I was wearing a Leatt brace when I suffered a collision with an automobile. I was thrown from the bike and landed on my head. I broke my collarbone, but I'm sure that that neck brace probably saved me from a broken neck. My jacket and pants were barely scuffed but the side of my helmet was bashed. My head took most of the impact. Thank you Leatt for saving my neck, literally.

@@alansanchez2027 so little info available about them, I just ordered one to try out. I tried out a d air jacket today as a cervical spine saver. But I found it was a bit too bulky and probably too warm.

Just had a mild lowside in my Fox Titan armor jacket, other than a small tear in the mesh, the armor itself held up great. I was expecting the road to eat into the plastic, but I just skated across the pavement. I felt absolutely no impact. My leatt knee guards have wonderful abrasion resistance also. Wear gear, kiddos, so your 30 mph crash can feel like a 1 mph crash.

Francois Deshue Yeah, suede and denim will literally do nothing for abrasion resistance. Might as well have nothing on. Leather and Kevlar is the way to go.

Yup, if you like jeans I'd recommend Hood Jeans, for the full aramid coverage. Lots of people have wiped out in them and not suffered any abrasion, they also sell optional D30 armor inserts which I highly recommend. They've been making and refining them since the 90s. Draggin jeans might be more well known and have the Dupont kevlar brand tag, but I couldn't find any with full coverage. Jacket-wise, get a real motorcycle jacket, leather is preferable, but there are alternatives. And obviously wear proper gloves too, leather motorcycle gloves preferably.

Not really, the whole point of a jacket is to protect your elbows, shoulders, and your skin. The Stryker protects your back about as well as the flimsy-ass "armor" that comes in most jacket back-protector pockets, and it does absolutely nothing for all the other important parts. Hell, a backpack will do more for you. If you're too big of a bitch to deal with some heat or jacket discomfort, you're not convincing anyone that you'll be all tough when you have road rash and other injuries.

i wear one on the hottest of days (street commute only) and my buddy went down doing like 90 wearing one, and although is arms and shoulders got fucked up, that vest saved his life. Giant rock imprint on the chest on back, so even though these tests show less, they are actually good for street use.

I just discovered this channel a couple of days ago and I love all your content! The reviews on bikes and products, the crash test series, the vlogs - all of it is fantastic. I would like to see a bit of content geared toward women's riding gear in the future if you guys are up for it - I realize a lot of motorcycle gear can be unisex but it'd be nice to get an in-depth guide to things like jackets made specifically for female riders. I'm willing to spend a lot on a protective jacket but I'd prefer not to be drowning in a cut made for dudes. Either way, the whole FortNine crew is great! Looking forward to new videos!

Personally I feel we should Crowd Fund Ryan for the bikes we want to see reviewed. I think Fortnine does a great job supporting the content, The production seems far from low budget, to me at least. But no company can afford to buy all the bikes we want to see. Having said that, 130k Subs. a buck each! Ryan reviews the crap out of it, explores the arctic circle, then Fortnine does giveaways or raffles or lets Ryan and the crew keep them. Just a thought...

Hey FortNine, I have a request for a review video. You cover lots based on the type of motorcycle, and then you do stuff like Best Of and what not... But there's one type of gear I would like to hear your top picks for in particular; 'Chameleon' gear. My motorcycle is my primary mode of transport, so looking good off the bike is as important to me as safety on the bike, so a dedicated video for your top Chameleon picks would be cool.

actually in temperatures that high using a normal all weather jacket is better than a mesh summer jacket because the jacket becomes like a shield against the sun imagine using a mesh glove near fire and now imagine an thicker glove near fire which one would you choose. best thing to do is sock your shirt in ice cold water and close all the vents and when you feel warm open a little to allow for evaporation and cooling effects

They should sell shirts / pants for the replaceable pads I have a leather suit with no back or chest pad slots But I have a jacket I don't use all year that has D30 chest and back pads from icon There are clothes available with armor but they don't use the replaceable pads instead they use their own custom pads and cost around $300 and $100 without armor which seems unreasonable for a shirt with big pockets I could just cut up a few old shirts and sew them together to make my own armor pouch shirt I guess
