FYI with delta/triangle links, leaving the twist link open compromises the rated strength/weight bearing capabilities of it. Twisting the link fully closed turns it into a fully closed loop triangle.

I got the SunPow bands and have been using them for 3 to 4 weeks. I use them at a park/outdoor gym on a pull up bar and captains chair to assist with dips. I got them because I want to get a pull up. I've been doing negatives with them. I have a long way to go, but the important part is that I'm already seeing progress. Originally, I could not pull up at all, even with the bands. I can now pull up a tiny bit with the big band. I can also do dips full range with the red band. I could only do negatives with the band before.

I don't have the Sunpow bands but I do have 2 sets of "pull up" assistance bands. I bought these years ago and they are in great shape. I have considered buying the Undersun bands but I have 2 sets of these Pull UP bands and can do everything anyone else can do with the Undersun stuff. To me, just throwing these bands away for a "brand name" set and going all in with Gloves, Bands, Carry Cases etc. with the Undersun name on them is a little pretentious. Maybe when these wear out I will take the dive but for now I don't see the need to switch when both sets can do the same things.

I loop my heaviest US band around a metal picnic table leg, then I put the 2nd or 3 lightest US band through that, and do really good tricep extensions, but the band sort of rub on my shirt in back, which is annoying. @GamerBody3 жыл бұрын

@bossfan612 жыл бұрын
I'm strongly considering resistance bands and the UnderSun bands definitely look like the better choice. My only "resistance" to buying them is most of these exercises look like there's a lot of shaking/wobbling and I would think it's a very awkward movement. Also, these bands are labeled with a wide range of resistance (e.g. Heavy 40-80, Medium 30-60, etc). How do you know exactly what "weight" you're moving with any of these bands?
@GamerBody2 жыл бұрын
You won't know the exact weight as it changes based on how stretched the bands are. This is why I just label a band and try to standardize the exercises to match the same setup. This way I can track appropriately.

I believe they all snap or wear out eventually, I've been band training since covid started. Lockdown has been extremely long in Ireland so I've been using them 6 times a week and my son uses them too. I've replaced every band bar the xtra heavy and the ultra heavy. One gave me a nasty bruise on my gut but no matter what brand wear and tear is inevitable. I use mine outdoors as well so they'll wear out. But look as gym equipment goes they really aren't expensive
@monkeyb18203 жыл бұрын
Just try not to stand on them directly on concrete. That will wear them out a bit. You could probably even bring a folded up piece of cardboard for standing on. I bring a sort of accordion-fold yoga mat b/c I do a mix of band and suspension trainer stuff, some on my back. But I'm careful not to stand on the bands on the pavement.

So one of your complaints when it comes to the sunpow bands is technically more resistance? Shouldnt be a complaint even when trying to get in position as you said. Sounds like a pro
@GamerBody2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call the negative more resistance, but the setup. Since there is more tension in the setup, especially in the front squat, it is difficult to properly set up the squat and increases the risk of doing it wrong causing injury. Smaller con but one nonetheless. It also isn't an issue with all exercises, just the ones where you set up at the shoulder level. Your height can also play a factor as being shorter probably won't cause this problem.

Use free weights stop being a wimp. You can’t build muscle with bands.
@GamerBody2 жыл бұрын
I disagree as you most certainly can, but the resistance curve of the band doesn't always match up with the strength curve of a muscle through exercise. It might not be optimal, but bands can definitely build muscle when used appropriately.
@littlenel172 жыл бұрын
@@GamerBody I’m just messing with you man. I know you can. I used TA2 Build program and there were gains. Progressive overload and taking advantage of linear variable resistance is key. A lot of people when using bands make the mistake of not loading the bands in the start position. They always have some slack. I would always have some resistance at the start so when I hit peak contraction the band was almost fully stretched.
