Hi, guys! I started this project when I hoped it was cool enough and the temps ended up climbing to 67. I tried putting the silicone in the fridge for just a bit to lower the temp but it was honestly a tacky mess. What do you suggest I do from here? The passenger seat is okay as I did it earlier, but the driver's seat, will likely look like crap. Only great news is that it's black and hides things very well. The temps should be under 60 tomorrow. Oh yeah, I'm also running out of time because I have a car show next weekend. Hahahaha!!! Thanks so much!!

Lincoln Mark VIII Addicts you have to place it on and spread it immediately it takes an initial set pretty quickly also did you mix a little bit of color with the silicone as shown in the video? that works great not too much and that will keep it from being tacky
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
if you mixed to much color in it will stay tacky...now you can start over and just wipe what you have placed on and do it again or try spraying a small area with your color that usually will take out any tackiness if it does then you are ready to paint

Does anyone know if you can mix the SEM color cost with silicone successfully? It's different than regular spray paint.

Did you texturize with your thumb & the kit texture patch as in the other videos?
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
Fred C Dobbs it all depends on what video you are doing, the silicone video we use our thumb to knock down the slight ridges and with this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnTTp4CMaNCoY80 we use the patches

What is the biggest tear or hole that can be repaired vs replaced? I am about to do a new build and would like to give this a try.
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
This method is really for smaller punchers and cuts or tears no longer than an inch or two most of the time if the seat is in shredded and bad condition it is best to replace the seat cover
@FOURWHEELTRENDS6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I had my last Jeep repaired and it did not last very long. Looking forward to finding an extra seat to test this out on. Looks great.

@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
Justin Slawek make sure you see all 3 videos in the series the best way is to mix a little color with the glue then apply

@@SweetProjectCarsThank you for the reply! I have watched them all several times. They have helped tremendously. I will post a video of my conversion soon! I am waiting for the silicon to dry currently. The other seat does not need repair so it will be sprayed today!

@@SweetProjectCars Painted the headrests. Still a little scared about painting over the silicon. I guess if it does not work, I can sand it off. It's been 24 hours and it is still a bit tacky. How long do you wait after painting to use 303? These seats were very dry from the start. Thanks again! Sorry for all of the questions!
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
Justin this is the video that works the best kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGmbaJaZo7dli68 when you mix just a tad of paint with the glue also if it stays tacky just place a mist of color over it and let it dry it will no longer be tacky. but again mixing a bit of the color with the glue works great. this procedure does take a bit of patience and skill but you will get it

I’m trying to repair my pontoon boat seats. I did all the steps but I didn’t sand it smooth enough. I already applied silicone and it dried so uneven. How can I start over? :(
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
you would just go over it with new permatex and lay it on smooth make sure you do it when it is cool out as it sets up pretty fast
