As a motorcyclist I'm not a big fan of lane splitting and don't do it because people just don't pay attention on the road... to many wachadoodles out there. And you can't be a defensive driver cutting between cars because reaction time is cut down severely.

@dal20402 actually in California (where this clip is) part of the law for lane splitting indicates Drivers in the far left lane should move to the left of their lane to give motorcyclists ample room to pass. At the same time the law states... Travel at a speed that is no more than 10 MPH faster than other traffic Also it is not advisable to lane split when traffic flow is at 30 mph or faster. So technically lane splitting above 40mph is not advisable which would be normal freeway conditions, but motorcyclists abuse this all the time, lane splitting at well in excess of 80mph. and the cammer here was over 55mph.

I don't understand how it's legal anywhere, because even at low speeds it is crazy dangerous. However, in the places that it is legal, its actually the biker's responsibility to make sure they're not doing anything more than 10-15mph more than the traffic they're passing. So, if someone is splitting lanes at seriously unsafe speeds, and you accidentally hit them, it is NOT your fault. They're supposed to slow down so they can scan for hazards too. 👌

Alright, normally I side with motorcyclists, but being a 5 plus year motorcyclist who rides with wide cargo containers on my bike, the person in the tesla in the Number 9 clip was totally fine, and you can see that there was PLENTY of room for the rider to ride by. The rider must've had a pretty bad day and wanted to blow out some rage cause they probably don't like tesla drivers, cause the way I see it, the biker going 15mph above what we're allowed to start lane splitting in traffic, being we can go no more than 10mph faster when traffic is 40mph or less, is totally in the wrong. Hate to say it, but it's riders like this that give us a bad reputation. like this comment if you agree

I might go to jail. But if someone does something stupid and then gets out of their car walking towards me after I honked or gave them the finger. I’d just hit them with my car. I’d be completely in the wrong. But I would not let someone just yell at me while they’re standing in front or near my car, verbally abusing me, trying to fight. I’d go right to jail, never kill obviously. That is unnecessary. But I bet they will never do that again.

Motorcyclists have to understand that it is significantly harder to see you on the road especially inside a car. Normally y’all are driving faster than us so you come up outta nowhere. Lane splitting is a RISK that you take. It may be legal, but if you get in an accident while lane splitting you may as well be found at fault because you are passing cars un-safely. It’s like merging. The car is already in its lane, if we can’t see you and decide to move over, that’s the risk you have to factor in. You can’t get mad at someone for not seeing you especially in high traffic, you are significantly harder to spot. A mosquito on the road way. Drive with CAUTION and lane split only when necessary. Technically you’re not supposed to lane split on highways cause of dangerous highway speeds anyway, there’s too much risk

8:41, advice for the young driver: Never pass a semi on the left if you can't clear the whole thing in one clean pass while accelerating. You attempted to do so while the truck was slowing while next to it. Best thing to do is slow down and fall in behind the semi at a safe distance between you and wait until the truck is gone.
