CMT probably picked her because she already had a contract with them. I seriously doubt Kelli and Charlotte listen to her suggestions when it comes to picking who should or should not make the team. I heard they pick the team by the time Finals is over. I also would not be surprised if CMT picks the girls for Melissa to mentor for ratings and drama. They also did a survey on the CMT Facebook page years ago about who they like or dislike seeing more on the show. The majority of people said less Melissa scenes. Plus the fact the way Melissa went after Hannah on a podcast she did a few months ago with Scott the Weatherman shows how nasty she can be. She obviously does not understand what the girls go through especially when a girl has mental health issues. Inside information was Melissa and Kitty played a role in getting Hannah cut. That shows she is not leadership material.

Yup! Me too! I was a cheerleader for years and was so comfortable performing with the whole squad. But like if at practice the coach wants us to go to one by one or a few at a time to run through a routine or something I am a wreck. @@KN-op2wm It was explained to me that in your head a smaller group sees more of your mistakes. They can pick a part your errors easier. A big group is less likely to have that chance. Or at least that's what your brain theorizes. After years of dreading chair tests but loving concerts it was nice to understand where my struggle was coming from.

I blame her group leader. She should've done stuff to make her whole group feel close and included: group activity that's not dancing, going out to eat. sleepovers, etc. Most of the ladies are from other places besides Dallas and miss friends and family. Kashara was great at yelling out, "Come on, Yuko!" When they were roommates and doing stuff.

Maddie had literally just graduated high school, came down to Texas from Utah with some weird hair and had no frame of reference for what the TCC process was really like. She will be the first to tell you she was a mess and needed that experience to find herself.

I totally get Melissa with getting nervous in front of small groups, but not getting as nervous in larger groups. I mean I'm not a dancer or a singer or anything like that. But when I go for karaoke and there's a big group of people there, I'm not as nervous as when there's a small group. It's definitely a real thing. And my friend's that are professional musicians have sometimes said the same thing. It's because with smaller groups it's more intimate. So, I totally get where Melissa is coming from. It's for sure a thing, and completely and totally understandable.

So obviously Kelli and Judy have to think about retiring eventually. They’ve been there for decades, care deeply about the organization, and want it in good hands. Since the tv show has been such a potent force in taking the DCC to the next level, Kelli/Judy have to take that into consideration. There were definitely many girls who went farther/did better WITHIN DCC than Melissa, but she’s the only alum with high-profile name recognition since being on two of the biggest tv franchises on primetime TV, a finalist on one and winning the other. It’s clear that her resume was taken into heavy consideration when they decided to offer her a spot on the staff and implicitly groom her to take over for Kelli. Kashara will likely take over for Judy.
