One thing I would add to any list of features to help with longevity of a gasoline engine is to avoid "direct injection" fuel systems. Direct injection directs the fuel/air mixture directly into the combustion chamber. This feature comes from racing and improves performance, however, it also causes major carbon build up on the valves. This doesn't occur with port injection engines because the fuel air mixture passed over the valves and the fuel acts as a solvent keeping the valve surfaces clean. There are some engines that now have a combination of both in the same engine, (I think Toyota does this) which is also a good solution. But if you have a engine that has direct injection, you absolutely will have carbon build up issues that are difficult to fix.

According to the Car Care Nut, any tiny bump on the rear bumper especially on the side of the bumper may cause Blind Spot Monitoring/Rear Cross Traffic Alert sensor to mis-align and required re-calibration by a dealer.

@@lennygarrison6836well, I will always prefer a spare tire. Always. But that was my experience with a flat tire. At the beginning was skeptical about if the kit will work, but it worked pretty good for 2 weeks. As I said, that was my experience. I used the foam repair kit that uses a air compressor supplied by the vehicle.

Also, when you talk about advantageous features, please also provide the names of the vehicles brands that carry them (alternately, those that don't). And thanks for the time stamps! Nice video as usual.. You mentioned great features to be looked at when buying a new vehicle. You missed one great feature which find it very useful. This is adaptive cruise control. My daughter’s CX5 has adaptive cruise control and it is really good. You set the distance between your car and vehicle ahead and set the speed, rest it takes care of..

If these features actually prevent accidents, why are my insurance premiums on a 2024 car FOUR TIMES the premiums on a 2003 car without any of the gimmicks?
@oleglishchenko49222 ай бұрын
This is hard to believe unless you had a couple of at fault accidents. Or maybe your new car is on a high theft list? My insurance obviously went up in 10 years but just about 50%. But I changed my insurance company after 2-3 years. Otherwise they get greedy and gouge you.
@jdmather57552 ай бұрын
Could it be because the 2024 car would cost the insurance company 40 times the cost of the 2003 car in the case of a total loss accident?
@jamesstuart33462 ай бұрын
@@jdmather5755 Sure, but shouldn't all the safety features in the new vehicle mean it won't get into as many total-loss accidents? I think what's happening is from an insurance point of view, the cost of repairing all the safety equipment is far outweighing the savings from fewer accidents. Ironically that means drivers get financially punished for driving safer cars

Stability control, back up camera and Anti-lock brakes are the only safety items needed IMO. Anything else is just a security blanket for cel phone users. The touch screen controls are IMO a huge distraction and safety concern. The added cost of these items raise the price of cars at MSRP and over the long term with added maintenance expense. Technology is no guarantee of progress.

Must Have ? Tan or Brown Leather interior ! No more Fugly, Outdated, Old Gloomy Grey or Death Black. My 23 TRD OR DC LB with the Premium and Technology pkgs came with the 1990 FUGLY Death Black Leather interior. It get so dusty and shows everything, all the time and I absolutely HATE it. I reached out to Katzkin and had them make me “Lava Red” Leather seat covers trimmed in black and black stitching. After Katzkin removed the factory black leather seat covers and installed the new seat covers, I sold the black leather seat covers . The Lava Red seat covers look Awesome with the custom 2 tone Barcelona Red metallic paint on my Tacoma. The White over Red looks Great, as does the Bronze wheels. Our last pickup was Silver 🤮, so I had it 2 toned in Red metallic as well. The upholstery in our last pickup was grey and black, so I bought neoprene Red and black seat covers for it. That pickup was a 1 of a kind as well. I enjoy making my pickups a 1 of a kind and I LOVE RED.

Enphasises on Worst modern car features that can kill you
Notice in the blind spot monitoring animation that you can see the side of the subject vehicle from the side view mirror. Most drivers place their mirrors this way which is 100% wrong. Many great KZbin videos show how to properly place your rear and side view mirrors to eliminate blind spots. If you can see the side of your car from your side view mirrors, they are pointed too far inwards. Technologies like this and other potentially dangerous features (because people rely on them too much), like adaptive cruise control are for people who shouldn't be on the road in the first place.
