They have all said, TOGETHER, how crazy it was for them to finally watch the show for the first time ever, and how they finally realize how things must have looked to everyone else, and how far from “reality” those final edits ended up being. They were all shocked. Lauren didn’t even realize that they were ever in a legit relationship. She was rarely around them together, and she never really got to see how they were with each other. Try actually listening to the podcast episode with the three of them.

I rewatch these every few years and each time I have a different “understanding” of the drama. When I was young I was SO against Kristin and like hated her and just wanted Stephen to leave her. But now when I watch I realize that Stephen was just drawn to Kristin and followed his feelings. I also think LC should have stopped chasing Stephen because there’s no signal that he wants her like that. Kristin is not a villain, she’s a girl who’s just trying to enjoy life while dealing with someone else constantly chasing her bf - I’d be a bitch to.

Eileen Kristen was interviewed on this a couple of years ago. She set the record straight. The love triangle was real but MTV egged it on and took advantage of all 3 of them. That MTV was the reason for there break up because they pushed the Lauren drama and put Steven in situations he would never have put himself in for the show. Or that he would never have done anything to make her uncomfortable. That Kristin was trying to be mature about it but she was also a teenager and you can only take so much. Her and Lauren made amends when the show ended but she never hated her. It was just the classic other woman trying to move in thing.

Watching this back now knowing that mtv cast kristin because they wanted her " hot boyfriend" stephen to cast with L.C..i feel sad for her. She said years ago that she was hurt and acting out because the show forced the relationship between stephen for views and all she could do was sit back and watch. Dealing with that as a teenager has got to be hard to have your bf flirting with someone else in your face all the time and you just have to watch for the shows sake. It did make for good drama but all i see now as an adult is a poor teen girl who was just constantly hurt acting out.

Yes exactly Kristin said in an interview that it was cause of MTV that it was getting egged on. That LC liked Stephen and there was drama but he wouldn’t have done anything that made Kristin uncomfortable. She was trying to be mature about it but you can only take so much especially so young. I’m a grown woman and I couldn’t handle that. So that says a lot about who she is.

I think Kristin didn’t like Stephen anymore in the last scenes in SF because 1) she liked the space and freedom of not being in an up-and-down stressful relationship and 2) the show had started to air and she saw scenes with Stephen and LC she didn’t know about and was mad at him for it. Maybe Stephen had guilt and was trying to make up for what he’d done after seeing it on the show. Towards the end they did get much better at communicating so at least there’s that.
