mean as compared to her peers(Nippy and MC), her longevity is so captivating. Queen of Ballads 🎶👸 Mariah was casually hitting F#5 without sounding like she's screaming then shoots to an A6 whistle aas if it's nothing. You'd think she was in her mid belts but nope, Sis was in her upper belts. It sounds so effortless and magnificent. She had the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. SONGBIRD SUPREME 🐦 👑 Whitney Houston was such a force. Her mid belts are so powerful and beautiful. She had quite a chest on her. The way she sang, she just made you cry. She captured you. In the singing competitions, judges gasp when contestants say they are going to sing a Whitney. I've never seen that reaction from judges when contestants say they are going to sing Mariah's songs. Whitney's songs are not only high-but you need range, depth, technicality, super breathing techniques, etc. to pull them off. Whitney's songs are notoriously known for their difficulty. Singing high- or screaming or "whistling"- is not all there is to singing. Is that even singing?

As a singer I personally don’t stan many artists, but Whitney was definitely a freak of nature. Her powerful mid-belt, coupled with her tone and ability to INTERPRET is why she stands alone here. The part when they cut the background music off and she was totally exposed should tell you this. Belting live with no music is probably one of the hardest things you can do vocally (ask an opera singer), and she delivered every time (perfect pitch; supported, sustained).
