As a guy who grew up in Pittsburgh, watching the Steelers take James Conner was one of the most wholesome moments I can remember in the sports world. He was a native of the area, played college ball for Pitt and was biggest story in town during his fight with cancer. Some people don't realize how hard it is to make it to the NFL, NBA or any professional sport. There are so many different selections to choose from. It takes a lot of dedication and commitment for someone to be noticed. It's not the luck of the draw it takes pure talent.

@bonjouritsready11 ай бұрын
@@0554joe there’s no such thing as a ‘rookie’ in European sports like there is for American sports. If a kid is 16 and is good enough to start for the men’s first team - he plays. There’s no ‘classes’ per say. Every team has multiple groups of players at various age levels that they develop for themselves with the ideal outcome being that those kids grow up to play for that team if they’re good enough. If someone is exception, they can accelerate that process and jump up an age group to develop faster (physically). An example right now is Jude Bellingham who was 16 captaining his home town club in the second tier of English football. A few years later he’s Real Madrid’s star, he’s still only 20 years old. I just saw your comment was 2 years old but fuck it I’ve written that all out now 😭😂
