Pausing to guess who wins: I feel like I've been in Ozone's position a lot more, and tend to lose from it, but I think because he's made it up to castle with a strong fishing economy, he will hold and win. this is an epic game so far!

The feeling is that Morg is gonna win with the constant siege push, but looking up and seeing him being stuck at around 30 vils makes me give the edge to Ozone as long as he doesn't rage quit.

At that pause time, I still think Morg might win if he pushed a bit more and took down Ozone's fish. This was the best nomad game I have seen so far definitely. All in vs eco boom and defend. Morgan did well to relocate, defending with men at arms and cav archers(although weak) and fishing ships. This ultimately helped him. plus the Hindus bonus of cheap vills played a role. GG wp!!

I played this game obsessively on PC when I was young, about 20 years ago and haven't played since 2006'ish. Since that point, whenever asked about gaming, I always said AOG is my favorite game of all I time and I wish I could play something so simple yet so complex. I had no idea it has lived on over these years until seeing it advertised on my xbox. Now I'm playing for the first time in 20 years with a controller in my hand and I'm getting murked by everyone. Does the Xbox "Definitive Edition" Pair you with people playing on a computer?

At pause time: Ozone. Better eco, better position. It looks like he's being pressured out, but he's actually put himself as the aggressor soon with his castle/tc placement. Morg's army is just too slow at killing buildings, and he doesn't have a lot of it.

At the 47 minute pause time: clearly Ozone is going to win. MORG has no eco and the castle positioning is going to protect enough econ for Ozone that MORG just won't be able to keep up in production. I do hope that MORG wins though, he's a fun player to watch!

At the pause I thought Ozone would win. As a sidenote, I love to see a good all-in Feudal vs low eco Castle aggression. Something so panicky about it and neither side can afford to throw with a bad fight because it'll snowball. Also Morg's mango push gave satisfying memories of Hoang.

The pause question: I think Ozone. Morg hasn't made new units for like 20 minutes and he is still behind in eco despite destroying all the opponent's TCs. Morg has his enemy on back foot so he should have a window to rebuild his eco in somewhere safer. His reluctance to do so tells me that he is just going to tap out if/when his push stops.

I think Ozone wins. Morg's eco is about as big as my pinkie nail and Ozone has 3-4 times the eco. Morg's army can be easily cleared once Ozone gets enough resources to make 15 light cav, then what does he do? He can't tech into anything else, while Ozone can easily GO UP TO IMMMMPPPPP and wreck what is remaining of his base with little to no resistance.

For me its really fun to watch this game because I played those guys on the ladder even being a bit lower elo. I lost hard to Ozone because he is such a crazy good open map player, but I dont think I played morg on arabia yet. Always crazy maps like BF, Nomad, Greenland or what funky stuff is on the ladder that I cannot ban 11. Morg always yolos and that quite fun to play against.

When you asked who the viewers thought would win, I guessed Ozone, because he managed to always expand enough to avoid annihalation while slowly, but surely building up his economy (he had twice the vil count by that time). So I felt like Morg was on a timer badly. Then Morg took out two TCs within a minute or so and I thought to myself: "Ok nevermind. He’s got this." Funny to see that Ozone did actually end up winning. My guess really was just a guess in that moment.

Placed my bet on Ozone! During the point of the video that you asked Ozone seemed to be in a worse position so a bit of it was just me enjoying rooting for the underdog but more importantly if Ozone was able to keep fighting at that point I figured there was certainly a chance they'd turn it around. What a back and forth game that was though! Both players are insanely skilled. P.S. managed to get my whole kitchen clean while watching this video, thanks T90!

I thought Ozone at the time you paused, but I did not at all expect him to win so suddenly like that - like you said, it was disappointing a bit how fast the ended. I felt Ozone was faster at adapting, it reminded me of Lyx back in teams games (I forget which series it was in particular) where he looked out so many times and kept coming back and frustrating the the opponent. Also, Ozone strangling Morg's economy was brutal. My personal thought on where Morg lost it? He never spared anyone to snipe the sole archer blocking gold. I felt like there was no real reason that one archer should block an entire gold mine for as long as he did, which hurt Morg who was struggling economically.

My guess was Ozone to win at that point. He had so much more eco and Morg wasn't killing him fast enough. Market rates for selling were still decent enough to keep him afloat until gold on the map became more secured too.

Ok, I'm at the 28 minute mark of the video and stopped it to make my guess about who wins (and purposely avoided looking at any comments below): I'd say Ozone goes on to win, yes due to the fish boom on the margins, but also because his eco has had to expand in many different directions (by necessity) whereas Morg's has been contained in a relatively small area, so in kind of an ironic twist he actually appears to have less overall map control, despite constantly pushing deep inside the opponent's base. The best comparison I could possibly make is the German army pushing deep into Russia in 1941, ripping through Soviet forces and causing incalculable damage to the Russian economy only to fight itself into eventual exhaustion and an unwinnable war of attrition, where the vast expanse of land became much more of a burden than a prize.

50 minutes in (edit: game time), the game can go either way. One player has twice the eco with water, if he can keep dispersing his eco and holding until it pays off, he wins. But the other has the army and momentum and 1/3 of the idle time, as long as he does enough damage he can win. I'll favour the defender though if I have to guess on an undecided game, an all-in push looks good until it doesn't.

I wonder how the game had went if Ozone had gone scouts/light Cav instead of M@A and cav archers. Not sure if his food eco could have sustained that, or if Morg would have just added more pikes. But with the light cav mobility it is so much easier to raid unprotected eco and jump Monk/Siege when the opportunity presents.

Morg had control of the pacing the entire time, almost any other game I think he would have taken it, but Ozone’s adaptability and understanding of his own eco was the turning point. If he had misstepped with his incomes at any point it would have all fallen apart in an instant. An absolutely brilliant game from both players!

I’m at 28:00 now. I think Ozone has the biggest chance to win just because of his economy. His fish are really good now and he has pretty alright control. But his army comp is not as good so could go either way looking at army lol

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the awful castle position. If he dropped the castle on his next TC there would be no way back. He had the area controlled because of the proximity to his siege workshop and monastery - He didn't need the castle to cement his position there, and he should know his opponent could scrape together a new TC to protect against raids and siege - Delay the castle 1 or 2 minutes and drop it on the new TC and it's game over.

My prediction as of 28:26 - Blue will win for 2 combined reasons: A) Blue has more production.¹ B) Red's K/D ratio < Blue/Red population ratio. That 2nd one means Red has been unable to kill units fast enough to prevent Blue's population from out-growing his own. Usually, _long-term_ , larger economy + larger population = win. Or at least, that's how I think about it.² ____________ ¹ more production: more Villagers + Fishing ships actively producing resources ² I see most AoE games as ultimately boiling down to economy, specifically A) raw production combined with B) how efficiently that production (resources) gets used. At least as of this moment in the match, Blue has maintained the lead on both measures.

It felt like Ozone would win that for most of the game. MORG's position never changed for the last 3/4ths of the game, he had similar eco and army throughout. Yes, Ozone was on the back foot, but he survived and being double the eco for half the game, the longer the game went, the more likely he would win.

I hate that resign by Morg. He has way more gold and stone banked and could potentially drop 2 more castles as a result. I'd have liked to see him drop 1 in front of his TC (opposite Ozone's Castle in the north) and take that castle out. Then 1 more on any of Ozone's eco hubs.
