Thank you for this video! 👍 Just one thing to the Finland episode. In 2021, membership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland included approximately 66,5 % of the population, not 82,5%. And less than half of us “helsinkiläinen” (meaning the residents of capital city) 🙂

I see. I don’t remember where I got that statistic from, but I think there must have been a difference between people who are nominally Lutheran and people who are officially members of the church, or something like that. Two similar but slightly different statistics.

My favourite Czech song is a cover of a Dutch song. 24:17 Until 17th century, there was another minority language - Kuman, from the Turkic family. 24:48 They even destroyed the Great Moravian empire... 31:43 Meaning "blueish"

@@BozheTsaryaKhrani enlightenment is not an ideology. it just means that you use your brain. if your computer is not working then praying to a god does not help (because nonsense). analyzing the problem and then repair it = enlightenment. the computer itself (invented by Germany btw) represents enlightenment. you can only use one as well as the internet due to that. every time if some one has a better solution for whatever after thinking then its a representation of enlightenment/science. everytime you have just irrational / emotional its the opposite ... almost all problems in the world are the result of irrational/un-enlightenment. same is true for every relation to other ppl.... problems have ONLY the ones who are unable to reflect better/think better and more 'authentic' (as the reality is... enlightenment = recognizing how the reality and its mechanism is and use that). And (true) LIberalism is the best view (true Liberalism is the same as science/enlightenment/reasonable thinking). A real problem is rather left wing/socialism which has not much to do with liberalism - its a fundamental movement out of religion which wanted be liberal but failed and fell back (also into antisemitism/antizionism (antimodenism), anticapitalism (antimodernism), aniwestern/antiliberalism (antimodernism), collectivism (antimoderrnism), leader/centralized mindset (which is why all left wing/socialist/communistt countries where like tthat. most dont know that but its due to their religious god inheritage) and so on. nationalsocialism was just one socialist/left wing variation of that time (which is why there is no relevant difference between the differens socialist movements and Hitler/Staliin/Mao/Polpot and all the socialist dictator ships - all were and are still antisemitic/antizionist - also the remaining parties are the most antisemitic/antizionist ones - together with islam which was alreadyalso supported by Hitler/NSDAP Nazis). The were never progressive (which is why the have a focus on that topic to twist frame it) - and are btw, responsible for the most ugly city planning and contruction (because also against nice modern but also against nice old arcchitecture. they always preferred ugly commie block banlieus or variations of that - and mostt are so structure blind that they even dont notice that).

its obvious that you dont know much about Germany (which automatically means not about the most important history of Europe aftter tthe Roman Empire, because that was the core region after the fall of the western roman empire due to Germanic tribes which invaded most of Europe and created new states, kingdoms/empires. this is why ALL most famous long existing dynasties from Germany, UK, Austria, France, Spain etc. go back to those Germanic dynasties. Also why England is called England, AngloSaxons are named like that, France got its name from, Burgundy, Lombardy and so on ) and just put some - also outdated - data together without much even superficial knowledge. Germany is due to its geographical interface position AND its history as at first part of the Frankish Empire (France is just the Western split off and got his name also from this Germanic Empire which is why its the same name as you have in Frankfurt, Frankenstein, Franken/Bavaria etc.) then also being the core of the Holy Roman Empire basically the dominant heard of Europe. It is not only part of two mega regions (the biggest one, the Blue Banana and the Northern String) but also in the center of the two others: the Green Banana and The Gulf of Finland. Both were directly and indirectly connected to the HRE. The 'Blue Banana' IS basically 1:1 the left side of the Holy Roman Empire (except UK). The 'String' AND the 'Gulf of Finland' were to a huge amount the Northern part. Directly or indirectly. Keep in mind that not just the Teutonic Order/Prussia stretched from the Baltics over Poland to Germany but also due to that the most important medieval maritime trade empire (the Hanseatic League) connected all this regions. The 'Guld of Finland' represents exactly the end hubs of the Hanseatic League in this direction: those cities in Finland, Russia (Novgorod !), the Baltics over Poland to Germany (Netherlands, Belgium were also part of the HRE at that time). You had three super trade highways at that time: Hanseatic League in the North. On the other side of the HRE also like in the North by more independent cities created Mediterranean Sea Empires (especially Venice) and powerful cities (Milano, Ravenna, Florence etc.). And they were connected via the Land Superhighway in combination with especially the Rhein/Rhine River - which connected both hubs. The 'Green Banana' was also partly part of the HRE or influenced by it: it was surrounded in the North by the Hanseatic League SubEmpire (= also Teutonic Knights/Prussia), in the West the core of the HRE (or even part like Bohemia/Czech or the many German communities/cities all over the place) and with Austria till Northern Italy again part of it. There is a reason why in the former HRE are most cities, most castles, the highest population density in Europe (with different mega regions), most of the industry, all Rainessances (!) happened here (already before under the Frankish Empire the first Karolingian ones) and also today is Germany due to its center interface location and the huge population (the one of Germany and neighbors) the country with most roads, tracks/trains, internet - and fluctuation. Because most have it as destination or have to cross it - which is why there is since the raising globalization since the 21. century also created more pressure on the infrastructure (also Deutsche Bahn) ... apart from that. Germany is also part of the Great Northern Plane, the flatland which stretches from Russia, Ukraine, Poland over to Germany (Northern and partly Central) to the Netherlands/Beligum into France. Thats also the 'bread basket' region of Europe and under this focus: also the most populated one in Europe ...

The issue of whether Valencian and Catalan (and Balearic) are dialects of the same language (they are) or separate languages does most definitely not exist in academia or everyday exchanges, only in ignorant, manipulative politics. I don’t think it needs to be mentioned every time Catalan is touched upon, since this might contribute to spreading uncertainty where for linguists -the language has been very seriously studied- there is none. And who should we listen to but them?

Why do you use a map which separates "Spain" from Galicia, the Basque Country and "Catalonia" (even giving to "Catalonia" the region of Valencia?, as if they were different countries? They are all regions of Spain.
@GEOfocusChannel
@GEOfocusChannel 6 ай бұрын
What map are you talking about? I made the video years ago. I’m very sure that I did not use a map that “separates” those regions from Spain. I might have used a map that *highlights* those regions while talking about them, which is quite different from what you said. Tell me which map so I can clarify specifically.

Why you talk about "Germanic speaking area" when you refer to Alsace Lorraine..as if Alsacian was not German.
@GEOfocusChannel
@GEOfocusChannel 6 ай бұрын
I don't understand your question. Here's what I said (I checked my script because I haven't thought about what I said for a couple years): "The Grand Est region contains the historical areas of Champagne and Alsace-Lorraine...Some parts of this region have historically had a Germanic-language speaking majority, and were contested areas between France and Germany for centuries." "Some parts of this region" means some parts of the Grand Est region.
