No lie! First muscle car I drove a buddy of mine lent me his 6.4 V8 Charger and I wasn’t used to the amount of power on the pedal. It was exhilarating but dangerous. I’d look away for 2 seconds and be on the bumper of the car in front of me since I was so used to driving an SUV. Ffw to now and I’m a happy owner of a 392, but with more experience handling them. First muscle car for anyone in the market should definitely be 5.7 or lower. Just the same amount of fun with less danger!

I got a Challenger R/T 5.7 because I almost wrecked a Scat Pack in the dealer parking lot on a test drive. I barely touched the gas. It made me see Jesus for that split second and turned me right off to that power. Im pretty happy with my 5.7 and getting it in 6speed manual helps with its sportiness too.

1. A GOOD Cold Air intake like the Injen Evolution proven 19hp and 21tq 2. Good exhaust system (get rid of the mufflers and resonators they’re heavy and restrictive) 3. Diablosport Trinity 2 platinum tuner or another good tuner that you can add custom tunes onto later 4. Headers if you want to keep the stock cats, want an easy install and daily drive the car and want off the jump performance get shorties if you’re building a track car or 1/4 car get long tubes 4. Larger throttle body the MMX 87mm is an awesome 1 there’s also other options such as the BBK 90mm 5. A GOOD Cam with OEM NON MDS LIFTERS again highly recommend MMX 6. While you’re in there if you have the money get your heads and intake ported and polished 7. Tires. As he said a 275, 305 or 315 if you have wider wheels and are planning to wide body your car.

A CAI is only good for actual 5 hp at best - you’d need a tune , wider throttle body and performance exhaust like Borla or Corsa to see a 15 hp gain ( Dodge used to sell the Stage Kits,1-2-3, and stage 1 had that 15 hp/15 lb-ft torque for about $2,500 that had the performance oil filter, exhaust kit and CAI)

The reason I got the RT was because it was more affordable for me while still enjoying the muscle car experience. Also my insurance is not going to be as high as the Scat or Hellcat, plus I can always mod later down the line.

I’m here after starting my 2013 RT journey 2 months ago. Done full body alignment, re spray pitch black, new chrome badges, custom red leather seats, mid muffler delete, Quad tips, 275’s on stock rims. It looks awesome. Now I’m looking at that V8… it’s only done 50k miles. Thanks for the vid, it’s great and I appreciate your logical analysis. I’m looking at CAM, Cold Intake, Short Header keep CATS, Diablo Tune and then I will realize I need the Exh system 😂 I bought the RT as I never want en electric car or any of the over complex new ICE cars. With the Challenger you can still buy all the new spares online and great KZbinrs like you who can put so much info online to support and convince guys like me to just do it. Thank Bro 👍

The absolute best bang for your buck is the SRT exhaust manifolds. They are basically a factory shorty header and they've been tested to flow just as well or even better than the best aftermarket shorties. MMX sells a package that has the Hellcat manifolds and SW 3in. midpipes for $550.

@DNAxFILMS it is but you will need either SRT midpipes or and aftermarket midpipe for the Scatpack or Hellcat. I went with Stainless works Hellcat midpipes.

Good morning & nice greetings from Bavaria (in Germany) 👋🍀🙂 Nice to listen about your Plan for mod your nice Challenger, especially with the 5.7 HEMI 👍🙂 I'm also new on the HEMI, also 5.7L in a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona & i've bought the Car at NC and imported it to me, to Bavaria, Germany. And the Car has a bigger throttle body, cold Air intakte and even the Diablo Sport Programmer, too...🙂 The Car has 136.000mls and i'm an Auto Stylist & Designer, but also professionelle Auto mechanic and i'm doing all by myself. And because Engines are my big Love, especially the good American V8's! Especially the HEMI was so amazing for me & now i'm working on this 1st Generation of this new Chargers. And I was very happy when i saw that this 2006 Charger LX Platform Car with 5.7 HEMI and full loaded has only 1.800kg! Because that's not much weight for a modern fullsize Sedan with a length of 5m +! 😋 I'm also restoring US classic cars and a '67 Chevy Impala/Caprice 4 Door Hardtop ist my big restoration Project of me & my dad. (Everybody knows this kind of Impala from the TV Show "Supernatural", it's exaxtly that Car) and this good old Detroit Iron has roundabout 1.780kg with the 327 Cui. 275hp Chevy Small Block. These both cars has nearly the same weight & the Chevy is 5.40m long, and it has No B-pillars between the doors what makes that Sedan to a Hardtop, and that's sooo beautiful that i wish the modern Dodge Charger had also that Hardtop Style without the B-pillars between the doors...😍😅 You can see, for me as a Auto Stylist i'm looking at things what many people didn't recognize.... But whatever, i hope the 2006 Charger in the rare Daytona edition would be a good Car. It has the mileage, but for an V8 i think it's Not many....it has many different things like oil Change to do, what i'm working on still in the moment. But I've also bought new wheels to give it a great Stance, because for an American Muscle i tought the Stock wheels are tooo small, especially in the wide. But i didn't choose 20" rims, i've choosen 19×10.5" rims with an Offset of 22. For Front and rearend. And I didn't go with 20" because i think i would give the Car a more aggressiv Stance with the wide 19×10.5" and 255/45 + 285/40 R19 tires. + BC coilovers. The most of this parts are there now but i'm still waiting for these rims...the customs is very slow of whatever.. 😓...but then i'll see If i've choosen the right parts for an modern American Muscle in an little different, aggressiv Style 😋 I'll see If i've to mod more at the 5.7 HEMI, but i think that these parts like the Diablo Sport Programmer, cold Air intakte with bigger throttle body give that HEMI a very nice performance...

