That man changed the game. Before him slot receivers were just another benchwarming water boys. He showed that you dont need to launch the ball 30yards to get a first down every time. He showed short routes are a important aspect in the game football. I dont care if he dropped a pass in a critical situation in the superbowl. That man could catch 100+catchs a year battle throw 20+ conclusions and still play for your team and always give it his alll. Wes welker a legend!

I had the pleasure of watching Wes Welker play his last two seasons at Texas Tech. It was quickly obvious that he played at a different level than everyone else, and I knew he would be a great NFL player. I had no idea, however, that he would be as successful as he has been. The Hall of Fame will be calling him eventually, so he has nothing more to prove. But he's always been super competitive, so I understand his mixed feelings.

At the pats what was he, had the 4th most catches in a season. It doesn't matter apparently if he caught the ball with his body he was a solid receiver. QBs can at least count on him to catch it where he is. He may not be the guy that will moss you or bun you in a run but he is solid on getting the QB his catch.

Ok this might be wild to say but behind Cris Cater Wes Welker is the 2nd Greatest slot receiver to ever play another thing to in year 2008 when Tom Brady got injured that year and had to sit out the rest of the season he still managed to put up 111 catches for 1165 yards with a Back up Quarterback so for people who say Tom Brady is a good part of his success is true but he proved he didn’t need a grade-A QB to put good numbers

I have always loved Wes, but during one of his last seasons in New England I remember seeing a video clip of him and Belichick talking right after Edelman had just run a punt return back for a touchdown. Bill used some example but basically told Welker that Edelman was about to take his job as the punt returner for the team. Wes laughed and said "He can have it" and Bill replied "Way to compete". He just never has had that burning desire to win and be better, in my opinion. Besides, Edelman is way better and more clutch! CASE AND POINT: Welker dropped a wide open pass which costed us super bowl 46, Edelman had to make an even bigger catch when we were losing in super bowl 49, caught it, got hit really hard by Kam Chancellor, still held onto the ball, and nearly kept his feet and ran for another 10-15 yards. There really is no question as to who is the better wide receiver. But still, Wes was always fun to watch play.

love welker, but i absolutely hate when highlights reels have every single play so zoomed in for close up persepctives that you can't see ANY OF THE ACTUAL PLAYS. the frigin football just comes into view for a split second before its absorbed, can't see any route running, can't get any sense of field position, can't see defense alignments, how he's getting open, etc etc etc! HORRIBLE production by someone who obviously doesn't understand what football fans want to see. and this rears its ugly head in lots of nba/nfl player highlights
