I liked his character but I would have preferred it if he was a dirty cop. Like him and Dexter suspect each other is up to no good and form an unspoken alliance. E.g joey turns a blind eye to Dexter's "research" on criminals and Dexter turns a blind eye to Joey helping himself to a few kilos from the evidence locker.

I think they kinda did right? Like not totally but dexter covered up the blood on Quinn’s shoe from dexter killing that one annoying dirty detective that was spying on dexter. Quinn knew something was up with dexter and kinda let it go after that I think.
