John Kinnane naw I watch crashes to see where other pilots screw up most with similar aircraft to mine, learn off their pain better than off mine. Don’t get me wrong I have my accidents, but there are old pilots, bold pilots, but ain’t no old bold pilots.

What I can never understand is why do some Rc pilots fly off the grass when they have a beautiful runway? Unless you're flying a bush plane. I fly an XCub and I love using both worlds but a beautiful warbird?

Usual array of nice models and crap pilots. I remember watching my dad fly his home built aircraft - balsa wood, ply and doped fabric. He knew how to fly properly, probably because he started off like real pilots with basic trainers before progressing, and actually understood the mechanics of flight - you know, achieve some climb speed before trying to climb... Nowadays they seem to go straight on to a Mustang or jet without a clue, and with the inevitable consequences.

Yes, quite right ! In some cases, though, there seemed to be a radio failure. It seemed that many crashes were due to being too slow going down wind, as in the big black bipe, and badly trimmed in low power situations. So sad to see...........

There's all kinds of ways to throw hundreds of dollars away..not to mention all the time spent building them. Looks like you could make them stronger like the old duraplane. I remember watching them fly it into a barricade and they picked it up and kept flying it after a prop change.

As many mishaps we see I'm surprised you don't hear of people getting killed from being hit by some of those really big planes.

because it is regulated properly by professionals (many withover 60 yrs experience) and they follow strict CAA regulations inc a very safe distance away from the public, the last recorded death from a model strike in the uk was over 15yrs ago i think, quite a safe hobby when you remember there are over 780 registered clubs in the uk with over 36,000 members, many of those fly every day during the summer, then there are non registered people that fly from private land, how many thousands of them are there ? so you see mike it is a relatively safe sport if not abused !