I like what you said in this video. I got a 2010 rt. With long tube headers and full exhaust from borla. Cats eliminated. Also a CAI. This alone makes a difference. I thought about a cam, but you have to get it tuned to the car to run. You can get more hp out of a supercharger or turbo

You broke it down perfect for the 5.7 RT. Honestly this might just be the better route instead of getting a 6.4. With the modifications that you listed this is compatible against an Audi S3 or S4 series. I’ve always thought that a 6.4 would be a better route by just upgrading a cold air intake but with the mods on a 5.7 that you listed is probably the better choice. Thankfully my 17 challenger rt was already out of the factory warranty when I purchased it. Just installed a borla atak catback exhaust. Immediately got noticed by others lol. Got a CAI on the way and doing long tube headers with a tune very soon. My goal is to make a sleeper R/T also.

@@DJGRoc the sniper opening is 92mm which is exactly the same size as the OEM Hellcat throttle body. Got one used for $113. I'm going to use the Hellcat airbox and I'm making my own CF tubing (4"). I also bought 6.1 Hemi intake gaskets. Not happy with what Holley provided.

@@AndreGuerrieri That's been my hold up on pulling the trigger on the Sniper manifold. I love the look of my Blackhawk intake, but it only fits the OEM 80mm throttlebody. Granted i do have a bored & tuned 80mm throttlebody, but that just doesn't seem sufficient for the Sniper.

Remember 2015+ Dodges have there PCMs locked. So if you want to tune your car, you'll have to buy an unlocked PCM.

Stage one is a Mopar intake and Cat back exhaust. Next do shorty headers, camshaft and throttle body spacer. Then slap a Procharger supercharger on and you’ll be working 550-600 crank horse and for probably under 10k American funds. She’ll haul ass! And work stock Scats fore sure!

had to watch you are about. I have a 2017 Ram crew cab 4wd with a light modded 5.7hemi. I have kook's long tube headers with high flow cats, vararam cold air intake, a ported throttle body and a magnaflow catback. it is for now tuned by Jay Greene, look up Greene racing on here. Another high rep tuner is Hemifever. One thing I would suggest, if using an email tuner, invest in a wideband O2 sensor. Reason why I am running on my initial tune from Jay, I don't want to keep going back and forth with him without an input from a wideband. Couple guys have got the 5.7s in Rams breaking into the 10s normally aspirated.

Modding a Scat Pack will give you more power and costs less than a Hellcat. Plus you can't get a hellcat in Manuel unless you special order it. Scat Pack, with Straight Pipes, Headers, Intake and a Whipple Bell Supercharger... You will get a 1000hp easy if not more depending how much you tune it. An it'll cost about $9k-$11k for everything

I have the borla exhaust on my 16 RT but I'm definitely going to be doing long tube headers I hear that really picks up good horsepower on these Hemis as the factory manifolds are pretty restricting

@@TheGrimRunner If you look at the design of them, you'll understand why they're so restrictive. They don't allow for scavenging, which is what long tube (and good shorty) headers do. Next to a cam, headers will give you the biggest boost in power. Also, contrary to popular belief, a tune is NOT required for headers. It is highly recommended though in order to achieve maximum performance from them. A cam definitely will need a tune after installation.

My Challenger is not my first muscle car but it us my first Dodge. I've been driving GM's my entire life and why I went onnthe mild side. Plus my fiancee is terrified of my SS Camaro and 02 Firehawk Trans-Am. She wants to drive this one. Although I'm still going for 25 more horse to make it an even 400 or a little over. Fun Fact: If you drop 16 inch tires on it you will shave a full second off your track times. We used to do that all the time at the track with our F-bodies. I don't know how one would put a 16 inch tire on one of these but if you figure it out...there's your sleeper move. ;)

Yea, you right about that exhaust. I’m upgrading to a magnaflow cat back exhaust. For the air intake I did some research and looks like the stock system sucks in cold air from the bottom as opposed to an intake system that closes the bottom and sucks in air from the top. I just upgraded the air filter itself. Then again, that’s my research. Gotta a lot of mods left to do on mine. Thanks for the info my good man!

Hey pal. I have a 2010 rt challenger 5.7 Liter. Which the cpu is not locked on that year. where as the newer ones are. have to get it unlocked in order to use any of the mods or investments for more horse power, otherwise no matter what you do you will not get the h.p. to use unless you unlock cpu.. So I bought my rt new .then put comp cam{# 274 model }run a striate pipe off mid hell cat headers with a 3400 stall converter, and 391 rear with thicker axels, need a { eE5 fuel system look it up on youtube , and your right a deablo tune and I need light weight rims and better tire. I have 20x 275 in back and and thinner in front .looks great. This guy is doing 10's in 1/ 4 mile. But I like your show. Frank

5:30 Something tires and lighter weight wheels will do is increase the power you actually put to the ground. If it takes less to spin it, it will be increasing your actual whp numbers. I went from 20s to lightweight 17s and dropped 180lbs in weight, increased like 10whp, and my acceleration increased drastically.

I have replaced 4 factory rims for the exact same crack on my '16 5.7 RT. It blew my mind after 4 cracks, but seems to be common issue. Factory rims go for about $1500 a piece. I have 6 sitting in my basement. i replaced them with some Hellcat replicas for around 600 a set. This was weirdly a much better replacement with far better durability.
