Wow, mic C has a notable better audio than the rest. For me the order was C D A B, with B being the worst. Everytime B was used, it felt like some robotic sound. Kinda hard to explain specially since english is my second language so i cannot find words on it to describe, but it annoyed me in a way i cannot explain, compared to the rest. Great video.

Nice video but you’re missing some features about the Sennheiser MKE 200 that make it well worth the $99. It has an integrated shock mount inside the built-in external windscreen. You can then add the furry windshield when it’s really windy which helps a lot. Also, the cable is intentionally and conveniently placed in front of the microphone so it doesn’t get in the way of the view finder. I did enjoy the sound of the MOVO because it has a nice low end but the Sennheiser is much more natural which is what you’re looking for when EQing your audio in post production. Thanks for comparing these products!

First off, this was VERY helpful. Thank you VERY MUCH! Watching in 2021 and there are already lots of comments, but just for kicks, here are my observations without knowing which mic is which (listening in good headphones; Sony MDR-7506): A) Too strong in the mids; no bottom. Has that quality like holding your hands around your mouth to call out to someone. I'd never use this. B) Still a tad mid-heavy, but better than A and I like that is has a little more bottom. Also wondering if this is the D4 because behind the camera sounded really clear in a couple of shots (though in the car most sounded fine from behind the camera). Definitely usable with some tweaking in post. C) This sounded the best to me in every shot. Smoothed out mids, no harsh treble range, richer without being boomy. In studio, it might be a little too much bottom for deeper voices, but easily fixed in post. D) Not as rich as C but also less pronounced mids; a bit smoother than A or B. Nothing distinctive; kinda flat. C wins for me. If B turns out to be the D4, I'd give it serious consideration for it's feature set and incredible flexibility (there are some good usage vids out there); a little EQ can fix its flaws. REACTION: Not really surprised except for the Sennheiser and Rode. I didn't expect the Sennheiser to do so poorly (that was my bottom pick). I've heard other blind tests between the Movo and Rode Micro and I've always liked the Movo. Even in other blind tests, the Rode Micro always sounds cheap and tinny, so I'm surprised I gave it as much credit as I did here, but I still didn't like it. And the D4 holds it's own with usable sound and flexible features but the Movo price is ridiculous with the best sound, so I've still got some decisions to make. PS: As of April 2021, the online description says both the Movo VXR10 regular and Pro come with both TRRS & TRS cables, if that addresses that minor complaint.
@BlairAltman4 жыл бұрын
I can't say that the sound quality was notably bad with any of them. Like you two said, I think that at the end of the day any of them will produce a good enough result for what they are intended for. The design of the Sennheiser actually makes the most sense to me for three reasons. First I like the cable being in the front because if I quickly switch to taking a photo and use the view finder I wouldn't have a cable in my forehead. Second it is the most compact which will make it easier to pack in my small hip bag while biking. Third, having the shock mount inside of the mini blimp should make it more durable than jamming any of the others that have a floppy external shock mount in my bag.

I’m really surprised you guys thought that D sounded the cheapest, I thought B sounded like when discord glitches out while someone is talking, but 100% of the time. Like a hollow robotic sound. I think the best was A with C not far behind, mostly because A was the most consistent. My only complaint with the video is you guys would show one microphone in the car sitting still, and then switch to the next mic while the car was moving so it’s not a fair comparison. It was mostly addressed at the end but we didn’t get to hear them inside the car back to back while the car was stopped for a fair comparison

Wow. I've been watching a bunch of videos on the Deity D4 Duo and love the capabilities of it, but I haven't had a good comparison of it to other cameras. As I listened through all the cameras, I noticed Mic B was super good in regards to clarity, and it might have even been switch to use the rear camera in one of the shots. I'm pretty impressed that I picked B as my favorite, and it turned out to be the mic that I like the best!

