I remember seeing alot of these trucks on "THE BIG ROADS" as a kid and late at night listening to WWL "THE ROAD GANG" out of New Orleans. While traveling for the holidays. My grandfather's C.B. handle was "The Big Fish"

Was cool when they wore the hats. And uniforms. Shows pride in what they did.

Wow, seeing that 1/2 cab truck and trailer brought back some memories. l use to drive a few 1/2 cab mixers, now that is something. All you need to remember is put your left knee on the white line on the road and your in the middle of your lane. lt's quite an experience driving along in a phone both with a seat and steering wheel.

I never heard of the left knee trick. Thanks

@@chriscusick6890 Yeah the first time l drove one my boss just bought a used one, so on the way home he was in front of me and he kept pointing at the road (the line), of course l had no idea what he ment. After we got in he said "l thought you were going to wipe out a dozen parked cars and mail boxes with your right side". That is how l learned, lol. BTW, l never hit anything, Thank God.

I remember the Canadian Freightways CF. Believe it was consolidated fright in the USA. They had a huge terminal in Fort St John, northern British Columbia Canada. They ran from there to the Yukon on the original Alaska Highway. That was in the 60's / and 70's '/ some of the 80's. Green Freightliners

Back in the 70s all the way to when I retired in 21, if i was going to be just driving all day or night or a couple of days id wear comfortable slippers of something. If i got out of the truck to do anything other then fuel or eat then I put my boots on

Hard work is what makes strong men. The country has enough fancy trucks on the road but an obvious shortage of strong men.

Along came deregulation that gave every truck driver today their trade. Along came EPA making the grass very brown , CDL making the driver more knowledgeable, ELD making the driver not heroes of the highway but hellions of the highway. Those days are long past gone. The driver today couldn't handle those days.
