Man, this channel turned me into a g-shock lover. I never really paid any attention to g-shock in the past but now I got a GA-2000 on my purchase list. Gotta start from the basic model.

I'm glad you've caught the bug. It happened to me 4 years ago after purchasing an atomic/solar square (5610). Gs are such great value and are trusty companions. I wear nothing but Gshock, switching from my favourite G, my daily shift G, the square - to an evenings and weekend GPW1000. I'm a middle aged guy, with not the best eyesight and the display is super clear.

While exploring the GPW 1000, I stumbled upon your reviews and instructional videos and found them as THE best on YT. You have a beyond fantastic narration with all relevant information. You are holding the watch steady and in good view and the camera and lighting are perfect as well. Could not ask for more. Many thanks! 😻

*Man, having a timepiece with the capability of the correct time synced with GPS anywhere on earth, at anytime of the day is something to be coveted. Hope to have one in pristine condition preowned in a few years when the price drops. And it has a Super Illuminator that emits light on the whole dial? Yeeaahhhh buddyyyyyyy!!!*

Having trouble finding the information, is there a battery level indicator on the GPW-1000 models? Or am I just supposed to wait until it goes into some sort of low energy level mode? Not seeing anything about it without completely rereading the instructions. If you can help, Thanks in advance!
@tarheelred4 жыл бұрын
*_If the second hand ticks every hr., your timepiece has a High charge. If the second hand only moves in two second increments, it’s at a Med. level & needs to be charged pronto. At this stage, certain functions will be disabled. You may only have the functionality of Home Time Mode._* *_If your functions haven’t any movement, your batter is dying. But although solar batteries die, they can be revived with elongated charging. During elongated charging, to elevate your battery level will back to H, this may take a few (3 to 4) days of constant sunlight/solar watch charging station time._*

The only things I found annoying with mine were the crown becomes 'unlocked' much too easily and that, especially compared to the GPW-2000, reading the stopwatch and countdown timer seems much less intuitive. If you haven't done one already I would like to see a review on the GPW-2000 which I am a big fan of. Thanks very much.

I am slightly confused, when I pulled up Rescue Red on Google it shows various watches including the GravityMaster with a "Bright Red" band, the one in the video appears orange. Then there are ones with an orange band and a copper looking ring around the face which comes up as the 4AJF model. Also noted are red hands on the lower left quadrant area, whereas the one with the orange band has white hands??
@WatchGeek5 жыл бұрын
This one is red, but lighting can sometimes make it appear slightly orange
@fredminpin4 жыл бұрын
How many of these "Rescue Red" models did they make, for example was it limited to 5000 of each?? Is there a way to research this info? Thought about getting one, but appeared to be a basic one that had the bezel and straps changed so they could sell it for looking like the rescue red model.

I have had this watch (GPW-1000) from 2014 (day after launch), bought new. I wouldn't recommend it. For me, the GPS reception function has simply stopped working. I can't verify the MultiBand 6 as I am in a country that doesn't reliably receive the radio signal. So I'm reduced to setting the watch manually. In addition, the strap is quite brittle despite having all kinds of "carbon resin" and what not labels. And as someone else mentioned, it is an uncomfortable watch to wear. Yup, heavy and chunky, and that would be fine except the damn crown really does dig into the dorsum of your hand if you wear it on the left wrist. Even when the watch was working perfectly, the GPS reception for time and place would take quite a long time (minutes) even in a perfectly empty field under a clear sky. Time alone is a bit quicker, but it's still inconvenient. Plus the UI (user interface) is ridiculously unintuitive and overcomplicated. This video makes it look easy, but it shouldn't even have to be explained like this. And many functions are crippled from the factory with the lack of a digital display. Only a 24 min stopwatch and no split function, for example. And the alarm is one of the quietest I've ever heard. Probably to save on the solar battery, but it's not actually usable and I'm not that heavy a sleeper. In short, this watch is vastly overpriced for what you actually get. Steer clear of it. Go for the newer Bluetooth models. I have two, and they work very well. Everyone has a smartphone nowadays. And simple Bluetooth only models are so much cheaper than anything with GPS functionality. The point of the GPW-2000 (the updated version of this) having GPS + MB6 + Bluetooth really escapes me. Save your dimes.
