A compilation of Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O’Brien and his most furious, gut wrenching, hammer smashing solos
Due to me only using solos that Pat Himself wrote, classic tracks such as Hammer Smashed Face don’t count, given that Pat didn’t join until Gallery Of Suicide
The combination of that combined with the fact that the Band usually plays songs live from their classic albums, combined with a few modern ones, some of which don’t even have any Pat solos
These factors make finding videos with Pat soloing in them a challenge, which is why the video is only 4 minutes as opposed to the usual 12 or so
Tried my best gathering as many of his solos as I could
Enjoy!

Pat was so damn skinny when I took guitar lessons with him. Hard to tell from this video, but that man had the longest fucking fingers I've ever seen. I used to joke about it with my friends and tell them he could fret two F notes on the low E string without moving his hand (12 frets apart for you non guitar playing heathens). I ran into him at Machinotts on the day that Night Ranger's "You Can Still Rock In America" was first aired on the radio. He listened to it, played the solo after only hearing it once, then showed me how it should have been played. I swear that man could see, smell, feel, taste AND hear musical notes. I'm still playing almost 40 years later, so yeah, he had an impact on me.

you took lessons from him? may i ask, how did you find him, or how much did it cost? I'd love to have a teacher like him one day

@@sk4le10 I started playing guitar at 13. My first guitar teacher was some Ward Cleaver type that taught me the basics and songs like "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles. As a newly converted metal head, it wasn't what I wanted to learn (though I can still play the solo from Witchy Woman from memory) so I decided to try someone else. There was a music store a few miles farther down the road (I want to say it was called Buddy Rogers) so I went in there and set up some lessons and made it clear that I wanted to learn metal. The guy at the counter said we have a guy for that. When we came back a few days later, I told my mom how cool it would be if this guy could show me how to play Crazy Train. I show up at my first lesson and Pat comes walking out wearing a concert T and ripped jeans, hair halfway down his back and generally looking like all of the guitarists I idolized at the time. I thought my mom was going to march me right back out of the store. Thank God she didn't. We walked into the room and he asked me a few questions about my level of knowledge and who my influences were. I told him that Randy Rhoads was the greatest guitarist I'd ever heard and he said "Cool, wanna learn Crazy Train?" I'll never forget it. Only got to take a few lessons from him because he moved on, but man, did he ever leave an impression on me. I don't remember what it cost but was probably about $10 or $15 for half an hour. I almost bought a guitar from him. This thing was insane, something he Frankensteined himself. If I remember correctly it was a strat body and had 4 or five pickups. Some humbuckers and some single coil. Sounded wicked, but then everything he played sounded wicked so it might have been him more than the guitar. Wish I would have bought it now.

@@duallity2403 thanks for the answer! damn that must've been such a cool experience. by the way, mind if i ask: do you know how thick picks did he use? i know that it's tortex sharps, but i don't know how thick. I want to order them (because of Pat), but can only in pack, and I'm curious about thickness he uses

Wicked through and through. Impeccable taste without whacky over-the-top style in soloing, which unfortunately can turn many, even most brutal songs, into a cheese fest during the solo segment (*cough* Rutan *cough*). Pat is sheer brutality, sick beauty and absolute precision. His style suited CC the best and nobody can replace him, imho. Not to mention, the fret work which is just out of this world. His extensive musical background, including classic guitar training, just feels immediately.

I never actually thought who would be my favorite guitar player, but I must say that Pat's hands are quite priceless🏆Alex is most certainly my favorite bass player and CC is in my top 3 as a band😊 I shook hands with the guys at the beginning of 2000 when they had tour via Finland. Pat - I think- was quite new in the band at that time. I Will always remember how great they were. They started the gig with 'from skin to liquid' and when every bone was broken and the gig was over, they came down to croud to chat with people like we all were their buddies. That was so great!!! And I managed to pick their autograps to my new Gore obsessed album🤩These guys have from time I memoriam known what they can and want to do. And they do it well. I appreciate and salut you🥇Thank you for giving me kicks in the ass and banging my head!!!
