Splitting is legal California & they zoom past my window and scare me. Cops recommend 20 mph max but the bikers are doing 50 past stopped car. It would be easy for a car to change lanes w/o realizing a bike is coming from behind. (You don’t see them because other cars block the view.) Crashed cycle would be the result .

Part of our property has a highway alongside, every 2 weeks or so I run our tractor and trailer on the verge picking up all of the crap people throw out of their cars. I get all sorts, bottles, cans, dirty nappies and lots of take away rubbish. I keep it clean for my dad because it's also our firebreak. its called zipper merging, like it said in the video. If you do any research on it, you'd see that it is actually beneficial to keeping traffic from building up if people keep the flow moving and then merge when absolutely necessary. You can find tons of videos of people being in these huge lines and then there is another lane they can be using and they refuse to.

@SuperDemans There are 3 or 4 states that have The Zipper merge. It is now taught in their driver's education courses. The rest of the states still do not teach the zipper merge. That is why the zipper merge is not done in most instances. In many instances it can be dangerous because others do not know what the individual on the left or right hand side is doing as they are shoving their way in using a zipper merge.

#12 I had a USPS van scrape the rear passenger side of my car while i was stopped at a light a few months ago. I wasn't very mad about it because I'd already had some paint damage and the driver admitted it was her fault. Her manager showed up to take a report about 10 minutes later after she'd already taken my information. This was the first accident I had ever been in so when the manager told me he'd handle my insurance and crash report to USPS, I naively believed him. After about a month passed he stopped responding to any texts or calls and it's too late to file a report with my insurance.

Its not his fault no one knows how to zipper merge and believes they are entitled to "their spot". Just because everyone else doesn't understand how it works does not mean he was wrong. He was too aggressive about it with the PA tho, that was too much.

If you rear end someone, even when they break check you, you're partially at fault because there are a number of defensive tactics that could be employed to reduce or avoid a collision. Dude clearly didn't make any effort to avoid the collision, probably expecting insurance would pay out.

Cammer was driving the same speed as the car in the right lane, meaning he wasn't passing, which is the only reason he should've been in the left lane to begin with, so the cammer was still in the wrong.

Splitting is legal California & they zoom past my window and scare me. Cops recommend 20 mph max but the bikers are doing 50 past stopped car. It would be easy for a car to change lanes w/o realizing a bike is coming from behind. (You don’t see them because other cars block the view.) Crashed cycle would be the result .

The cammer is in Texas, Texas did not have The Zipper merge. What he was go clear to the front like what he would do in three or four other states and perform a zipper merge. In Texas when two lanes merge into one the drivers in the lane that is continuing on and its present course have the right-of-way of the drivers in the opposite lane that half the merge with their lane. It seems the cammer was all ready to confront somebody.

It's definitely not. Anyone with an aftermarket PA system and camera is looking for people to piss off. He was trying to get as far ahead as he could and get ahead of as many people as he could. Waiting until the last posible second like he did proves as much. He could have merged in ANYWERE but chose as far ahead as possible where there wasn't really a lane anymore.

Or, and just hear me out, maybe if people learned to zipper merge, traffic would flow better and folks wouldn't get so uppity and self righteous. I live in a town where merging is a foreign concept and have seen traffic backed up for 3km where 2 lanes are available, I take the merge option myself and save 40 minutes waiting in a pointless line. Thankfully this town knows how to be polite and make room for merging cars even if they don't know how to do it themselves.
