I had only driven with the LS2 before I got the EXO and I didn't realise how loud it was until switching helmets! The LS2 is very uncomfortable compared to the EXO though. If I were you, I would also look at the AGV K3 or K6, they're probably the best in that price range. I’m a long oval. Shoei’s unfortunately never fit me. That’s too bad. I’ve tried three different ones. On modular. Two full faces

Same, heard nothing but good about the Shoei, just doesn’t fit me, had to go LS2 Strobe modular, great fit, just ok helmet. Heard Aria Signet-X is good long oval option

Best budget helmet icon airflite? It might sell like hotcakes but damn are they cheap af feeling. I think scorpion helmets are much better for the price

I agree. The best way to get a helmet is to try it on if you can..

Scorpion exo 1100. Loved the fit, and Air bladders. Most importantly, saved my noggin in a pretty bad motorcycle crash, with minor damage to the helmet. Always and forever 🦂

Good video overall, but I can't for the life of me figure out why the Airflite is constantly given gold stars. Yes the graphics are cool, yes the visor and spoiler options are funky; but the video fails to mention the fact that the Airflite is a heavy, ill-fitting (for lots of people), and incredibly noisy helmet. Sure, graphics and cosmetic accessories are nice but compared to the function of the helmet they are rather tertiary. Not to mention, (as wasn't mentioned in the video) the Airflite MIPS cost $70 more at $320. You could buy other MIPS helmets such as the Bell Qualifier for less ($280) which also comes with an auto-tinting shield, and a fit that is far more compatible with most riders. Instead of the Airflite, there are several other helmets that would be more cost effective, offer a better fit, and be generally more pleasant to wear on the daily. Including the Scorpion EXO R420 (Snell, ~$150-$160), the HJC i10 (Snell, ~$135-$160), the aforementioned Bell Qualifier(ECE, ~$280), the HJC F70 (ECE, ~$250) just to name a few. None of these have the same flashy colorways, graphics, or cosmetic accessories that the Airflite has. What they do deliver in spades of, is better fit (for the majority) and better value. If looking cool and intimidating is the primary objective then by all means, the Airflite takes the cake every time. But you do make sacrifices for the appearance. Namely weight, size, fit and noise. If choosing a helmet that offers the most safety and function is the goal, then the Airflite has a long way to the top.

"If looking cool and intimidating is the primary objective" This is the primary objective for many riders. Hence, the Airflite sells like crazy, even though there are fiberglass/composite-shelled helmets out there (like the F70 you mentioned) for less money than the Airflite. Business gonna business, I guess. Well written though.

Hopefully since you have a tinted visor on the RF-1400 that means they will be available for the public.

One thing I can’t find anywhere is comparison of shell sizes when wearing (say the bubble head category). Maybe something for you guys to include/comment in reviews. But since I’m here, which one is more compact when on: AGV sportmodular, Nolan 100-5 or HJCs. These are different categories, but just trying to tick as many boxes as possible. Cheers!

I am a relatively new biker (1 year), and I have 3 helmets already (1 full, 1 modular and 1 open, low/mid price ranged), and I am looking these helmet videos, and thinking about getting a new one, not because I actually need one, but because I wanna try them and see if they are maybe better than my current :) Am I crazy or what? Do you guys switch helmets often, and what do you do with old ones?

Hey hey! I've been having a terrible time finding a full face helmet, my head is to big, even Cycle Gear could not believe it! Said I was the first ever their biggest helmet wouldn't fit lol I got the hjc i10 5xl would not even start to go on my head, tired of buying and returning, maybe there just isn't one out there for me. HEEEEELLLLLLP lol thanks guys!

Scorpion is so underrated. The EXO-R1 is such a great bargain for a track helmet. My EXO-R1 Carbon that I ordered from Europe only weighs 2.64 lbs, has ECE cert, titanium D-rings, free dark smoke visor, etc. I didn’t even know about their racing cred til I saw Fabio wearing one in MotoGP. The quality is fantastic and the US version should be available soon.

How’s do you think the EXO-R1 would do on a cruiser? I try looking at other helmets but I keep coming back to the R1
@shimjohn3 жыл бұрын
Brent Bandy I think it would do great. I use mine on a KTM 1290 Superduke and that thing is a hyper naked, so no front wind protection like a cruiser and it is fantastic at higher speeds. No wind buffeting and vibrations like my old HJC CL-17 on the highway 😎.
