Hey Kristian, love your show and this episode was the year wrap up party I have been waiting for. Congratulations and thank you. Just a quick note, maybe personal, maybe more feel it too. I love watching it while I am working throughout the night but I keep juggling the volume between your mic and your guests', as yours is always way lower. And with a baby sleeping next door, that is stress inducing! I would use headphones, but I want to be on the lookout for possible cries and all that might require my attention. Anyway, maybe it's just me! Keep up the great work dude, you are nailing it!

So good to see Dan here on the channel. I wish he was on it more to be honest because I can’t stress enough just how much you should be following him as a content creator on this overly saturated platform of grifter and slop content creators. Dan is by far one of the top three I trust the most of his insight on the industry and also his ability to be real with his thoughts and opinions.

I might be the only one, but I could see Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the DCU Batman. Kraven wasn't his fault and with a better studio and director behind him, I think he'd be awesome in the role. Also I don't see a James Bond in him. Having recently watched a documentary on the guy that Ian Fleming was inspired by for Bond (his name was Dusan “Duško” Popov), I got to say Daniel Craig looks the most like that guy. (Fun) fact: During WW2 Ian Fleming was sent to a casino to watch what Popov did with MI6 funding, only to see Popov use the money to play, and bet big on, a game of baccarat. Which was the game that Bond played in the Casino Royal book before they changed it to poker for the movie. So there you go: Casino Royal was inspired by actual events that happened during WW2.

Rocha's opinion on Depp vs. Taylor Joy is irrelevant since he hasn't seen The Witch. She clearly would've been able to do a great job as well based on Witch and Split.

Loved the chat! But I wish John didn’t give as many details on what you discussed. There were several instances of shows and movies where he’d say “by the end when…” and say something about the project. I know he might not see it as a spoiler but having not seen some of these yet due to their limited release, it was a little frustrating.

Day of the Jackal, and Baby Reindeer were two perfect shows this year, for me. I binged both of those shows right away. And I agree with Kristian, Dark Matter was top tier also. Cross was really good also. A very twisty turny sadistic fucked up thriller with a lot of substance, but also heart, and levity. Was the Curse this year? That show is amazin!

1:18:43 - For sure, the Big Kevin Costner movies of the 90s would have gone to streaming it it was around back then. Particually Bodyguard which made a whoping $400m in 1992. Maybe JFK and Danes with Wolves would get a limited release for an oscar push . This could explain why Horizen didnt do well. People are now prerfer to see this movies at home (as well as Costner with Yellowstone).

I find it weird that people are going on and on about the running time of "The Brutalist". It's about 3.5 hours, *including* an intermission. Yes, that is long, but there have been PLENTY of great movies over 3 hours, and they don't have an intermission, which gives you a time to hit the rest room or stretch your legs, generally making it much less of an endurance test. I'm looking forward to seeing it

I would argue the last big non hybrid comedy event movie in theaters (so not sci fi, mystery, action, comic book, horror, etc.) was Trainwreck in July 2015. Neither Schumer nor Apatow have had a movie anywhere near that big since.

Harloff, I’ve been following your content for years now, ever since Collider. But man, please do something about your mic. Somehow it manages to be significantly lower than anyone else you have on the show and as someone who’s only ever able to listen to the podcast, it’s really hard to manage the volume. I’m not sure if it’s just the way you speak or if it’s an engineering issue.
