I remember this game. I was at a friend’s house for a Halloween party. I remember checking ESPN while we were all outside seeing OSU down in with 9:28 in the 3rd quarter. And then a while later his dad came outside and said “you’ll all wanna see this, even Alabama boy over there” we all came inside and witnessed the greatest comeback I’ve ever seen in college football.

But those of us that SAW it, those of us that cared (should) know that that young man was as smart & athletic & capable as any one else. He was a true leader. Gus Johnson seems like that he had some of the greatest sports calls of all-time especially involving my Ohio State Buckeyes in football & basketball because he called the greatest Buckeye comebacks from basketball in 2005 to defeat an great Illinois squad then in 2007 when they defeated Xavier in the NCAA tournament & then in football this past season 2017 vs Penn State featuring Saquan Barkley because that Buckeye defense contain in the second half of that game to complete the comeback for the ages wow!

the call should have been incomplete pass since Denzel Ward had enough contact to prevent possession in the air. still the review could have called it incomplete... not sure it's even legal to overturn an int to a TD. i've never seen it happen. but then again, if you can possess the ball with a helmet or behind a defender's back, i guess it's possible. it was the earlier bad call that took int away from 7 was worse i thought. btw, in college, there's no challenge, refs review whenever necessary.

Yes if they would've called it a touchdown from the beginning and then reviewed it and still called it a touchdown I wouldn't have had a problem but when they called an int there was not enough evidence to overturn it

Would’ve been a shame if penn state would have won. The better team won, Ohio state controlled that game if you take away the 14 points that shouldn’t have happened it should have been 41-24 (41 bc Ohio state wouldn’t have gone for 2 twice). The pass interference to take away Webb’s pick. The overturned interception that yes could have gone either way but how was there enough evidence to overturn that. Ohio state outgained them by what like 260 yards? Penn state beat us in the first quarter and it was all Ohio state from there. We absolutely shut down Barkley. Trace mcsorley was exposed. Ohio state was clearly the better team the only thing wrong ab that game is special teams everything else is elite.

Yeah it's not often a team wins by 1 when they rack up almost twice as many total yards as the other team. Of course, that's mostly because of the kickoff return TD and the fact that two of PSU's touchdowns were when they started inside the OSU 25. If not for some blown calls by the refs and our poor special teams, it would not have been this close.

Agreed. I'm a Psu fan and I'm not about to be bias to my team but you're right the only reason Penn State had a big lead in that game to start out is because of 2 bizarre plays transpiring to start the game. Ohio state literally gave Penn state 14 points to start the game. First with the opening kickoff return for a touchdown and then on the ensuing offensive possession, Ohio State fumbled the ball (while they were moving right through psus defense like a hot knife through butter) and the ball bounced right to the Penn State linebacker and he returned it down into Buckeye territory to set up another touchdown to make it 14-0. So I wouldn't necessarily say Penn state "beat" Ohio state in the first quarter either. Ohio state should have won 39-24 instead of 39-38. They were clearly better. Game should be never been that close. Hats off to them though. They should've been in the playoffs and Penn state underachieved all year. Plus they didn't have the elite defense that's appropriate to have to compete with osu. They need depth on the dline. Ohio st has that, we don't and that was the major difference too. My lions just don't have enough to contend with the buckeyes now.

Matthew Hackett Sadly, yes. We should tell Denzel Ward to play special teams at all times, since he can outrun anyone in the nation (he has the fastest 40 of anyone in the nation I believe) and he blocked the punt.

Ohio State needs lots of work on special teams but the stats clearly showed that Ohio State is the better team