I was shocked. At the starting of the video, I was so inclined towards Sennheiser. I headed to watch this video in my studio, which is acoustically treated. I was amazed at how Diety D4 sounded. First, thanks for the review. At 13:25 when you switch to the Movo (C) you're protecting the mic from the wind because of that pilar. If that was intentional it's bias. The dead cat on the Movo (and the Deity) is far worse than that of the rode mic and Sennheiser. We love an underdog, but there's a reason the Sennheiser costs $99 and it's not the brand name only. It has the best wind protection by far, it's really reliable (and it was the most exposed in your test) and that's not subjective as it is with the sound signature. Speaking of which Sennheiser and Deity (that even has kind of a safe track built in using both capsules/stereo mode) offer the best clarity and flexibility to anyone that would spend 1 minute in post, as fun and feature packed the deity is its dead cat is a dealbreaker as the movo. Also subjective is the "problem of the front cable on the Sennheiser" to me it's a solution and a clever one since it allows it to have the best back pickup from it's super cardioid pattern. My only gripe is that misrepresentation (IMO) of the performance of the movo under windy conditions, if you don't need that fine I do agree that the movo sounds fuller straight out of camera, but it also is the muddiest. Wind ruins sound, if it matters to you steer away form movo and this specific deity IMO.

@@crisrocchi2722 No problem! Armando in this video is talking about the VXR10 PRO, which is the updated version of the VXR10. The PRO has additional features like the headphone monitoring (which I think is key). I went out and bought the VXR10 after watching Armando talking about it in Potato Jet's video. The VXR10 came out a couple of years ago and does not have a headphone monitoring feature. It is also $30 versus the PRO for $50. I did not notice when ordering that there was a PRO version available. If I had realized that this version was available (it was, I just didn't really read the website thoroughly), I would have spent the extra twenty bucks and bought the PRO. I've been using the VXR10 for a couple of weeks now and it's been performing well. I haven't released any of the videos I've recorded with the mic just yet (I think the first one comes out next weekend) but I have been pleased with the mic. For reference, I had been using the TakStar SGC598 since February, which is a decent mic for $20. Personally speaking, I think the Movo offers great sound at an excellent price point. I tend to not find the sound of Rode mics to my liking - and while I'm very new to KZbin, in my previous life, I worked with various mics from Sennheiser, Schoeps, Countryman and the like. If you like the sound of the Movo in the video, I think it's a great choice! Hope that helps.

The Movo has a clear synthetic increase in the lower frequencies. This creates its "fuller" sound- although this could be done in post with an eq-curve in under 20 seconds. As a result the high end becomes less nuanced and clear. The Rode has the greatest range and separation and sound like the best mic to actually process sound from. The Movo is the nicest one to the ear "raw". The others fall behind in that they both lack the initial processing that gives the initial "full sound" but still has pretty awful high end.

Great idea with "blind test" in the end, either of these mics will improve the internal mic quality. None of these will, in my opinion, make a viewer stop watching for the lack of sound quality. My vote is Movo if staying under that 100 mark.

My choice was the MKH-416, soooo option "E" I suppose, lol Still is and always will be my favorite mic, especially going into a 32bit floating recorder like the Zoom F6 or even that MixPre 6.

Haha the thousand dollar professional mic? Yup that’s a winner for sure 🤣👍

Is that mic inder $100 no pendejo read the title it say under 100 not 1k, but at the end of the day I agree with you, senny 416 and tlm 103 make love to my ears everytime.

@@rigocornejo6003 I said option "E", lol. I know, def not under $100, can't help it. Finally bit the bullet a couple years ago and now use the 416 for everything. Hard to consider anything else now. Over 10 times the cost, but not 10 times better, definitely a case of diminishing returns, but most things in video production are as you chase high IQ and Audio

@@rigocornejo6003 they are both nice for sure. I used them both for quite a bit of videos and studio recordings. If I could just have one... I think I’d go with the 416. 103 is killer too, but I like everything you can do with the 416.

@@Hangs4Fun definitely not diminishing returns after decades of constant use on location and in the studio. How many of these $50 mics will still be fully functioning 10+ years from now?

with C sounding the best but it def needs a lil bit of high end bump in post and it would really sound even better

Thanks for the video.. Armando, do you know what is a good "free" Audio recording app or cheap one for an Iphone that is the best for recording to the iPhone ?

TRRS is stereo out (speakers) and mono in (mic), hence the Deity can't put different mics onto different channels via TRRS.

I could only hear a slight difference. I Think I like mic "C" the most? then D, then B then A, probably. But the similar sound quality from these isn't what will be the decider for me.

Shock mount is built in inside the ‘mke100. Per the company. Thanks

To be honest. I liked Microphone C in every single scenario. In car sounds much better with more bass than others. In outdoors, so much of noise reduction and makes night and day difference. Except inside car, C and D both worked pretty well. It was like C at 100% and D at 90% performance. Totally smoked A and B. And tbh honest I thought A would be Rode videomicro.

On the Movo, is the red holder (shock absorber) rubber or plastic?
