There's no way he could have been the strong character he was and last that long. He didn't have the patience to have those feelings but not pursue them quickly, and he was too smart for it to have taken him that long to actually catch him red handed...add the touch of ptsd/anger/aggression/jock mentality towards the "lab geek" and he was written out quickly before they finished writing two episodes with him.
@Local-Vibes44443 ай бұрын
@@brett7551 True but they could have extended his time for sure I will give examples within what happened in the show to prove they cut him too early regardless 1. When dexter caputred doakes he planned on framing him not killing him, so they could have went with that angle and had him successfully do that and have doakes arrested, then doakes could have spent some time in jail where dexter visits him and there rivalry gets more intense lool Then at end of season 3 (since at end of season 2 he wouldn't have died just been arrested) doakes could have finally beat the murder charges and been given his job back (since not doing so would risk department being sued for obscene amount they would hate having to pay lol) so he gets back to work and warns dexter than things have just heated up not died down 2. Doakes was in the marines and was a hot head but wasn't a dummy he wouldn't have followed dexter to a random island to prove he was on a kill he already knew he was, even if he followed dexter and caught him the way he did he would have most likely shot dexter the moment he disobeyed his orders and tried to get close to him so way he got captured makes no sense Then his death makes no sense either like writers quickly writ that part before taking a lunch break or something lool doakes would see Lila being there as suspicious so would have been sure to not tell her about dexter especially when she asked for a name would been seen as suspicious when he is in a cage at this moment, cause what truly innocent person asks such questions when seeing someone in a cage on a island lol and what person in a cage would assume a innocent person would end up in such an area at that time?? They could have done a scene where dexter sees doakes put a tracker on his boat, then have dexter use this to his advantage such as going to the island beforehand, dumping body parts there and calling the cops there and also leaving doakes tracker behind, that way when doakes arrived he would have walked in on the bodies with the cops right behind him, could have had dexter dump his knifes there instead of the water which makes more sense Then doakes is arrested trying to explain that he followed dexter there, when there is no sight of dexter anywhere, doakes could still beat the charges since dexter wouldn't have doakes dna to put on the knifes and would put probably use it to kill the victim and leave it behind, making it easier for defence team to argue doakes was doing his job following a lead he had since his dna wasn't on the knifes used for the murder and the blood slides found in his case also didn't have his dna on it either so how could he be the killer Once he is out could have other killers who are after doakes ramp up there pressure on him, like those Colombians who wanted him dead, which would keep him out of dexter cross hairs whilst he deals with trinity but occasionally see them cross one another paths also, they could have kept him around till like episode 5-6 if they wanted, with a better ending for him. I feel he was such a big part of the story in the book this should have shown in the show, since doakes was a killer himself and killed criminals like dexter could have had some healthy competition with each other lool had doakes and dexter even work together on a kill sort of thing, dexter kills someone doakes is after and vice versa so they could focus on eventually killing each other

The issue with plot armor is incorporating it in a believable way without it being too obvious, it's actually quite the challenge. We saw Doakes in The, Dexter: Original Sin Trailer so, even though it won't be the same actor; it will be cool to see his character return.

Doakes was the actual hero of the show. I’d watch a spin-off of just him

Seeing doakes desperate at the end was kinda funny because of the irony.🤣🤣🤣🤣

If Doakes had not been so impulsive all the time he would have easily put Dexter behind bars. He had good insight. But his temper always got the best of him…

Best character in the show, including dexter himself.
